I made this late at night and is a very umm surface level, tongue in cheek version of my actual opinion on the subject. But I’ve been seeing people I’d ratherrr not associate with taking this post and running with it, my fault for bringing up neopagans online. I don’t have a lot of patience nor respect for people who try to cling to some European cultural identity more than they try to fight against colonialism and racism. If you actually cared about fighting against colonialism you’d actually give a toss about the indigenous people around you instead of closing yourself off in a little bubble, saying you have welsh heritage or something and deciding that exempts you from having white privilege. If you want to take the steps towards looking at your roots you actually need to like, put the work in building and supporting communities that uplifts the people most affected by colonisation first and foremost. A lot of these kinds of groups are teeming with white supremacists (can’t imagine why) why are you trying to build off of rotten foundations from the get go? There’s obviously something wrong here. Some of you people are just clinging on to like having Irish great grandparents all while living on stolen land, not even knowing anything about the indigenous people around you.
