i got inspired by antique furniture -> decided to try and make a wooden doll.

she is whittled entirely out of balsa wood with a craft knife, and colored with wood dye. the cabinet has miniature hinges made of tube beads and a metal rod, and closes with a magnet. she absolutely should hold a sentimental & important object, but i don't have any that are the correct size, so i just put in some cute trinkets.

been waiting for the new school year to start so I can get back into substituting, but I’ve been so anxious about it, about being in a new school district. I’m wondering if I should just suck it up and go back to trying to get an actual steady job 😬

#I loved substituting and I loved the flexibility #but I’m ridiculously anxious about the coming school year #I have zero info on this school district whereas the last one I was in I had a lot of experience visiting the schools my brothers went to #so I knew where things were and where to park and all that good stuff #and this new district I moved into is seemingly more… involved? had to watch another training video for them #which… oooh wow rough a video. how terrible. I know I know. but I get anxious about everything #but yeah… bigger schools. way bigger population. maybe a lot more competition. I’m in the dark here #I feel like I was just really starting to get into a good flow. then I moved and I’m even worse off #I was so proud of myself. I was good at it. kids liked me. kids called me the cool sub! and now I’m starting over. worse off than before.#I’m fucking 37. why can’t I just get my shit together? why can’t things just stay good?#like the old dogs say. life is ruff.#I just want to be a fake teacher on the days that I feel good. I don’t care if the pay is shitty. I want itttttt #been trying my best not to be too depressed but I’ve been hit big by nothing feeling good #like… I get tired of thinking about music or food or tv. it all just feels so unsatisfying. makes my brain tired.#feels like work trying to enjoy things #my thoughts are mud #and I’m lonely and gross and I’ve been having major body dysphoria.
