Education and being educated doesn't necessarily mean attending university. You can be educated by studying independently. Anyone, academic or not, can read Shakespeare or Homer, write essays on historical events, learn languages, the list goes on. To me academia is passion. It's learning because you have a thirst for it. Learning for the pleasure of it. Learning to be a better version of yourself. I do not understand those who spend years of their life studying a subject they hate just to get a good job that they loathe and dread getting up in the morning. I do not want to be that person. If i ever end up being that person, i hope, at least, to have books next to me that i love, to keep my sanity in this godforsaken world. Otherwise, what a sad existence would that be...
