quick tldr;

couple of fun facts for all of you:

. just wanted to be a dancer, not an idol, but his parents didn't think just being a dancer would be enough to secure his livelyhood so he became an idol because that was the closest he could think of

. he is a tease and flirts as a mean of friendship. if he flirts with you, he likes you (as a person). however fan service? he will die before that happens.

. is rlly passionnate about dancing and will fight anyone who says idols can't dance.

baek jaeyoon is the son of a seamstress who works making costumes for theatre. his mom, baek seulgi, had him considerably young (she was 23) and his father was a one night stand so you know. no dad while he was a kid.

basically raised in the theatre, as soon as he was old enough for it he started taking drama classes that the company paid for because his mom couldn’t afford it but everybody loved her so you know. the least they could do.

his mom remarried when jaeyoon was a kid and his step-dad is great like he genuinely genuinely is excellent towards seulki and jaeyoon but... jaeyoon didn’t like him at all at first. while he grew out of that dislike, when he was a teenager him and his step-father would get into a lot of arguments, all the time.

the thing is that they started over very small things that jaeyoon made too big of a deal about and culminated in massive fights that had him leaving the house for a few days. whenever he pulled that he was forbidden from going to drama, dance and vocal classes and had to stay home looking after his younger brother.

mom wrote it off as teenage angst but honestly it was pretty critical and the only reason she didn’t realise how much was bc of being busy with work and her younger son.

jaeyoon was about to go to university for acting when his step-father lost his job and entered a pretty bad bout of depression due to not being able to find anything else and being unable to provide for his family. so jaeyoon, with no skills or degree, decided to enlist. the pay for soldiers is like ridiculous but it was more than nothing and he sent most of it to his mom to try to help at home.

the army was.... terrible. worst experience of his fucking life. he was punished often for his issues with authority and all that anger he used to externalise turned inward even more. his self hatred and deprecation started going up from there, and jaeyoon developed a tendency for self harm from there.

when his enlistment was over, his step-father had started working as a stagehand at the theatre, so as much as life wasn’t back to what it was, it was a bit better than the worst of it. which was why seulki pushed jaeyoon into auditioning for gold star, but for the acting division.

jaeyoon did, but when they asked to evaluate all his skills, he got offered a contract as an idol trainee and even tho being an idol wasn’t in his plans, he said fuck it and went.

terrible decision. second worst experience of his life, added even more to his self-hatred, had to shove even more anger down his throat, developed body image issues, and all that jazz.

pretty bummed when hot topick happened and he wasn’t allowed an opportunity bc he was a gold star trainee, started expecting to be asked to leave the company and was pretty much already looking for auditions when he was told he was going to debut.

doesn’t know how to feel about quicksilver yet but he’s excited about finally going on stage, while trying not to think about the inevitable bad mental state he’s going to end up in.

since she was young, she had dance classes, just as her mom did before giving it up for something more stable

dance isn’t what drove her as much as the feeling of a crowd being entertained by her

trained for 3 years, gold star had high hopes for her given her dance background + looks, hence her role in impulse’s a

a couple years after debut, the company manages to snag her an ost, and when that does well, they shove her onto as many osts as possible, but it manages to do basically nothing to help her or fuse’s fame, no matter the impact of the song itself, and they slow down on trying

that *big bad wolf vc* my dears, is what sets up her overall Thing, that no matter what she does, or how many people claim to love her, they don’t show up for her as a solo celebrity

it leaves her a little dejected, fearful, worried, but idol life isn’t something she minds doing anyway. part of her still wants to strive for more attention, and claw her way there, because she aches terribly to feel special and different, and to a degree, idol life will always give that to her

the archetype of the kid in middle school who calls themselves L and only draws in anime style and comes to school in cosplay and naruto runs around and randomly speaks japanese........ yeah, that was kiana as a kid

and really, she’s only let the problematic parts of it go. she’s still a big fat weeb (& has lots of other fandom type interests too)

an internet kid, someone who never got a big following. draws fanart, has written fanfiction, engages on fan forums. stays at home unless she’s dragged out by friends

she’s a very Normal, Everyday type person in most ways, and that bugs her to no end

she’s someone who as a kid thought she had superpowers, like full on believed it, and to this day still thinks well maybe it’s just not kicked in yet

considers herself ~an empath~ because she naturally has very strong emotions, and seeing or “feeling” the emotions of others makes her feel that way too. that includes positive And negative emotions

she can and is wrong about what she “feels” from others, but the emotional effect on herself is still the same

and because that happens so much, kiana retreats into herself

she has a very small inner circle, and isn’t very interested in more than surface level relationships with most people because it’s exhausting to feel so much all of the time

that means usually, most people meeting her will meet someone who can be doin a little doodle, you’ll say hi, she’ll say hi back, then go right back to her doodle

she’s Nice and polite enough, but doesn’t take those first steps. some ppl might view her coldly bc of it

HOWEVA if someone were to bring up one of her ~special interests, she would come off like a completely different person

okay so hwa was born in buenos aires, argentina

when she was seven, her parents passed away during a robbery leaving both her and her three year old sister, chunhui, to be taken care of by their grandparents

but both their grandmothers decided it’d be a better idea for the girls to move to south korea

so off they went to live with their mom’s parents in busan, south korea

from day one hwa was very very difficult. she was always the fussy one between the sisters, always the one with a temper, and it got worse after their parents passed and she butt heads with her grandmother aaaaaaaaaaaall the time

it only improved slightly when hwa started taking dance classes in her grandmother’s dance studio

she did it all, ballet jazz contemporary etc etc etc

participated in competitions all over the country all of that

but when she was fifteen her grandmother closed the studio in busan to open one in seoul and so her and her sister had to move there with her grandparents and it was another round of chunhwa being difficult bc she did Not want to be in seoul 

shortly after they moved, chunhwa and chunhui got in a car accident going to school and chunhwa broke her leg which made it impossible for her to dance for a few months

and to fill in the time she started taking vocal classes in the same place she took piano classes

found out she loved it so when she got into sopa, she went for the music track instead of the dance one (she argued that she also danced at the studio enough to compensate)

at her graduation, she sang a solo by herself and that’s when she was scouted for dimensions

didn’t rly want to go at first but her sister convinced her to try it out so she did and joined the company 

trained for a year and then was supposed to debut but then it got scratched and she got mad bc she didn’t want to be in a group in the first place and then when she Accepted it the company changed their minds? Unacceptable 

but stuck around for a bit longer and then debuted with lucid

had high hopes for herself esp when her members started getting solo opportunities but it’s been three years and nada so she’s like oh well if you don’t want to put effort into me i don’t want to put effort into the group
