the  darkness  crawls  on  the  grass   /   on  the  walls   ;   in  the  distance  it  blinds  you   (   &   yet  you   /   a  shining  light  in  these  darkest  of  days   /   illuminating   ).   yet  you  are  not  alone   /   for  she  who  interlocks  her  hands  with  your  paws  sits  besides  you.  voice  gentle   /   &   you  feel  a  warmth  like  the  sun  caught  in  your  chest   (   &   roses   /   blossoming   &   getting  tangled  in  your  rib  cage   ).   you  remember  a  time   /   of  when  her  eyes  told  tales  of  a  tragic  sadness.   yet  now   /   she  looks  at  you  with  love  in  her  eyes   (   &   she  holds  you  carefully   ).

now  she  looks  at  you  with  a  bright  smile  on  her  face   /   genuine.   it  makes  you  smile  a  toothy   &   innocent  smile   /   a  soft  laughter  that  sings  through  your  lips.  you  couldn’t  help   ,   but  feel  a  giddiness  inside  of  you   /   the  way  she  genuinely  loves  you  so   (   &   the  way  you  feel  the  same  warmth  in  your  soul   /   it  was  a  warm  feeling  you  would  never  be  tired  of   ).

a  plush  of  a  frog   /   you  cling  tightly  to  it.   perhaps  it  seems  silly   /   even  childish   (   for  someone  like  you   /   weighed  by  responsibility   /   for  someone  so  young   /   you  deserved  a  moment  to  feel  like  a  child   ).   his  name  is  fleegle   /   he’s  very  important.   so   ,   you’ve  been  taking  extra  care  of  him   /   for  gon.   he  lend  it  to  you  to  look  after   /   he  had  an  important  mission   (   &   he  couldn’t  just  leave  fleegle  alone  after  all   !   ).

hm   ?   /   opening  up   ?   you  wonder  about  that   /   perhaps   ,   all  you  ever  knew  was  to  be  one  with  the  mist.   to  put  the  mu  in  nothing   /   to  put  the  mu  in  infinity   (   you  were  both  nothing   &   everything  at  the  same  time   /   never  a  constant   ).  is  this  living   ?   /   you  wonder.   you  never  felt  like  you  were  alive   /   simply  drifting.   moving  forward   /   into  an  unknown   (   because  it  was  all  you  could  do   ).   keeping  everything  hidden  in  the  fog   /   keeping  to  yourself  as  not  to  trouble  others.   abandoning  all  emotion   /   forgetting  the  memories  that  were  suppose  to  be  important  to  you.

she’s  proud  of  you   /   the  words  bring  a  small  smile  to  your  visage.   misty  eyes   /   soften   &   childlike   (   they’re  filled  with  dreams   ).   you’re  not  sure  if  you  were  really  doing  anything  special   ,   but   /   mother  is  proud  of  you   (   &   that’s  more  important   /   than  doubting  yourself   ).

just  like  the  sun   /   he  makes  you  feel  warm.   as  though  your  body  is  living   &   though   /   you  deserve  to  be  happy.   hazy  eyes   /   lacking  emotions   (   when  was  the  last  time  you  could  feel  something   ?   this  beating  in  your  heart   ?   ).   in  one  motion   /   your  hand  comes  to  cover  part  of  your  face  now  flushed  with  a  light  pink  hue.   gon’s  words   /   perhaps  you  should  have  expected  them.   yet   /   you  suppose  you  couldn’t  help   ,   but  to  be  caught  off  guard  when  he  says  it   (   his  words  are  more  than  just  that   /   they’re  like  a  small  campfire  in  the  night   ).

they  catch  light   &   make  you  feel  warm.

you  know  he  can’t  see  the  smile  hidden  behind  your  face   ,   but   /   you  hope  he  knows  it  there.

❝    then  why  did  you  come  with  me   ?    ❞   cold   /   but  there’s  a  hint  of  concern  hidden  underneath  the  fog.   tanjirou’s  friends   /   they’re  important  for  you  to  protect.   even  if  that  meant  having  to  protect   /   zenitsu.   your  eyes   /   they  always  every  detail.   to  discern  reality   /   to  see  through  the  mist   (   &   to  see  the  truth   /   to  see  what’s  important   ).   what  you  see  in  the  other   /   is  potential.   you  know  that  his  single  form    /   has  been  honed  to  perfection.   you  know  of  the  strength  that  hides  underneath   /   all  that  cowardice.

yet  he  still  fears   /   it  makes  no  sense   (   &   you  suppose   /   perhaps  it  was  normal  for  a  child  to  fear   /   but  you  wouldn’t  know   ).

silence   /   there  was  still  no  time  life.   the  demon  could  be  anywhere  in  this  graveyard   /   even  if  zenitsu  could  protect  himself   (   you  know  that  he  would  only  run   ).   the  best  way  to  protect  him   /   would  to  keep  him  by  your  side  if  anything  happened.   without  any  further  delay   /   your  hands  interlock  with  zenitsu.   thus   /   tugging  him  along  on  your  path  to  finding  where  that  demon  could  be  hiding.
