First Snow

I would love to see this group eventually get off the ground, but for now I am just tinkering with this as a hobby during a busy grad school semester. If I get it all done and decide this is something I can do/want to do, then great! If not, oh well.

Avery MacDuff is a 17 year old Ravenclaw ghost. They were a muggleborn who passed during The Battle of Hogwarts. Someone once said they used to look like Madison Bailey or maybe it was Chella Man.

LAST NIGHT I LOST THE WORLD

Avery was supposed to have the world at their feet before they were forced to go into hiding during their 6th year at Hogwarts. Flitwick raved about their charms, their potions rivaled that of Granger and Malfoy in the year above them, and internship opportunities were lining up. But when they heard the students were making their stand, they knew they couldn't stay in hiding. They had to help or die trying.

And then they did. One moment they were on the third floor, three younger students hiding behind them as the Death Eaters closed in. The next the battle was over and so was their life. At first, they were angry but then they began to settle in. The secret they had always held close to their chest was that they felt smothered under the pressure of success. McGonagall lets their sister visit sometimes and it feels like they have actually been making friends for the first time in their ... death?

They spend their days exploring the corners of the castle, giggling with friends both living and dead. At night, the whole library is theirs. The new librarian always sets out whatever books they would like and Avery even managed to figure out how to turn the pages. They had never been so happy until they saw the Dark Mark - and realized they won't be able to protect anyone when history repeats.

AND GAINED THE UNIVERSE

Eliza Bellechant was a Hogwarts ghost while Avery was a student. They never would have expected that in death, they would be Avery's best friend. Jonas Ramley is a a good friend, a gentle person, and one of the only reasons Avery regrets being a ghost. Having a crush is hard when you will never grow up. Eleanor Sinclair is the new librarian and a kind presence to all students - including those passed on, like Avery.

Hannah Longbottom is a forty-one year old Hufflepuff alumni. They are a halfblood working as the Hogwarts matron and think they looks a bit like Katheryn Winnick and Erika Linder.

COURAGE IS LIKE LOVE

The war never felt real to Hannah. It boiled up on the periphery of their life. While they were willing to fight they never really thought it would touch them. That changed the day their mother died. By the time the last battle ended, Hannah was disillusioned with magic and simply wanted to search out happiness where they could have it. When they were offered the chance to return and finish out their last year at Hogwarts, they turned it down. Instead, they took up a job at the Three Broomsticks that let them meet interesting people and visit interesting places on their day off.

This was where they met Neville again. They had known them, of course, but not for who they were behind Dumbledore’s Army. Hannah drew Neville back out into the world and Neville showed Hannah the magic in life again. Hannah was in love with them before they knew that they had begun, and they have never looked back. Their life together has been everything they could have wished, with a partner they loved, a son and daughter they  adored, and a life that they were excited to live.

Eventually, when their children were older and little Alice had begun at Hogwarts, Hannah found themself longing for more challenge than the Three Broomsticks could give them. With the support of their family, Hannah finished their NEWTS and completed healer training just as Madame Pomfrey retired. It could not have been better timing. But it also means that Hannah is the one who receives students injured by accidents or fights. They can’t help but notice the increase of the second and remember when they saw something very similar not 25 years before. They can’t help but think of the missing three who, much like Hannah’s mother, never got the chance for care.

IT MUST HAVE HOPE FOR NOURISHMENT

Alice and Jonah Longbottom are Hannah’s children, whom Hannah loves and could not be more proud of. Neville Longbottom is Hannah’s spouse whom they are still completely in love with, mimbulus mimbletonia and all. Harper Darling is a student interested in becoming a healer, and who has begun interning under Hannah. Hannah’s grown very fond of them. Parvati Patil and Hannah could hardly have been called close at Hogwarts, but have somehow become good friends since Hannah began working there.

Isadora Nott is a fifteen year old Gryffindor student. They are a pureblood in their 5th year. They think they look a little like Ana de Armas or Fiona Palomo.

WHAT MAY LOOK LIKE A SMALL ACT OF COURAGE

By the time Isadora was born, several conflicts had been both begun and ended. The dust from the Nott family schism had settled and the only family Isa knew was one that had left the ideas of the old world behind in favor of each other. Their father and mother occasionally told them stories of the family they lost, but they did not understand what had truly happened until they were older.

