SPY x Family Theory: The [Redacted] theory
If you've read my fic Last Days of Operation Strix, you're probably familiar with the [Redacted] theory. In fact, the whole story is based on the following premise: Yor is not in love with Twilight or Loid. She's in love with [Redacted], Twilight's true self.
Some people theorize that, by the end of the story, Twilight will turn into Loid Forger, but l don't think that's the case.
Both Twilight and Loid Forger are masks.
Twilight is the mask [Redacted] uses to protect himself. Loid is the mask [Redacted] uses to express himself.
At the beginning, before meeting Yor and Anya, [Redacted] is buried deeply inside the Twilight persona.
But little by little, Yor and Anya are digging [Redacted] out of Twilight. And his mask is starting to slip. There's plenty of evidence:
Here's some more evidence of [Redacted] showing up. Even Nightfall sees it.
Every time he smiles like that, when nobody is looking, it's [Redacted] without any masks, just loving his family.
Can you tell the difference between Twilight and [Redacted]? It's easy! Twilight usually has the famous Twilight mode: squinty eyes and blatant lies. He's a cold spy who puts his mission first.
And [Redacted]? He's man who cares about his family and other people wellbeing before his own. Anya's dad, Yor's husband. This man actually has feelings.
Here's Redacted in his original form. At his core, a child who is afraid of his dad, who lost his mom. A person with a good heart.
My final theory about [Redacted]: Something will happen, a point of no return, that won't allow him to hide behind Twilight's mask and make him realize his family is more important than his mission. In the end, it'll be [Redacted] the one who stays with his family.
