Of Cowls and Crowbars

Jason smiled, watching him. He had missed this, even though he would never admit it. He liked feeling like he belonged somewhere, that people cared about him. “Something different, like pineapple,” He muttered to himself. 

The acrobat nodded and smirked. “Pineapple sounds good to me.” He said, flopping down next to Jason. “Phew… Whatta night..” He mumbled to himself before calling the pizza parlor, giving them the order. This reminded him of old times.. Jason being Robin after a long night and the two would just eat pizza and watch some tv. It made him smile to have it like this again.

Jason rested his feet up on the coffee table and took a deep breath. He felt comfortable, at home. He never usually felt like that, he was always on edge. “This is nice,” He finally said. “We should hang out more often. Why don’t we?” 

“When you came back, you were being to angsty and I was still keeping the code.. It was only until tonight that I kicked the code out.” He explained before doing the same, waiting for the pizza. “I like this too.. I missed hanging out with my little bro.”

Jason nodded, their lives didn’t really match up anymore. They were opposite sides of the same coin. “It’d be easier if it was the old days, now there is so much other...” He waved his hand noncommittally, “...Stuff.” 

He tried to hide his blush by taking the last bite of the taco. The idea of a nice fucking sounded good but it wasn’t exactly what his mind thought of when he thought of her. He took his time, thinking. “I think that would be nice.”

“Yeah? And what are you going to do about it, dweeb?”

Jason crossed his arms in front of his chest, “Fight me, Ava. I’ll take you down.” 

“Aren’t you mad? If it wasn’t for me he wouldn’t have even come here!”

Jason paused, “Okay yeah that’s probably true.”

“Exactly! So why are ya here? Ya gonna kill me?”

Jason hesitated, looking her up and down before putting his guns back in their holsters, “At the moment, I don’t think I need to. You aren’t hurting anybody right now, are you?”

“I guess not.”

He smiled, “Good.” 

“I’m just surprised. You have all people should hate my guts.”

Jason’s brows raised, “Me of all people?” 

“Yeah seeing that my boyfriend killed ya and all.”

“Ah,” Jason nodded, figuring that was what she was gonna say. “It’s not your fault.”