Isa hadn’t known the sting of loss in the same way their parents and half-brother had. Rather than grief, they only knew indignant anger at the rejection of people they never knew. They would spare no second thought to the people who hadn’t wanted them. They would therefore define themselves according to the standards they set for themself. Their courage grew in a thousand little ways, safe as they were from the harsh world their  mother and father had been born into. Their love gave them the courage to speak their mind when others said they should be silent and to stand up for their beliefs when the rest of the world might disagree. 

They have always been a Gryffindor through and through. When they  boarded the train, they could never have guessed that they would stumble upon a compartment by chance that contained three others who would come to be their siblings. With Andie, Iris, and Carlie at their back, Isadora can only be braver still. But now that Andie has gone missing, Isadora’s confidence is faltering.

IS COURAGE NEVERTHELESS

Iris Zabini, Andromeda Malfoy, and Carlie McLaggen are Isa’s best friends and the sisters she never had. Now Isadora’s little family has been broken with Andromeda’s disappearance. Warren Nott is Isadora’s half-sibling, to whom they are very close. Evangeline Nott is Isadora’s cousin, who they passionately hate. Alexa Fiorenza is someone Isadora looks up to and really admires. They have become a mentor to them. Hugo Weasley and Isa were close friends when they were younger, but have drifted apart over the years. This is something that only gives Isadora more regret now that Hugo has gone missing.

Kaleb Finnigan is an eighteen year old Gryffindor student. They are a halfblood in their seventh year, and looks strikingly like Jack Falahee or Josha Stradowski. 

As long as I want, I have reason for living;

Kaleb grew up with the unfortunate weight of always wanting to be something just a little bit more than they were. Their family had a home in the countryside, but they longed for a house by the lake. They scored the most points during pick-up Quidditch games, yet they wanted to be a part of a league. Their professors spoke of him becoming a fine Auror, and they longed to become a Curse Breaker. 

This persistent want for more likely stems from the fact that Kaleb never truly wanted for anything. Their family was well off enough, their parents loved them, their sibling was exactly what one would expect, and making the grade at Hogwarts was easy enough. Some may say that Kaleb lacks appreciation for how favorably life has treated them, and yet they’re always finding some way to get into trouble for the sole purpose of digging themself out of their own grave. 

Pair reckless dissatisfaction with the pride of Gryffindor House, and you’ve created the perfect spiral. Kaleb surrounds themselves with those people that push them, and while frustration occasionally wins out (and they spend the next few hours explaining away bloody knuckles), they’ve finally been able to find some peace with where they’re at in life. With graduation only a year away, the future is less an aspiration and more of a reality. 

Satisfaction is death. 

Jenna Jones is Kaleb’s best friend. They are the only person who makes them feel as if anything is possible.  Kendra Finnigan is Kaleb’s younger sibling, and they pride themself on their ability to turn their face scarlet from embarrassment in under thirty seconds.  After a rough start, Kaleb has become friends with Victoire Weasley.  Sawyer Finch-Fletchley has always annoyed Kaleb, solely because Sawyer’s future appears so clear-cut. 

Jarrett Flint is an eighteen year old Slytherin student. They are a pureblood in their 7th year and is often told they looks like Michael B. Jordan or perhaps Shamir Bailey.

Family ain’t who you’re born with

Ah, reputation. For the first half of Jarrett’s life, they believed that reputation was to be protected at all costs, that even those closest to you would try to tear your image to shreds simply because they could. They were proud of themself, and more importantly, they were proud of their family. Yes, the Flints had been on the “losing” side of the war, but that didn’t mean they were wrong. 

Then Jarrett got to Hogwarts and met the cousins who’d left the family when they were little and Jarrett’s world suddenly shifted. The kind, patient professor and joyful cousin did not line up with the leeches Jarrett’s parents told them to expect. The first thing Jarrett started to question was this story, then everything else followed. Darian became an outlet for these questions and, eventually, a turning point. 

