Since I wanted to start brainstorming my own designs for the Critters, here's some quick art I made for each of them! I think how well each of them turned out varies, but it's nice to have a groundwork I can build off of for future projects. (Not sure if my next project will involve them or not, but definitely at some point).

"A Rainbow and Her Sunshine"
A bright-hearted bundle of energy and a shy, talented artist may seem like an odd pairing at first, but anyone who knows Dogday and Craftycorn know they each bring something special out of the other. After all, a rainbow can't light up the sky without a little sunshine.
This was easily the most fun I've had drawing in a while. I got to try out so many new techniques, and for the most part they were a wild success. (For example, you have no idea how much better this started looking when I started using the overlay setting for my shading layer). Plus, this ship is absolute peak, and I love that I've finally gotten around to drawing it.

"Leaving Home"
Annabelle always wondered if leaving Cliffport would feel liberating or terrifying. Now, as she looked out one last time toward the life she was leaving behind in search of answers, she finally realized that it was both.
This one was both incredibly rewarding yet stressful. I don't know what came over me that decided I should do two projects with heavily demanding backgrounds in a row, but here we are. The next piece I do will probably be less ambitious, but I hope I can start utilizing and optimizing some of the lessons I took from this piece going forward.
"Dance on the Lake"
This piece was a long time coming for me. I first came up with these two Original Characters - Cecil and Maralen - all the way back in early 2024 after learning about Wish's early concept art and the community around it. What started as my take on that story slowly evolved into one of my favorite original storylines I've ever made. The next step I wanted to take was clear - I wanted to draw the starlit dance upon a lake that I had imagined as the powerful romantic moment. The one I'd envisioned for the story from the very beginning. The problem? It was really, really ambitious for me at the time.
Between my focus shifting to other places besides art for a while and being intimidated by how detailed I wanted it to be, this drawing sat as nothing more than a half-finished sketch for over two years. Now, however, I'm proud to finally present this to you all now that I'm making attempts to stay active with my art. I'm honestly really proud of how this turned out, and to finally show you guys my fantasy world I've held dear for so long. Enjoy!
"First Strike"
Jessie knows well that in the ruthless land of the wild west, a swift hand can mean the difference between life and death.
This piece took me way, way longer than I thought it would (I got a little busy with other stuff in my life for a bit) but fortunately I managed to finish it before the end of February. I was aiming to try a bit of perspective and shading with this piece, and I think in that regard it went fairly well.

It took way longer than I hoped it would, but here's a follow up to the previous piece I did. He is from the same story as well, being the other main character alongside Annabelle. I might try to make a post explaining the lore sometime soon, but until then I hope you enjoy.
