NPC = non-playable character
We have just explained the playable characters that we have made for this campaign, but there are also something called NPC’s or non-playable characters. Those are characters in the game which are not playable, the playable characters interact with these NPC’s throughout the game. Like a side character that's only there to drive the story forward, and be funny or interesting. Here is one of those characters:
Ola nordmann:
Ola Nordmann is an NPC(non playable character). He is a merchant that we encounter throughout some rooms, like room 2 where he is ice fishing. He is gonna steal stuff from different rooms and it's gonna be a running joke that stuff disappears, and then Ola Nordmann tries to sell it to us in other rooms. He is obsessed with ‘vipps’, which is the Norwegian version of paypal.Â
He is gonna look like a Norwegian, blonde, tall, blue eyed guy. He ofc har his snus(zyn), cus every Norwegian guy has like 5 snus at the time… he will also be wearing the typical knitted sweater called a Marius sweater, and have his skis with him, as all Norwegians are born with skis on their feet.Â
So who is Ola Nordmann? In Norway Ola Nordmann is both a nickname for the average Norwegian and a personification of the Norwegian people. He is our version of Jon Doe. In Denmark his name is Herr Sørensen, in Sweden his name is Medelsvendson and in Germany they say Otto Normalverbraker. What name is Ola Nordmann in your country?Â
Linguists have found in books that Ola Nordmann was mentioned in toasts and speeches in 1844.Â
80 years later, that name was used to describe an average Norwegian.Â
