it doesn't matter
TDAC final act spoilers below 👇
I just realised Jax is Ted from Ihnmaims.
In Ihnmaims everyone gets a happy ending (okay, they get killed but it was a better fate than being stuck with AM) while Ted becomes a slug.
In TADC everyone gets a happy ending (accepting their lives at the Circus and choosing to enjoy it) while Jax becomes an abstraciton.
Jax is Ted
Holy cow
TADC Final Act spoilers below, continue at your own risk.
So... Jax is just another deeply traumatized character killed for the shock value instead of being given a chance to understand his wrong doings, atone for them and grow from them, huh?
I really hoped we would get a Bob & The Thunderbolts ending. I know many people don't see an issue but I do. Wdym we cheered for him to open up, actually drop his persona and apologise for the shitty things he did for him to.... End up like this. It's all nice and dandy we got the 'why' behind his actions, but I didn't feel like it was a fulfilling ending for him.
Why Cain came back and was forgiven after they deleted him but Jax basically commits suicide and it's supposed to be his happy ending? Being a big monster in a cozy tent?
I truly believed he would be the first person to go back from abstraction.
I'm sad I was wrong.
So
My sister and I cannot agree on which game is harder. That's why I came to you, nerdy people of tumbler, to settle this dispute.
Which game is harder?

we're all gonna be calm and chill if jax isn't confirmed as trans. right? we're all gonna be respectful of glitch and gooseworx and michael kovach. right? if we're disappointed we'll talk about it respectfully and with understanding. right? right??
(please remember fandom etiquette and treat everyone, fans and creators, with kindness and understanding, no matter their views on this!)
Ah the fact that when Ragatha said they were in it together Jax waited for someone to exclude him and when nobody did he decided to do it himself.
The fact that it was Zooble who stopped him, a person that Jax clashes with on many occasions but still seems to care about him in a way.
The fact that he tried to act cool, but Pomni could still see that he was uncomfortable and smiled to reassure him.
The fact that he still searches for Pomni even tho he believes that she hates him now and he doesn't deserve her friendship.
The fact that despite not seeing himself as part of the group he still follows them around and was willing to get humiliated by Caine for their sake.
JAX THE DEPRESSED WET BLANKET YOU ARE
I just LOVE how Jax is not fooling anyone anymore with his 'tough guy' 'asshole' persona.
Everyone can see that he is not in a good place mentally and they just KNOW that if anyone's gonna abstract it's gonna be Jax. Not Kinger, not Gangle, not even Ragatha. Fucking Jax.
Without having to even discuss it, they all are aware that if left alone for too long Jax is gonna abstract.
Nobody had to have a secret meeting or a 'is Jax okay? ' talk. They just looked at him and went 'damn, he's more unstable than Kinger'.
I love it. He's such a miserable, wet little kitten (bunny). Gimme more tbh.

Reblogging for the neck pain ones… whoa Nelly, do I ever get the most killer neck pains.
if youre hypermobile or have eds be careful with some of these
Dr. Alan Hart, a trans man from the USA who pioneered the use of X-ray photography in tuberculosis detection (saving countless lives according to researchers), was "reclaimed" by the lesbian community after his death in 1962, which means he was deadnamed and described as "a women loving woman who had to transition because at the time transsexualism was a quick medicine against sexism and homophobia" by numerous gay and lesbian associations and activists (including Jonathan Ned Katz whom I just quoted and who received many awards for his contributions to... I don't know, transphobia against trans men I guess), even though his widow always expressed how offensive it was to both her and her husband to refer to them as lesbians.
Hart was on testosterone, legally changed his name, and had gotten a hysterectomy (that was described as "unfortunate" by the Right to Privacy gay and lesbian political action committee), making him the first documented trans man to transition in the USA, yet he was characterized as a lesbian woman because cis gays and lesbians had the nerve (when do they NOT have the nerve, dare I say) to think they had the right to "honor [his] life as a woman" by having fundraiser dinners with his deadname attached to them, having college lectures where they talked about him as a lesbian hero, and using she pronouns for him until 2000. The USAmerican trans community, including trans activist Lou Sullivan, had to fight to defend Hart's identity and to have his manhood recognized by the wider community by protesting these lectures and dinners and having a conversation with the Portland chapter of the Lesbian Avengers association, which ended up having a favorable response and joining the trans community in the battle.
I want to end this by reporting the words of Candice Hellen Brown, a trans woman from Portland who wrote a letter to Just Out magazine in 1994 defending Hart's transness:
The Right to Privacy Political Action Committee in Oregon has a big fundraiser every year that is called the [deadname] Hart Dinner. When asked if I am going, I indignantly answer, "Not until they stop using the wrong name and gender for one of our heroes!" His name is Alan [. . .] He never wavered from his identity as a man, and upon his death, his widow continued to insist that he was a man. Why would such a straight man be called a lesbian by the gay community when today we would certainly call him a female-to-male transsexual? [. . .] He was transsexual or, at least, a transgenderist - a true pioneer. One who is seen as a hero by today's transsexual community. Please don't let him be taken away from us by allowing his old name to be used as though it were a badge of honor.
Think about this story every time the "trans men never contributed to anything in history" discourse resurfaces again. If this can happen to a famous historical figure from the USA and from a relatively recent time who medically transitioned and was explicitly out as a trans man, imagine how many others from other countries, historical periods, and situations have been erased or "reclaimed".