After finding a box of newspaper clippings from the war commending the Flint family for their “heroic mutilations,” Jarrett left the mansion in a swirl of damnations. They moved in with Darian and Hayley, and ignored the family’s plea to stop acting this way. Eventually, Jarrett’s father decided it was better to cut his loses, and Jarrett received formal notification that they were no longer considered heir to the Flint name. Since then, Jarrett has worn rebellion like a badge upon their robes, often being the first to disagree with antiquated teaching styles or ancient school hierarchies. Despite claiming that the housing system is a thing of the past, Jarrett’s ambition to change the world colors them as green as any of their housemates. 

it's who you die for

James Potter and Jonah Longbottom are Jarrett’s best friends, and Jarrett couldn’t imagine it any other way. Darian and Hayley Flint are Jarrett’s cousins, and the only part of their family that they are still on good terms with.  The name Bianca Avery has never been scrawled in Jarrett’s good books, and they strongly disapprove of Hayley’s adoration of the Ravenclaw. 

Emma Finch-Fletchley is a fifteen year old Hufflepuff student. They are a halfblood in their 5th year. They have been compared to Freya Allen and Anna Sophia Robb a time or two.

In the depth of winter, I finally learned

After Emma’s first year at Hogwarts, a letter arrived at their family’s home, addressed to their father. They’re a bright one, scrawled Professor Selwyn’s handwriting. With a bit of extra help, they may end up being the best in their year. I can see the Ministry vying over which department they belongs in when they’re older. Their father told Selwyn he was proud, yet the letter found it’s way into the trash when Emma wasn’t looking. Emma would have never known, had their mother not fished it out and brought it to them later that night. There was a large coffee stain on it’s upper corner.

Emma returned to school conflicted. They wanted to succeed, as did every other student, but they were so accustomed to seeing Sawyer curse at their  books over break that they didn’t want to stand too far apart. They pretended to understand a little less in classes than they truly did and the next letter home was less than favorable. It is only now, in their fifth year, that Emma has decided to cast aside the charade and work for their own future. They love this world and one day they hope to defend it as an auror.

Ready to strap down for their O.W.L.s, Emma has ostracized themself slightly from their friends, yet always seems to make up for it on weekends when they show up at their door with a bright smile, rosy cheeks, and a box of Bertie Bott’s. Any time one of Emma’s friends mentions that they are having a bad night, they closes the books and instead stroll with them around the castle, hunting for secret passages. Loyalty is the only attribute that usurps Emma’s ambition, and in times like these it may one day be their undoing.

Sawyer Finch-Fletchley is Emma’s older sibling. Despite their continued insistence that they doesn’t need saving, Emma bailed them out more than once.  There are no better people on the planet than Lily Potter and Cade Entwhistle, and Emma would do absolutely anything for their best friends.  Eva Greengrass is the one person that (despite their best efforts), Emma simply can’t understand (or like). 

Sawyer Finch-Fletchly is a seventeen year old Hufflepuff student. They are a halfblood currently in their 6th year. Sawyer feels they resembles Douglas Booth but someone else said Ben Hardy.

Be led by your talent

Justin Finch-Fletchley was never so fortunate as to finish his education at Hogwarts. After being ousted during his final year for his muggleborn status, Justin became incredibly disillusioned with the wizarding world. A place that had seemed so impeccable, so impossible, so magical had let him down. Even when the invitation came for him to finish his schooling, Justin turned a blind eye, deciding to reintegrate himself into muggle society. He settled down with a nice muggle girl, bought a house near the sea, and started a family. 

Until Sawyer turned eleven. Justin saw a lot of himself in his oldest, all smiles and excitement upon learning that magic was real and that it chose them. Sawyer couldn’t wait to go to Diagon Alley, yet the trip felt clouded. Not once did Sawyer’s father smile, and despite people recognizing him in the street, Justin kept his head low. It was the first time Sawyer felt shame simply for possessing magic. 

Despite mixed emotions, Sawyer boarded the Hogwarts Express without hesitation. Once at Hogwarts, excitement overshadowed doubt and Sawyer immediately jumped into every club they could. They wanted to live it all -- except Sawyer wasn’t a particularly talented wizard. Despite their best efforts, Sawyer always seemed to fall slightly short in every subject but potions. There, Sawyer found a mentor in Professor Deverall, and has since recently started experimenting with their own concoctions. Rumors are, starting this year, Sawyer will be selling particular brews out of the boathouse every Sunday evening.

