i think it’s hard for me to compare folklore to any of her previous albums, because to me this album stands like on its own in the sense of like. this is the album you listen to when it’s dark and youre trying to find comfort in something, when youre trying to like catch your breath after a panic attack, when youre like walking alone in nature. like her past albums have all been very unique but also similar whereas folklore is its own piece of work entirely. 

“women like hunting witches too, doing your dirty work for you” is literally such a clever fucking metaphor for how we’re programmed to fight against other women because of the internalized misogyny that’s been programmed into our brains and the men just sit back and benefit from us all fighting each other i’m losing it
