honestly i don't know if my advice can help you work it out but i'll try to give my perspective, according to what i feel and my experience.

"I'll do every part of my method but my eyes never open there."

i feel like you're treating shifting purely with the intent of a method. not saying that is bad, you can shift with methods, even i have so, it's not an issue but what i think might be an issue happening with you is, you taking shifting as a physical process.

you're taking it as a car; you'll turn on the engine (your method) and drive the car to your destination (your dr)

but it is like.. say a bungee jump..? you fall from the cliff (your method that pushes you/throws you into your dr) i don't know if it makes sense, it makes sense in my head T-T

you have to shift your awareness, so you have to detach it from your cr and attach it to your dr and both of them are in you so you just fall into your dr - with the help of a method if you need.

and that's where your 'micromanagements' stem from. because you're treating it (your method) like a car and checking out of your window to see again and again whether your arrived rather than falling into the inevitable with the bungee jump.

fall into your dr, immerse into it that's what it is, isn't it?

i'd say there's no intent, just directly skip it and tune in your dr (with a method if you like)

what worked for me was i'd say my attitude and belief/approach towards shifting. when i came to know about shifting i wasn't shook out of my mind with this phenomenon it was just like "wow..wait" i already assumed it real as i'd say i'm quite open minded with things like this..? (i've been in the subliminal community and in manifesting/loass before getting to know about shifting so it made it easier for me to accept as aren't they the same sides of a coin) though ofcourse i struggled with it, them all but i always felt neutral about it. so i just kept moving and moving until i figured it out myself and how i want to understand and do/apply it. i've shifted with methods (infact, my first shift was because of it) : robotic affirming + sats, hypnogogic state +affirming, hypnogogic state + visualization + affirming. also just simple, meditating a bit -> getting into a drowsy state with it and just attaching my awareness to my dr.

honestly the 'eye opening' part is not a method at all, neither awake nor asleep. it's just an act that happens. say, you do an asleep method to shift and assume to wake up in your dr, so that will happen. you shift to your dr -> open your eyes there (automatically, same as it happens here when you wake up everyday)

say, you do an awake method, so you will shift and directly become aware in your dr. you don't have to physically open your eyes, it just happens.

you're confusing it. shifting at it's core is becoming aware in/of your dr. your just 'shift' your awareness so as your 3d/ outer world, what you're seeing changes and you end up 'shifting' to your dr.

Also how did you really shift and how it felt like doing? How do you do it after the first time, like just shift? And how do you stay in your dr? I have many questions and a bit frustrated why I still didn't do it.

Also how would explain and say what shifting is with you current mindset and knowledge about it?

hii! i'm glad to answer your questions, it's not a bother at all. i'll try it explain things as good as i can on my the basis of my experience.

i've too have those minishifts and 'foggy dreams' where you think you did shift but are not so sure. for me the distinction and the way to tell if i did shift is intuition and how it felt. when i have vivid dream or memories from my dr i can right away tell it was a dream/flashback. but it's hard when it's a 'foggy dream' so i rate it as a shift on the basis of solidity (if it makes sense..?) like: was i able to sense things, think as my drself or was i just my crself as an observer; was i the experiencer or just the observer, could i feel any type of sense even if singular while i was 'there' - those are my questions. my thought process for minishifts is similar too.

i really shifted by doing what you can call a 'method'. i calmed myself and got in a drowsy state (where you're just about to sleep) and kept affirming on loop in the back of my mind as i sinked deeper in the the drowsy state and just shifted. (my brain was randomly conjuring flashes of my dr as i was kind of going in and out in it until i slept i think and just shifted) you stay in your dr the same way you just stay here. it's normal. you just stay.

with my current mindset, experience and how i feel about shifting, i'd say shifting is just changing you awareness. you experience things you are aware of. like just say you're in a room so, you just experience being in that room and nothing outside of it as only the room is the point of your awareness. so, you just shift by simply changing you awareness. be it by any method such as affirming, visualising, 5 senses etc anything!
