Note from the Mun: I don’t really expect this to be a problem, but I want to say it regardless: I will not tolerate attacks to Merlin’s character. Animosity is fine as long as it’s within reasonable bounds, but when it becomes a consistent attack through dash commentary or in the askbox, I will hardblock you. To me, it is a form of character hate and I will not tolerate it.

It stood pristine, in the centre of the room; where light from high windows spilled over in its gold ribbons. Merlin hadn’t touched the paints in a long time, having not the itch nor inclination to do so. This wasn’t something new – the magus simply allowed his whims to take him where the interest laid. Recently, it had been yarncraft, but he was starting to see pattern – repetition, something Calling to be Seen…

So here he was.

A prep of the brushes, soaking them as he fetched his paints. A tsk, noting how some had cracked. Bad omens, he thought, as Merlin merely worked with what he had. No point in making new paint; it would only sit and crack and the cycle would continue.

Once everything was ready, he hesitated with the paint-ladened brush, a blot of colour dropping onto the white.

A blink. A flicker of his lashes, a smile curling into existence.
