“Nope, stop right there. Before you say anything— this is just as confusing for me as it is for you. Scratch that— this is way more confusing for me. So just- don’t say anything stupid, alright?”

“That look in your eyes— I know what it means. I see it everywhere I go. You want to ask me something, yet you hesitate. Why? Are you afraid I might hurt you?”

“Well, it’s a sandwich. Not as nice as night-pizza on a rooftop but— food is food.”

“Remember when you were a teenager and you know, you’re just starting to figure out who you are— so you start doing weird stuff, some of it really stupid, some of it really fun, some of it both. And it feels like you’re going to live forever? You find those little moments that stick in your head for decades, those ones that no one else would understand. That stuff that makes you.. you? Right, yeah, you get it. Well, you want to hear the truth? Being faced with the real possibility of living forever sucks. And sometimes the stuff that make you you, isn’t stuff you even did. Someone else did it, and then it gets artificially planted inside a fake brain you were shoved into without permission. Is there a lesson in that? Because I feel like there’s got to be a lesson in that.”

“you see, history is much more fascinating than you’d expect it to be.”

“i would never cheat at gin - and frankly i’m offended by the suggestion,” he insists, cards visibly sticking out of the sleeves of his ratty leather jacket.

“woah, hey! watch it – i just got this face back.”

“Because I’ll get put on some kind of watchlist or something. Although I’m already on several given the earthquakes that come out of my hands so I guess it doesn’t matter.” Daisy shrugged as she took a long sup from her bottle, glad to finally be relaxing for a moment. Even if she knew it wouldn’t last long, it was still nice. “Do you think we’ll ever be?”

“With the state of affairs at the moment, it’s only a matter of time before things escalate.”

“What was I supposed to do when Bobbi approached me with that information, Sam? I get it, believe me. And you know what? I don’t really feel like trying to explain myself for the tenth time tonight after I just watched my dad get hauled away to the Raft. I’m not your enemy.”

“Well lucky for you you’re meeting the person from A.I.M.,” Monica insisted, pausing for a moment to hold her hand out as she smiled wickedly at Sam. “Dr. Rappaccini. Scientist Supreme.” She rolled her eyes at his next words and physically waved them off. “Let’s just say I’m willing to put this incident behind me. A.I.M. was happy to help in cleaning up their mess.”
