no fuse concept has ever given cherry clothes that she actually feels comfortable in. it’d be difficult to, unless gold star decided that they would be doing a more “boyish” concept which… wasn’t very likely. for that reason, cherry was more than used to feeling uncomfortable in what she was supposed to wear. or, at the very least, the difference between who she was and who she was supposed to be was clearer and made it easier for her to be… well, cherry, rather than kyunghwa. at least for the scene she’ll be shooting next she’s wearing pants instead of a dress. “ it’s probably just for the sake of dramatics, ” when are the aesthetics of one of their videos ever related to what the song is truly about? zimzalabim was a motivational song and the concept had been carnivals. “ aren’t you our main vocalist, suji? they expect you to have more emotions or some shit like that. i don’t know, you can ask the stylist but they are probably just as clued in as you and i. ” 

kyunghwa is present in body but not in mind – as per usual. with comeback preparations going at and the date coming so close, it meant all the girls were inevitably more busy. and kyunghwa even more so, as she has to attend meetings with the company to get everything perfected to the uttermost detail. she has one of those after the fittings, to talk about the girls’ dietary plans, to ask her in detail whether all of them are following exactly as they are supposed to or not. those are probably the worst. how the fuck is kyunghwa supposed to know everything the girls are putting into their bodies? why the fuck does that matter if they are doing the job right and they fit into the clothes? she doesn’t know, never will, but she knows she’s supposed to go, as they probably want to talk to her about other things as well. she is tapping away at her phone as she’s maneuvered around by the stylists, replying an e-mail, when minjung’s voice drags her back down. “ probably, if that makes people buy the albums, ” her reply is curt, as there’s no real reassurance she can give the younger girl and kyunghwa reckons minjung is aware of that. “ they probably expect you to be thankful that you’re wearing anything at all, i suppose. ” the stylist fitting her snickers at this and kyunghwa smiles. “ minjung, it’s just for a bit. we’ve done worst than wear tight dresses, or do you want me to ask them for the rookie dresses back? ” 

cherry’s most common looks for spring/summer aka how many long shorts and t-shirts does she actually own? cherry in her butch-lite aesthetic hates wearing dresses and skirts, only does it for work, and her wardrobe is basically all shorts and pants. she also doesn’t like short shorts and favors these long ones. t-shirts as loose-fitted as possible. in situations where she has to look slightly more presentable, she’ll favor her clothes in better and fancier fabric.

her relationship with her sexuality hasn’t always been a healthy one. she’s gone through a lot of struggles with internalized homophobia and comphet but by now cherry is much more comfortable in her skin and in her identity. she obviously cannot act up on it as much as she’d want to but she still,,, tries to get around at least. and as gay recognizes gay, it was added to her public profile that she made it to #4 in this year’s list of korean queer women’s favorite female idols.

kyunghwa didn’t care much for shopping, not for herself at least. most of her clothes were things she asked her stylist to pick and the woman did a great job of fulfilling kyunghwa’s expectations – so why would she waste a few hours of her day to walk around shops trying to find stuff to buy? better to hand her credit card off to someone who knew what they were doing and would be far more interested in the task at hand than kyunghwa ever could. still. she was doing laylia a favor, she reckoned, or the girl just wanted some company and she was unlucky enough to choose the wrong unnie to invite. kyunghwa hadn’t wanted to say no, however, as it’d have meant stay at home or go practice, neither of which she was currently all that interested in. “ why do you even bother to go shopping? ” she asked, arms wrapped around herself, watching the younger girl. “ aren’t you girls at that stage where your fans still send you gifts? surely, they get you plenty of expensive clothes. ”

it wasn’t often kyunghwa got to meet her brother – either of them, really. it came with the job, she reckoned, as she was often too busy to meet up with yul and iseul, even if the youngest lived with her. now it was even worse, considering as yul found himself joining a group that had him promoting overseas. she was happy for the boy, really, and being happy didn’t stop her from worrying. they managed to find an empty slot in their respective schedules and as much as kyunghwa would’ve preferred to have his company for the day she’d have to be happy with two hours. “ i’m meeting changmin later, ” kyunghwa told him, filling her glass with some water as the two of them waited for the food to arrive. it felt ridiculous for her to share something such as this – even more ridiculous for her to have a boyfriend, of all things. luckily, changmin was understanding and was about as interested in her as she was in him so they made it work in their own way. “ we have a dinner with his family this weekend and he wanted to… i don’t know, help me prepare psychologically to pretend to be straight for a couple of hours. as if i haven’t been doing that my whole life. ”

kyunghwa wasn’t the main dancer of the group but, as the leader, she inevitably took the initiative of leading their dance practices as well. by now, the girls were well acquainted with the choreography, having gone through the motions of practicing it enough times that no one was missing out on steps or anything like that. still, there were always details that a sharp eye like kyunghwa’s would inevitably catch. so she let the girls run through the choreography once more, this time sitting out so she could watch – and obviously there were mistakes. “ sooah, ” she called the girl out, allowing the rest to take a break while she spoke to the youngest. “ you need to make your movements sharper in the last chorus. the way you’re doing it makes it look lazy and unpolished. ”
