This is the kind of moral grey films need more of. Magneto is a victim of a very real crime and doesn’t want to see that crime happen again, but he’ll commit evil in pursuit of that noble goal. Professor X is an idealist who refuses to see the writing on the wall, but understands that violence begets violence, that evil begets evil. They both want the same thing but their approaches are so different as to nearly warrant literal, actual war between them. This kind of thing is more grounded than villains who are evil just because raisins.
