I was planning to learn Korean in 2025. Any tips that might help me?? (I tried to learn Korean earlier, too, but the pronunciation and grammar were making me go crazy).
For beginner I usually start with textbook, I'm using Korean Grammar in Use right now. I think the book covers almost all the basic so it's recommended for beginnersπ
Some of my tips are:
- Writing: write your own sentences after study a grammar point. I usually try to make 5 example sentences of my own for each grammar point. This helps me remember the structure also understand vocabularies with context. Once you are comfortable enough, you can start write daily journal in Korean.
Oh!! Also it's totally okay to use dictionary/google translate if you are not sure about something.
- Reading (part 2): If you want to read for funsies you can try read Webtoon! In App store it's called λ€μ΄λ² μΉν°. You can start from slice of life genre since the vocabulary are mostly used in daily life. It's so fun to read like this because there's visual to understand the context.
- Speaking/Pronunciation: well technically it's hard to practice this if you don't have friends to talk to but you can try shadowing. Look for any Korean video/vlog and then try to shadow the way they talk. For beginners you can start with 0.25 speed. You can also try to read aloud while reading Korean words. Fake it til you make it.
- Immersion: The point is to use your target language like your native language. Use Korean as your phone language, write your grocery shopping in Korean, play games using Korean dub/sub etc. I know some people always recommend to use language app to study but personally it's more like complementary rather than the main source.
- Last but not least.... always have fun while learning language :D

Today I revised 5 grammar points from KGIU and then I made shopping vocabulary + example sentences. It was so fun because as I learn new words, I also learn how to use them in sentences by context. I will do this kind of study regularly and see how fast can my Korean improve.
Also... I post my study timelapse on my TikTok just in case anyone want to check it out... here you go...

Today I tried to read Korean short story, it's called Hongbu Nolbu. I think it's easier to memorize vocabularies when you study them with context, like in reading for example. Also, when you read in Korean you passively learn how to structure a sentence.
After studying, I went to this dessert shop near my place. I bought this matcha ice cream and it tastes great! Definitely my favorite.
Merry Christmas and happy holiday to everyone who celebrates it!
So many things happened in life recently but I'm here again posting about my language learning progress.
I've been catching up Korean Grammar in Use book. I've noticed that I can understand simple Korean sentences here but it took me awhile to make/create sentences. So I'm going to work on that too.
My goal is to finish revising KGIU book before 2025. Wish me luck!
