Theyโre friends and theyโre gay
Do you ever look at your dog and go- โYouโre really living up to your name, huh? Maybe I should have picked something else!โ
This post brought to you by Magpie, think twice before naming your dog after a notoriously chaotic corvid!
im bored. honesty hour
have you ever eaten dog food/treats
yes, on purpose
yes, by accident
yes, but for another reason
no
reblog this post and put in the tags/replies when was the last time your breed took BIS at Crufts
the last winning Great Dane was Ch Elch Edler of Ouborough in 1953!
Never for either breed ๐คทโโ๏ธ
No BRT wins and AHTs arenโt accepted as a breed (to my knowledge) in the UK kennel club yet
Ch. Canigou Cambrai, "Albert," was the last English Cocker Spaniel to win Crufts in 1996.
The breed has the record for most BIS wins at Crufts with 7. All but this dog were 1950 and earlier, and were from the "Of Ware" kennel.
2014 with Ch./Am. Ch. Afterglow Maverick Sabre, โRickyโ. He got a beach day and grooming photo shoot post win, I love it! More fun photoshoots!

If she canโt see the snow, maybe it will go away? Iris is NOT pleased with the current weather situation, Magpie thinks itโs fun lol.
Took Magpie in to work for a real haircut and heโs starting to look like a proper little poodle! Iris was there for moral support, and also a bath
What a difference 6 months can make!

Rich people are so fucking boring they always just have like Frenchies. If I was rich I would have like 8 of the rarest fucking breeds you could imagine. Iโd have a fucking Braque du Bourbonnais. Iโd have a Tazy. Iโd have a Bolonka. People would come over and be like, โWhat kind of dog is this?โ And Iโd be like oh thatโs my Turnspit dog I paid to have a breeding program create from historical records. Get on my fucking level.
we got slightly more "snow" last night
I regretted for years not teaching Pixel to lie down for brushing, and he was so strict about his rules and anxious I was never able to re train his table behavior. Now heres Magpie- just deciding that if Iโm going to be doing boring things like brushing he might as well get a nap in ๐
the nearest depiction of an animal or other sentient fantasy creature to you at this moment comes to life right where it is (i.e. cat photograph, shark plushie, dragon painting, etc)
what happens to you
i am so dead
i need to go to the hospital
maybe a few things to be looked at but iโm fine in the end
iโm totally fine
iโm totally fine and iโm happy
my situation is really really really specific lemme tell you about it

assume it doesnโt know you (unless itโs actually a specific animal youโve met) and that itโs normal for its species and would do whatever was natural for it. including being too giant for and destroying the room itโs in. as well as dying immediately if its environment canโt support its life
Tiny ceramic Lhasa Apso! Absolutely love my new dog, my other pets might be confused as to how it randomly spawned, but I think itโll be fine

Let's talk about matting.
I think people often assume matting means a dog is being neglected, and while that's true for tight, close to the skin matting - there's different levels.
Light matting (coat that is webbed, clumping together, but not close to the skin and can be pulled apart with your fingers) is super common even in show dogs. They can happen due to friction but also just from living their life! My Tibetan Terrier, Hรกski, sometimes has light matting from off leash walks, or after a week of rain, or just from playing hard etc. This type of matting certainly can get worse and trap moisture if left alone to do so.
However. It's not the end of the world!
Here's an example of some light matting -
This one in particular was from off leash walks in the rain, where he got to run around and have zoomies in an environment where matts tend to form. It looks scary but it's actually not that hard to deal with.
Firstly, try to gently separate the forming matt with your fingers. Then, spray the area either with a detangling spray (I personally love the Brightworks Luxurious Detangling spray!) or a conditioning spray (you can mix together your dogs conditioner with water if you don't have any on hand). Then gently brush through the coat, I personally use a pin brush for this but a slicker can be useful too - just be careful as they can do more damage if not used with care. Lift the coat up and brush it in sections, don't try to tackle the entire matt in one go. Make sure not to rip the matting out with a comb and brush very gently as you don't want to damage the coat and make it more prone to matting, again, and worse.
And
Ta-da!
Exactly the same area brushed out before a bath.
Basically, some matting is normal and can happen especially on dogs with a lot of coat. Don't think you've neglected your dog if some light matting happens, but be proactive and don't let it get *worse* as that can happen quickly. Go through your dogs coat regularly to try to avoid moderate to severe matting happening. But light matting doesn't have to be the end of the world. ๐ฅฐ
