SQH goes to save LBH from the river and deliver him to TLJ, but TLJ immediately gets fascinated by this little man who broke him out of the seal. Although he believed SQH when he was told the truth of SXY betrayal, he also needed an excuse to keep this guy nearby.

Tianlang-jun sipped his wine slowly, enjoying the warmth that spread through his chest. As a Heavenly Demon, mortal alcohol did absolutely nothing for him, but a small exertion of his blood parasites could keep his body from metabolising it for a few minutes. Just enough to feel the burn against his throat.

"What has you so interested?" Su Xiyan asked. She looked down at the table imperiously, and Tianlang-jun smiled and obediently refilled her cup.

"This one has spotted an interesting character," he said, nodding over to a nearby stall selling fabric.

She followed his gaze to the sight of a short, round-faced man poking at some rolls of silk with a deeply unimpressed expression. As the two of them watched, he picked at a thread until it came loose and then squinted at it like a disapproving mother-in-law.

"... him?" Su Xiyan asked.

"That pendant around his neck is a several-thousand-year-old artefact of the Mobei clan," Tianlang-jun said. "Makes you wonder what some mortal merchant is doing with it."

"Not mortal," Su Xiyan said.

"No?"

"He stands like a cultivator. And moves like he's got qiankun space in his sleeves."

"You can tell from the sleeves?"

She hummed, not bothering to respond. Tianlang-jun placed his cheek in his hand and watched as the small man called over the silk merchant to begin perhaps the quickest and most brutal bartering session he had ever witnessed.

Su Xiyan drained her wine cup. "You have fun with him. I should be getting back to the Palace."

Tianlang-jun let his bottom lip jut, gazing up at her as she stood. "It's no fun without you."

"You'll live with it, I'm sure."

"I will, but I'll be imagining you critiquing my technique the entire time."

"It'll keep you sharp."

As she turned to walk away, she let a casual hand reach out and run through his bangs, dragging nimble fingers across his scalp and giving the slightest tug before letting go.

"Say," Tianlang-jun asked, stepping in close to the man's back as he was ducking his head to count the rolls of silk he had acquired, "Does your master know you're here?"

The short cultivator jumped, nearly sending the three rolls of silk in his arms to the dusty ground.

"What?!" he asked. Then he blinked. Tianlang-jun let his smile stretch wider, showing teeth, that charmingly human gesture which made his own kind draw their blades and bare their claws, ready for the predator to strike. 

This human must have lived amongst demons for long enough that his instincts were the same. He began to back away, glancing down around the rolls of fabric, likely to see if he could reach his sword from wherever he had it tucked away without dropping his burden. Tianlang-jun almost wanted to pounce on him a little, just to see if he could.

“This lowly one greats Junshang,” the human said quickly, and Tianlang-jun’s brows shot up. “Begging Junshang to forget this insignificant one and continue on his business.” 

“That’s a no, then,” Tianlang-jun said. For each step the cultivator took back, Tianlang-jun took one forward. “Because I’ve met the young prince of the North, and I’ve certainly never seen him wear—” he reached out and plucked up one of the bolts of fabric, spreading it out to consider. “—so much yellow.” 

The cultivator snatched it back, scowling. “Hey, hands off the merchandise!” As soon as he had snapped the words, he paled. Tianlang-jun’s smile widened that much further. “Ah, that is…” 

Before he could make excuses, Tianlang-jun took another of the bolts of fabric and fell into step beside the cultivator. “Come, walk with me. Let’s see how long it takes your minder to notice. I don’t suppose you feel like lunch?”

"Only if you're paying," the cultivator said.

"I'm afraid this lord has no human money," Tianlang-jun said, fluttering his eyelashes. "Perhaps my dear new companion would treat me?"

The cultivator rolled his eyes. "Aha, yeah, try that on someone it actually works on. This servant is way to cheap to be funding any demonic sugar babies."

Also, pls, Tianshang has become my obsession the past weeks, all I can think is how Tianlang-jun's first love was also a cultivator in yellow and how he is doomed to love the sun again again and again-

Daddy on Daddy action has been stuck in my head for DAYS since I saw that like I NEED more of them so badly and I truly adore Mobei Jun so all three of them...what a lovely Demon Sandwich Qinghua has 💞

YES YES THE FACT THAT HIS FIRST LOVE WAS A CULTIVATOR IN GOLD-

Hold on because I have thoughts about them I love to think that either the first time Tianlang-Jun saw Qinghua or saw him from behind but genuinely just forgot who he was. He was severely taken aback because I like to headcanon Shang Qinghua with curly hair and Su Xiyan is said to look closely to Luo Binghe so From Behind with Qinghua's hair down, An Ding golden robes, and for a moment an air of unwritten confident as he manages the peaks with ease, he was briefly reminded about someone he onced loved.

HOWEVER!! I really enjoy the idea that he fell in love with Shang Qinghua because he's so drastically different from Su Xiyan. He's a crying, manipulative, two faced man, that will do anything to save himself, someone that genuinely has a lot of love in his heart to manage his peak with as much care it while juggling a spoiled kings kingdom that is OBVIOUS he has an attachment too. This nervous, sweaty, pathetic little human will fall to his knees and cry for mercy while plotting your demise, he's cunning, smart and uses his resources so well. And he writes the best smut he's ever seen. Things he didn't even think could be put into writing let alone attempt. He's head over heels and he's absolutely fascinated at how strange he is. How interesting. Completely different.

post-maigu ridge but pre-moshang getting together, for whatever reason sqh and tlj are in the same proximity in front of others, probably their first ever conversation -> sqh is really not as scared as the others think he should be! sqh usually does his snivelly coward bit when around demon lords, and no one would call him stupid so why does he seem...weirdly chill? is he starting a conversation about the latest bingqiu rpf?! 🤨

why is tlj interested in what sqh is saying? why is he laughing at the joke sqh made? why is he so enthusiastically responding, leaning forward in interest, eyes glimmering??
