In  the  cold,  rain-glossed  hush  of  late-2016  London,  Day  REDACTED  rebuilds  herself  in  a  loft  flat  full  of  books,  records,  Hobonichi  planners,  trinkets,  and  the  holy  tyranny  of  her  white  cat,  Peekaboo.  Three  years  after  vanishing  from  an  older  mentor  who  made  secrecy  feel  like  devotion  and  possession  feel  like  love,  Day  joins  a  BDSM  site  under  the  name  petrichors,  hoping  only  for  something  honest  enough  not  to  bruise  her  where  she  is  already  tender.  Then  Northbound  messages  her:  careful,  articulate,  dominant  without  carelessness,  a  man  made  of  velvet  restraint  and  dangerous  questions.  Their  connection  blooms  first  through  text,  then  voice,  then  ritual:  books  annotated  like  prayers,  songs  traded  like  keys,  colors  whispered  as  safewords,  and  late-night  calls  where  wanting  becomes  less  frightening  because  it  is  always  held  with  care.