Emma Finch-Fletchley is Sawyer’s younger sibling, and while Sawyer still occasionally pretends to be an only child, they supports each other unconditionally. Though Sawyer never saw it coming, Carson McLaggen has slowly become one of their better friends. Misery does love company.  Freya Deverall is the only professor that ever said they were proud of Sawyer’s efforts. He often studies with them after classes are over, and looks up to their achievements.  Despite their best efforts, Sawyer has developed a bit of a crush on Kaleb Finnigan.

Darian Flint is a forty year old Slytherin alumnus that currently teaches Arithmancy and is Head of Slytherin House. They are a pureblood and some students say he looks like Chadwick Boseman - or was it John Clarence Stewart?

So often I worry that I will lose my softness

Had Darian not seen the war firsthand, they would likely still be a member of the Flint family, proudly elitist, and sickeningly cruel. But what they saw was beyond human. No one, regardless of their upbringing, should be subjected to such horrors. They remember fighting during the Battle of Hogwarts and promptly churning up their stomach two hours after it was over. They didn’t sleep well for years, and even now has some terrors that leave them screaming. 

Understandably, after seeing Darian standing with wand raised against them, members of the Flint family weren’t so quick to open their doors. Darian was lucky enough to have turned seventeen before the chaos surrounding the war dimmed down, and so Darian took their disinheritance and set up a new life for themself traveling to study with divination masters, eventually hoping to work within the Department of Mysteries. 

But tragedy followed Darian like a shadow. Just as they were about to set out for Egypt, Darian received an owl informing them that their parents had died. Their home had been burned down in the middle of the night, and only ashes remained. Darian was quick to hunt down their sibling (who was lucky enough to have spent the night with a family friend), and had filed adoption papers within the fortnight. They vowed to raise Hayley right, with opportunity and a mind capable of rejecting prejudice. Darian canceled their plans to travel to Egypt, and instead applied for an office job within the Ministry, where he worked until McGonagall offered him a position at Hogwarts.

Now, with everything that is happening, Darian is remembering all those who care and an open mind were too late to save - from themselves or someone else’s wand. He keeps a brave face, but he sometimes looks at his students and wonders which one of them are beyond his help.

for there is so much in this world that fills me with rage

Hayley Flint is Darian’s younger sibling, and they would move the world to ensure a happy future for them.  Jarrett Flint is Darian’s cousin, but has become more like an adopted kid over the past few years.  Out of all the staff at Hogwarts, Darian gets along best with Camille Selwyn; even on the more hopeless days, Camille as his mentor is capable of making him believe in the good that has yet to come.

Hayley Flint is a fifteen year old Ravenclaw. They are a pureblood in their 5th year and has been rumored to look a little like Letitia Wright or Quintessa Swindel.

The sun will rise

Some say that the war left only ruin, and yet Hayley strongly believes that they lives in a time of pure creation. The war provided a level ground upon which to rebuild the wizarding community, and while progress has admittedly been slow, Hayley fully believes that now is the time to bring witches and wizards up to date. After all, what can’t be accomplished during such uncertain times? Radical ideas appear a bit more moderate, and moderate ideas appear to be the status quo. 

As someone who has been reading the Prophet since age 5, Hayley had always prided themself on being up-to-date, but since being sorted into Ravenclaw, they pride themself on being ahead of the game. Every year, Hayley carries muggle science journals with them to school, scouring for an explanation of anything potentially magical. Magic has been taken for granted for too long, Hayley thinks, and how has no one ever asked how? Magic must be genetic, right? So what makes it tick? Where does it come from? Do you really lose it as you age, or do you just lose your wits? 

As studious a student as Rowena would have wanted in her house, Hayley pays attention to detail and perhaps asks a few too many questions. But with an upbringing free of war and full of possibility, Hayley couldn’t imagine keeping quiet. She wants to know everything, and better yet, she wants everyone else to learn with her. With the wind blowing in a new direction, maybe Hayley is exactly what the wizarding world needs. Or maybe Hayley is the sort somebody might try to come for first.

Josephine Cattermole and Lucy Weasley are Hayley’s ride-or-die best friends. Hayley has found a role model in Bianca Avery.  Darian Flint is Hayler’s older sibling, but they’ve always seen Darian as more of a parent than a sibling.  Jarrett Flint is Hayley’s cousin, yet they embody every stereotype you’ve heard about siblings.