Part of what interests me so much about Vox and Alastor's relationship is:
No matter if Vox loves Alastor or hates him, it's Vox's problem, not Alastor's.
Alastor owed him nothing, and it was within his rights to leave
and if Vox is upset about that, his feelings are valid, but it still wasn't Alastor's fault
I dunno as an ace person his lack of guilt speaks to me. Alastor is unapologetic and in this situation he's right to be
#this is why i have a deep hatred for when people imply that alastor should be punished in any way for saying no to vox
#that would be a deeply disturbing message to send about the ace character considering how many ace people tend to feel bad for saying no
< prev tags
Yeah I get a horrible vibe when people say the humiliation Vox put Alastor through in s2e4 was "deserved". Like sure Alastor could have been nicer abour turning Vox down but it was 70 year ago and like... the cuck chair is sexual harassment, and depending on how Vox figured out about Alastor's lack of a tail, potentially sexual assault as well.
Exactly. I know Alastor is terrible at being a victim, but I found the way some people talked about the whole thing very disturbing. It was as if they genuinely thought all of that was acceptable in response to a rejection that occurred 70 years ago. What kind of incel logic is that? It gave off very victim-blamey vibes. You should have been nicer, so you deserve to be stalked for 70 years and then be tortured and experience sexual harassment.
Then the whole joke about Alastor being a hypocrite got so out of hand that some people straight up started saying that Alastor, despite everything Vox put him through in episode 4, did not have the right to call Vox a creep because Alastor had touched people in the past. I hope future episodes continue to validate Alastor's no.
The people who said Alastor deserved public humiliation and sexual harassment for the ‘No’ he gave Vox set my teeth on edge.
I may love Radiostatic but Alastor owed Vox NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING. He had no obligation to return Vox’s feelings and it drives me insane that people think he should have said yes just to make Vox happy.
Like Alastor’s autonomy and identity don’t matter. Like he’s a prize or prop to be used for Vox’s benefit.
I hate it!
Vox’s happiness is not Alastor’s responsibility.
He should have made Vox cry harder tbh.
Some krita tips and tools I use on the daily :] (click on the images to read)
I posted this a few days ago on Tiktok and forgot to post it on my other socials lol sorry about that
I absolutely love Krita, such an amazing free & open source project and highly recommend using it and if able, supporting devs!
I found it really interesting how Vox takes his hands off Alastor the moment Alastor tugs away. There's no pushing, no grabbing, no pulling Alastor back.
How much of Vox's touches do we reckon are just muscle memory and he's simply not used to Alastor shrugging him off?
Boys hide their tenderness, scared someone might notice it
Girls show their strength, scared nobody will realise it
Okay I think where Vox went wrong with his offer to team up with Alastor is the wording.
I bet that if Vox just said that he wanted to make a deal, Alastor wouldn't have been so harsh. Because every one of Alastor's relationships we've seen so far has been transactional.
Rosie owns his soul and is using him for something. Mimzy only goes to him when she needs protection. And he owns Niffty's soul so she's pretty much stuck with him.
And I imagine he also felt "used" when he was alive what with him being a POC. I imagine his white bosses just begrudgingly hired him like "Okay fine if we can get people to listen to our station more, I guess we'll put you on. Especially since no one will ever see that you're a POC". I bet that line he said in s1, "this face was made for radio", was actually said to him when he was alive.
The only dynamics Alastor has is either him being taken advantage of or him taking advantage of other people.
So, when Vox was asking him to be partners and saying they were friends, I think Alastor didn't believe he was being genuine. Alastor probably thought Vox was trying to trick him and soften him up so he could take advantage of him later down the line. Because wtf would anyone be friends with him?
So I feel like if Vox just said he wanted to make a deal, sure Alastor probably still wouldn't have accepted it but he would still keep his respect for Vox. It'd be like, "yeah this guy just wants to use me but at least he's making his intentions clear".
Plus there's also the fact that Vox had a crush on Alastor (which Viv did confirm today on Bluesky). Obviously we don't know if Alastor picked up on that, but just with the way Vox was acting in this scene alone it seems his crush was pretty fucking obvious.
So you take that and combine it with Alastor being aroace, his misandry, and his refusal to believe that anyone could genuinely care about him... yeah it's no wonder he was so harsh.
I said a while ago that if Vox did ever confess his feelings to Alastor, Alastor would probably be like "Okay so you only became my acquaintance so you could eventually have sex with me".
And I imagine something maybe something similar happened here in Alastor's mind. When Vox said they were friends, Alastor probably thought "Oh God that's how it always starts. First it's 'friendship' but then that's never enough and they beg for something more. And hell with the way Vox is acting like a schoolgirl with a crush that's definitely bound to happen."
