I can't believe we live in a world where there's an AI company unironically called "Palantir," and it isn't a parody. It's a real thing. I remember seeing a picture of an advertisement on here and thinking, "This HAS to be a joke. This is too on-the-nose to be real. They wouldn't honestly name an AI company Palantir, after the Seeing Stones from Lord of the Rings that are supposed to offer knowledge, but famously also might be feeding you misinformation from evil sources because 'we do not know who else may be watching.'" But then here I am listening to the BBC News discussing why the CEO of Palantir just published a Manifesto that sounds like it was written by a supervillain.

It's not just that Alicent asked "What am I to you?" to Rhaenyra this episode. It's that this whole episode is about love.

Alys trying like seven different methods to seduce Aemond when he feels alone in the world. Criston holding onto a love that was never really real to Alicent. Hugh's selfish idea of love in not considering Kat's wants and expecting her to be grateful. Baela and Alyn’s scene being a lonely, grief-filled connection being struck rather than a true romance (I'm pretty sure, at least. They've had like one conversation). Helaena asking why she was married to Aegon and confined instead of being allowed to be elsewhere, away from the fighting.

Maybe it's more appropriate to say the ep is about unhealthy love. So it's very fitting that the ending to the ep is Rhaenyra asking Alicent to do something monstrous in directly contributing to her son's death and Alicent being abhorred. Once again, the show is all about Rhaenicent and will continue to be.