Kendra Finnigan is a sixteen year old Gryffindor. They are a halfblood in their sixth year and look a little like Ella Purnell or Hunter Schafer if you squint.

WE CAN ONLY FIGHT EFFECTIVELY FOR OTHERS

If Kendra Finnigan could make a wish and have anything about the way they grew up changed, they wouldn’t wish for anything at all. They grew up in a town they loved, in a family that loved them, with a sibling they adored bothering, and with their best friend a five minute walk away. Kendra’s childhood almost seems like a fairytale when they thinks back on all of the summer nights where the Thomases were over for dinner out on the hill behind their house. During the year, those are the things they miss most, but Kendra takes comfort in having Kaleb and Ivy still at her side.

Kendra is quieter than most people expect of a Gryffindor, but it just goes to show that those people don’t truly know them. They are the ones who miss out on Kendra’s wicked sense of humor and their thrill for small adventures. When Ivy and Kendra end up in detention, people are quick to assume that it is the spunky Ravenclaw who landed them there; but 9 times out of 10, the bad idea can be traced directly back to Kendra. 

Kendra often feels like they will be young forever, that those summer nights and terribly fun misadventures will stretch on for the rest of their lives. But there are only two years to go for their time in the castle, and Kendra is starting to feel how time is running out. The recent disappearances have begun to change nerves for the future into the fear of what might be taken. Kendra knows anything can be endured with Ivy and their family at their side,  but even that feels less like a guarantee.

IF WE ALREADY BELIEVE IN OURSELVES

Ivy Thomas and Kendra have known each other since they were born and have been best friends since before they would walk. Jacob Corner and Kendra only got to know each other a couple years before, but Kendra counts them as one of her best friends. Wednesday Jasper is Kendra’s ex but they are better friends now than they were before they dated. Kaleb Finnigan is Kendra’s big sibling, very annoying, and someone they love very much.

Josephine Cattermole is a sixteen year old Ravenclaw. She is a halfblood in her 5th year and has been mistaken for Phoebe Tonkin several times. 

THE HEART HAS ITS REASONS

Everyone deals with trauma in different ways, and Maisie Cattermole decided to deal with it in her own unique way. Maisie discovered a gift for photography when she was young, and so her job at the Daily Prophet allowed her be paid to travel the world and see it all. Her family all thought that she might continue on this way forever, until Maisie got it in her head that she wanted a kid. One arrangement with five different men later, Josephine Cattermole was born. The spitting image of her mother, Josephine still has no idea which of those men are her father but they all still stop in sometimes around the holidays.

She grew up traveling with her mother in work assignments, and so by the time Josephine started at Hogwarts she had been to more foreign cities than she could name and was fluent in several languages. She had always loved learning about the places they visited, and Josephine took the opportunity to immerse herself in whatever culture she found herself in. It was this curiosity that has made her such a good Ravenclaw, even if she doesn’t have same creative spirit as her mother or aunt.

However, just as Mary can’t help but long for something else, Josephine sometimes looks at Mary’s lovely home and the parents who come home every evening for dinner and dream of that life. At heart, she is a hopeless romantic and can’t help but wish to settle down. Not just with a spouse, but to settle down and put in roots. She’s seen the world. Now she’s ready to finally belong somewhere.

THAT REASON KNOWS NOT

Hayley Flint and Lucy Weasley are Josephine’s best and closest friends. She thinks of them like sisters. Mary Cattermole and and Josephine have always been different, but the cousins are still very close. Ellie Cattermole and Freya Deverall are Josephine’s aunts whom she adores. Hugo Weasley has been Josephine’s crush for years.

Mary Cattermole is a sixteen year old Hufflepuff. She is a halfblood in her 6th year and looks an awful lot like Willa Fitzgerald.

NONE OF US WANT TO BE

Mary’s sister and aunts are the far more wild half of the Cattermole family. While Ellie and Maisie coped with their experiences by chacing newer ones, Alfred Cattermole handled things by finding stability where he could. He married young and had he had his daughter soon after, named for his mother. The house Mary grew up in had two parents working ministry jobs, a dog, and everything short of the white picket fence. Mary loves her family - loves her parents who have worked so hard to give her a normal life, her doting grandparents, her eccentric extended family. 

