The characters we dropped⌠:(
If you have followed along from the start (good job, thanks) you will notice that we have changed a few characters along the way. Here are the folktale and character descriptions we cut out to fit better with the adventure and the plot:
He is a character in a Norwegian folktale, also known as âThe White Bear King Valemon.â He is actually a prince who has been enchanted and lives as a white bear. A princess goes with him to a castle, where she lives comfortably, but she is not allowed to see him at night when he is in human form. When she breaks this rule, the curse worsens and he disappears. After that, the princess must set out on a long and difficult journey to find him again and free him from the curse. In the end, she succeeds, and he becomes human once more.In short, the story is about love, trust, and trials, where the princess must show courage and perseverance to save King Valemon.Â
In the character design we wanted to bring out the polar bear vibes of him. So we have a few different proposals for his class. He could be a druid who changes into a polar bear, because druids have the special ability to do that. Or maybe he is gonna be a barbarian, so when he gets angry he turns into a polar bear(kinda like The Hulk vibes). The last we were discussing was a cleric, but we didn't find out that much for now.Â
For weapons the classes make him a spellcaster and then since we think polar bear vibes we want to give him claws, either in polar bear form or maybe in a Wolverine type style.Â
The specific looks for him isn't discussed that much, only that he is gonna give of himbo vibes. He also gets the resemblance of a norwegian national outfit for men, with some shorts and suspenders with some flowery pattern, a vest, maybe a shirt and a small necktie. Since he is king we think he needs a brooch shaped as a crown.
In Norwegian folktales, the princess is an important character, often appearing alongside the hero Askeladden. She is usually the kingâs daughter and is often described as beautiful, wise, or connected to a special challenge or task. In many stories, she serves as a reward, where the hero must complete difficult tasks or prove himself worthy in order to win her. Sometimes she is in danger and needs to be rescued, while in other cases she sets challenges or riddles that the hero must solve. She can also be clever and play an active role in helping the hero succeed, making her more than just a passive figure in the story.
For the princess we landed on a half-elf race in the class of rogue. We are giving her a dagger, maybe a rapier(a thin sword), a crossbow or a little bag of peas(the princess and the pea) to make opponents unstable.Â
She is gonna have long light brown hair, maybe put it up in an updo or we wanted to give her an old school snood(like pearly og diamonds or something). The concept of secret pants is fun for her, like she is a princess rogue, she needs secret pants.
She needed a name too since she doesn't have one, so we brainstormed and got like 17 names, so maybe one of those or a combination. I think the most wanted names were: Ingrid, Astrid and Solfrid, but we don't know what it's gonna be yet.
Because of the smaller size of the D&D adventure we had to cut a few things and unfortunately that included these two characters, so if you end up playing our campaign(thank you for that), and you miss the princess and king valemon we are sorryâŚbut that's how it went.
