Okay so I saw that the latest Fitz and the Fool book got published in French a few days ago (I think it’s basically the first half of AF but I’m not sure).

And for the life of me, I can’t tell who this guy is supposed to be. Like???

These are covers of the old Russian editions of the books by Robin Hobb. 1. “Royal Assassin” (2003) It seems Melisandre and Stannis Baratheon from the “Game of Thrones” on the cover О_о…

2. “Fool’s Errand” (2004) O_O … What is this? It’s a horse with horns, guys!! Dragonhorse.

Reading Golden Fool...

Still a good ¼ to go but I think it’s safe to say I have reached that point where there are too many feels for me to read this book during lunch breaks at work ;_;

Guess it’s time to see if I have any middle-grade stuff left in my to-read pile…

Update: Well, that was so emotionally exhausting, and so ominous about the next book, that I literally needed a two year break before I was ready to start Fool’s Fate. -_-; I’m still worried about it but finally detached enough from my emotional over-investment that I’m ready to deal with these idiots again. So now I’m on page 187 of FF. Let’s see how this goes… x_x

Slowly working up the energy to finish FF. It’s hard because I get pretty bad book hangovers and Fool’s actual “Fate” gave me one of the worst I’ve ever had (despite not having actually finished the book yet), but also because I’ve decided that this is where I’m going to stop, so it will be “the end”. Goodreads has convinced me that the F&F trilogy is decidedly not for me; I want to hold onto these characters I love the way they are now. I have carefully looked through enough vague-spoilers that it’s become obvious to me that F&F will have extra helpings of everything that has made me feel bad all week about Fool’s Fate AND more of everything I couldn’t handle about Ship of Destiny (same reason I decided ages ago that I wouldn’t be able to read Rainwilds) so it’s a double-nope for me. There’s probably no way I could get through it anyway so I should just make this decision and stick with it. I get terrible book hangovers as it is, I don’t need more heartache - finishing Fool’s Fate will be enough of one. I don’t need to see my faves tortured any more than this (I cannot imagine a payoff where torturing them more than this would be worthwhile or forgivable or even maintain their integrity as characters), so I’ll just have to say goodbye and hold onto my love of them the way they are. While I am still able to make frivolous headcanons and they are not completely broken and I don’t have to cry every time I think of them. If I need to read something after this I’ll just go re-read the first trilogy. That’s a better idea. I... I guess I’m just feeling extremely disappointed that the same author who made me fall in love with these characters and has such refreshing writing skill and wonderful world-building, insists on using that skill to write so much stuff that I seriously can’t actually manage to read.

I can't sleep. Why did I start reading emo things when I was going to be PMS-ing. I'll just blame this on the PMS and not me being lonely and over-relating unreasonably to books to the point of crying about them. FML.

Fool’s Fate reading

Soo... I just skimmed/skipped the better part of 200 pages (between the Fool being captured, to Fitz finding them) because I didn’t feel like crying for a week or throwing the book out the window. I’ll probably go back and read it later for more plot context, but like. I just can’t do it without Fool. It’s bad enough knowing what happens, but it was even worse NOT knowing and then not knowing when anything good was ever going to happen again. x_x I’m so weak. Read about 40 pages from where I re-started until things were resolved enough to make me feel okay stopping, and UGH SO MANY FEELS. Unfortunately I have other things to do today, so, time to stop crying and go put my functional adult clothes on. T_T

(Fool’s Fate reading update)

I finally got to the tent scene I was waiting for, where Fitz/Fool make up after being estranged for so long and UGH NOW I REMEMBER HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM ugh the feels. I’m halfway through and it’s still fine but I’m so worried it’s going to get bad soon. I mean I know in some ways it’ll have a “happy ending” but like. Let’s be honest I don’t actually care about Molly anymore? I care about Beloved more than I care about any of the other adults (though I am very invested in most of the kids/teens?). It’s been safe for too long and I don’t trust Robin Hobb not to traumatize me, so now that I am at the halfway point I’m just sitting here like “What is she gonna do? What kind of knife is she going to stab me with, how vital an organ is she gonna aim for, when is it going to happen, where is it going to come from???” Goddamit, I really shouldn’t have read Liveships; in the end I think it mostly just traumatized me, coz I didn’t feel this way after reading the first trilogy.