It is no wonder that someone has honest and true as Mary Cattermole would be in Hufflepuff - the same house as both of her parents. But the quietest member of the Cattermole family can’t help but be jealous of the excitement that Josephine was surrounded by growing up. The grass is always greener on the other side even when you like the grass you are in. She has never admitted this to her parents, but she dreams of greater things. Perhaps to be a journalist and travel or to be an auror or a mediwizard. Anything must be more exciting than the life she has now.

Josephine, of course, finds Mary’s thoughts exasperating (the grass is always greener, remember), but supports her as she attempts to figure out what it is she wants to do. With her recent OWL scores, she could do just about anything she wants. She just wants too many things.

IN CALM WATERS ALL OUR LIVES

Finley Darling and Mary have been like sisters since the very beginning. She is Mary’s best friend. Josephine Cattermole and Mary are nothing alike at first glance, but the two cousins are very close. Ellie Cattermole and Freya Deverall are Mary’s aunts and they have always been very close. Weston Wheeler is someone that has always gotten on Mary’s nerves.

Ellie Cattermole is a thirty-one year old Ravenclaw alumni. She is a halfblood who teaches Muggle Art at Hogwarts and bears a remarkable resemblance to Meghan Ory.

YOU MUST HAVE CHAOS WITHIN YOU

Ellie doesn’t remember most of the things that were so defining for her older siblings. She was only six when her mother was brought before the ministry, only six when her father took them on the run. She has scattered memories of their year in America, but most are only glimpses of the inside of their apartment and the fingerpaints her mother had put in front of her to keep her busy. Alfred and Maisie were old enough to grasp the seriousness, but all Ellie cared about were the flowers she painted and Mary Cattermole hung on their fridge.

By the time she began at Hogwarts, her year on the run felt like a distant dream - stories that her siblings told her and ones that her mother and father couldn’t stand to hear. The biggest proof she had that it had happened is the love of art that she carried back home with her. The colors and paints that had been put in front of Ellie had just been to keep her busy, her parents never expected that it would become a lifelong passion - but it was that creative spirit that sorted her into Ravenclaw.

Her family is grateful for the memories that Ellie was spared from and that the life that Ellie built is largely unaffected by them. Truly, Ellie Cattermole has a charmed life. She gets to work with her best friend and married her Hogwarts sweetheart. She gets to spend everyday doing what she loves, and now she has two nieces at Hogwarts to share them with. Only Freya and Alycia are aware of the nightmares that still sometimes keep Ellie up at night - memories of the day they fled their home, of cold cars late at night, and fear in her heart.

TO GIVE BIRTH TO A DANCING STAR

Freya Deverall and Ellie were Hogwarts sweethearts. Now, Ellie calls Freya her wife. Alycia Carrow was Ellie’s best friend while they were at Hogwarts, and Ellie still counts her as such. Izzie Constantine is one of Ellie’s most talented students, who she has become a mentor to. Ezra Fontaine and Ellie have become unlikely friends since she started at Hogwarts, but somehow their differences work.

Edmund Greengrass is a thirty-one year old Ravenclaw alumni. He is a pureblood teaching Ancient Runes at Hogwarts and has been told he looks like Tom Hiddleston.

THE FOOL DOTH THINK HE IS WISE

Nothing is more important than family and Edmund Greengrass knows this to be true. It is a shame then that his family ties have never been simple. He was still at Hogwarts when Astoria cut almost all ties with their family, and he has spent ever since walking the line between between his family loyalties and his love for his sister. Stepping too far towards one means losing the other, but Edmund has gotten very skilled at his balance over the years.

Only thirty seconds short of a hat stall, Edmund could have just easily been in any of the houses. In the end, it was his desire to understand rather than know and his wish to be wise rather than smart that made him an eagle. The first time he stepped into the ancient runes class, he knew this was what he wanted to do. This field embraced the uncertainty of answers and valued the ability to ask the right questions. When Professor Babbling retired three years after he graduated, Edmund eagerly took the offered post.

It was hard enough to balance his life when his nieces and nephews came to Hogwarts, and it has only grown more difficult in recent years. He can see the way the wind is blowing, and knows that soon he is going to be asked to make the choice he has put off for so long. He knows what his morals are, but there is no choice that doesn’t ask him to sacrifice his loyalty. 

