Green’s smile is gentle, but he is happy to see Red open up a little bit, accept his help. “I’m more than happy to hear that,” He says the words with a sort of sugary softness he rarely gives even when he’s in a good mood. But Red brings out both the best and worst of him, even when he wasn’t trying.

Green relaxes a little, leans into his seat a little more comfortable with himself now that Red is as well. Though he can see the moisture in Red’s eyes, Green smiles.

“In a good way, I hope.“ He’s joking gently, but there’s a very real smile on his face. Making Red overly emotional had not been his goal, but making sure his friend was happy… That was important to him.

Green tilts his head, before reaching out again, this time to pluck Red’s hat off of his head, ruffle his hair, and deposit the hat again on the top. “C’mon now Red. Don’t let the ice cream melt on you.” He’s teasing Red of course, but under the words is a very real concern. Red still didn’t look too good from the exposure to the heat outside, and he didn’t want his friend to have heatstroke.

“So, why don’t you eat up, and I can catch you up on what happened down here? There’s been some new discoveries I think you’d like.“

   “Mhm, in a good way.” Red assures the other quietly, as if he’s a little embarrassed about it. Snatching his hat away temporarily for the sake of ruffling him up does a good job of getting some more noise out of him, however. “Ah--- Hey---!” The light protests aren’t backed up with any physical resistance but he does shut his eyes to ‘brace himself’.

   Once Red’s hat is back on his head where it belongs, his cheeks puff out, only to be replaced by an amused smile shortly after. The more distractions to keep him from getting too sappy, the better. Plus, it’s true that the ice cream is starting to melt... he wouldn’t want to waste it! The underlying concern goes completely unnoticed.

   “Hah... Okay, okay. Even if it becomes like an ice cream soup I’ll finish it off, don’t worry.” He’s not exaggerating there. “Oh? What kinda stuff? I bet you have lots of stories.” Just like Red agreed, he’s back to eating the ice cream and it’s cooling down his body a considerable amount. While it tastes great, he’s not even looking at the spoon or tub anymore ( hopefully he won’t miss his mouth and get it all over his face )--- instead, Red’s eyes are lit up and suddenly locked in Green’s direction with no signs of averting elsewhere like before. Without realizing, he’s started to lean forward.
