Ahem! I feel like Shelly is a good example of what can happen if you're sheltered. She lacks a lot of experience with certain things and doesn't know how to express her feelings very well because they're always… ignored.

Shelly not understanding proper boundaries is a good way to show this. She's often treated like a teenager (or just a younger adult?) and isn’t allowed to make her own decisions. Whether others do this intentionally or not, it has a really bad effect on her. I’m not excusing her actions toward Bendy, especially considering how uncomfortable he was with the situation. It was so clear that he didn’t want to be touched.

But this might be the first time Shelly can make her own choices, especially when it comes to interacting with someone new. But she doesn’t realize that she’s making the wrong choices. She’s never had the chance to learn and adapt because she was never given the opportunity. Just imagine being stuck in Gardenview your whole life.

She's literally sheltered from the outside world. This is NOT a good thing. It is NOT.

And it’s obvious she holds a grudge against Dandy, especially because he’s so secretive with her. It reminds me of how some parents keep things from their children to keep them innocent, but in reality, that only makes them more curious later on, which can lead to bad actions and interactions.

So, it's kind of on point for her to “act out” and snatch Bendy away for questions. Because she's trying to learn more, and I wonder what caused this. I WONDER.

Also, I’ve seen a lot of unnoticed misogyny towards Shelly after this update, whether it was unintentional or not. I’m watching some of you like hawks. As I said, this is not to excuse her behavior, but to help you understand it.

I know yall have been excited to share her in the story and we been excited to see her, but if she isn’t going to be her own character. Then that almost feels like a slap to the face to all the women who are going to school and have such amazing dreams for there futures a take inspiration from media.

I’m not trying to be mean I love your and flys writing and how the story has progressed and how you touch on topics, and the women in your story but I feel like there is a lot her pressure on Shelly as a character alone since she’s is hopefully going to been in the story a lot more. that it be a shame if she was well dumb down.

i genuinely think you shooting me in the chest and then calling me insults in languages that don't exist more would be less offensive than this ask is

if after all we did to

work in as many female rubberhose characters as we could, hours spent fleshing them out and finding ways to work them into their own characters with their own motivations, despite the fact that there are a CONSIDERABLE lack of actual female characters in the og for us to work with,

having several people come into our inboxes and comments to degrade and insult us for "replacing" their favs with female characters

if after all of that, we reduced our character that we have been vying and waiting and yearning to get to be a PLOT DEVICE for MALE characters