BUT THE WISE MAN KNOWS HIMSELF TO BE A FOOL

Eva and Anton Greengrass are Edmund’s niece and nephew. Their relationship is tense and they could hardly be called close, but he still does his best to look out for them. Scorpius, Andromeda, and Lyra Malfoy are also Edmund’s nieces and nephew. The relationship is complicated since he is torn between the Greengrass family and Astoria. Eleanor Sinclair is the pretty, young librarian and Edumund thinks highly of her. He would likely deny that he has been visiting the library far more since she arrived. Eli Kettleburn was in the same year as Edmund when they were at Hogwarts. Though they didn’t know each other then, they have become good friends over the last few years.

Evangeline Nott is a seventeen year old Slytherin. She is a pureblood in her 6th year who looks a lot like Bianca Santos.

DO NOT LET THE ROLES YOU PLAY IN LIFE

Evangeline Nott comes from a long line of old world power. The Notts’ place in the Sacred 28 has accrued them status and wealth over the last century, and it is something they have been unafraid to wield - at least until the Dark Lord’s death at the end of the Wizarding War. The losses they suffered and the price they paid was back breaking. It built into a crescendo as the Nott family split. One side’s anger only built against those who had destroyed their world. The other chose to leave that world’s beliefs completely.

Evangeline, therefore, grew up in a family only more determined to raise her in the ways that a pureblood woman should be. She was sorted into the correct house, spoke the correct languages, knew the right people, believed the right things. Cunning and capable, Evangeline is the family heir that the Notts have needed since the end of the war; and Evangeline, knowing her family’s loss, is more than willing to be what they need her to be - particularly since she knows it benefits her.

For some students, coming to Hogwarts is a freedom. It gives them the chance to make their own choices, but for her this is not the case. Each week brings letters from home that dictate and evaluate her choices. Now that she is in her 6th year, her duties and responsibilities to her family are only growing - and if some part of her is longing for the chance to dream of other things, then there is certainly not room for it. She’s made it this far and to turn back now is to lose the only family she has ever known; and that is not an option.

MAKE YOU FORGET WHO YOU ARE

Eva Greengrass and Evangeline have been close friends for years, though Evangeline could never admit that Eva sometimes frightens her. Isadora and Warren Nott are Evangeline’s cousins who she has to hate, but is also secretly somewhat jealous of. Dominique Weasley is is the one person Evangeline hates above all others.

Louis Weasley is a fifteen year old Ravenclaw student. He is a halfblood in his 5th year and looks a bit like Colin Ford. 

THE ONLY TRUE WISDOM

Out of all of his family, Louis is the one least comfortable with all of it - with being part of a well known family, with being part veela, with having his name in the Daily Prophet if he just wants to go to a quidditch match. Dominique has always been a vibrant person that draws people to her and Victoire has a light about her. Louis, however, can’t help but be dubious if people are interested in him for him or just for his name or the charm of his veela blood.

This is the reason that Louis has fewer friends outside of their family than any of his cousins. The longer he has been at Hogwarts, the more he has retreated into his shell and deeper into the library. This has meant that Louis is at the top of his class and is incredibly popular around exams, but it has also made him a bit of a recluse. Lucy and Dominique have both tried to pull him out of his shell, whether by trying to bring him out to school functions or teasing him about his thing for the Malfoy girl. But so far they haven’t had much luck.

This year, however, Louis is starting to become aware of how the world outside is changing. He saw their parents talking in hushed voices at the table late at night when they thought their children were asleep. He has noticed the longer hours his Uncle Potter has been working. It’s made him aware that maybe he doesn’t have as much time to be young as he thought and maybe, just maybe, he might try to being young while he can.

IS IN KNOWING YOU KNOW NOTHING

Ivy Thomas and Louis Weasley have been good friends since he arrived. Lucy Weasley is the cousin that Louis is closest two. They are close friends and have always stuck together. Andromeda Malfoy is as different from Louis as one can be, but he can’t help admire her in class and in the library. It’s a bit of a crush, he’ll confess. Victoire and Dominique Weasley are Louis’s older sisters. While he is closer to Dominique, he still looks up to Victoire.
