TIME FRAME: Friday, 11 April, 2014
GENERAL NOTES: When in town for the Bram wedding party, Finn wanders around the airport until he gets the courage to go to the real reason he took a weekend out of his time to fly across the country- Rachel.
Finn felt small walking around the airport waiting for some sign on where he should go. Everyone else around him seemed on a mission, racing around like they were late to the most important meeting in their lives. But Finn was kind of at a loss. And the crowdedness of the city made his chest tight. He was happy to finally flag down a taxi, after having the first couple stolen by people with quicker feet than him. The ride to Rachel’s was quick, and familiar from the last time he’d visited over a year ago. But during the way there, all Finn could think about was how much he didn’t want it to go the same way as last time. At least Brody wouldn’t be around to ruin everything. His weekend bag slung over his shoulder, he made his way up the stairs to Rachel’s floor, two at a time, before finally taking a slow breath and knocking on her door. As the door opened, a smile grew on Finn’s face without any effort, and he greeted the woman with a breath, “Rachel.”

Rachel moved around the apartment in a hurry. Picking up little things here and there. Trying to rid the common areas of any sign of Brody. She knew that it was silly. Brody was her boyfriend now… but she just didn’t want to have things that rubbed that in Finn’s face when he got there. She was pulling the curtains closed to her bed room area when she heard the knock at the door. Crossing the apartment she pulled the door open with a faint smile. “Hey,” she breathed she stared at him for a moment before deciding to reach for him. She tentatively pulled him in to a hug. “Its good to see you..” she breathed holding on to him a little longer then she should have before she moved to step away from him. “Come in.. can I get you anything?”

Finn closed his eyes as Rachel stepped toward him, rubbing his hand along her back as she embraced him. “Good to see you too,” he mumbled. God, he’d missed having her in his arms. But it was over only a moment later. Far too soon. He glanced around the apartment, avoiding eye contact while he struggled not to give his thoughts away. At least Rachel had been right about Brody not being around. There was nothing to signify the guy had ever been here. Finn could almost imagine the guy didn’t exist at all. Almost. He walked further into the apartment, setting his bag down near the couch before standing to face Rachel again. “Yeah, do you have some coke or something? I didn’t want to buy anything in the airport because it was so expensive. Everything here is expensive around here, actually.” His gazed followed Rachel around the room, and he wanted to gather her up in his arms again and press his nose into her hair, but he crossed his arms together, rubbing his own forearms soothingly instead.

Rachel knitted her brow together in thought as she moved to the fridge. “I think we do..” she breathed pulling it open and scanning the shelves. A small smile slipped on to her lips when she found a can of coke. Taking it out she grabbed a glass, filling it with ice before she poured the soda in to the glass. It was odd to have Finn in her apartment. At one point she had imagined he would eventual live there with her. And now she had long forgotten that. “Yeah.. things are a little pricey here. But you kind of get used to it.. learn to pinch pennies.” she offered as she moved to him holding the glass out for him. “How was your flight?” she asked moving to sit down on the couch, shifting so he could join her if her wanted to.

Finn smiled his thanks as the glass was presented to him, taking a few long gulps before following Rachel to the couch. He tried his best to sit far away from her, but this was one of those couches that seemed to make anyone sitting on it slide into the middle. At least, that was his reasoning as his thigh rested flush against Rachel’s, his eyes trained on their contact as he responded. “It was good. Not too long. I was a little afraid if I fell asleep that I’d miss my stop, so I asked the flight attendant to be sure to wake me at New York,” he pursed his lips, his fingers playing with the condensation forming on his glass. “I missed you,” came out suddenly, but as soon as it was out, Finn couldn’t really stop himself from continuing. “In Lima, I feel like I’m just flapping my wings and can’t get off the ground… It never used to feel that way when I was with you.”

Rachel swallowed a bit harder when his thigh pressed in to hers, she for a moment really wished they had a larger couch. Focusing her attention back to him she smiled as he spoke. “I’m glad it wasn’t bad.. and you wouldn’t have missed your stop. They clear off the plane at every stop.” she breathed lightly. His next set of words kind of caught her off guard. She didn’t know what to say.. and didn’t have time to come up with anything before he spoke again. “Finn..” she breathed. Her chest felt heavy and she felt a lot of confusing emotions swirl in her mind. “You’ll figure things out.. You don’t need me to do that. You are completely capable of taking flight all on your own..” she breathed in a soft affectionate voice, her hand moving to rest on his tight. “But.. I have missed you…” she added her fingers drawing small soothing circles against his legs.

Finn set his glass carefully on the coffee table in front of them, wiping his wet hands on his pant leg before placing his hand over Rachel's against his thigh. His chest was tight at her words, and his eyes almost felt like they were watering. Puck's words were still in the back of his mind. Rachel needed romance. A huge display of his love to prove to her she still mattered to him. But he didn't have a song for her. And his throat felt like it was closing up too much to sing anyway. He had to force these words out, even if she kicked him out. At least he could say he tried. "I don't know how you feel about me anymore, and I know you're moving on with that stupid guy from your school, but I still love you. And we're supposed to be together. I know it. Because I don't feel the way I do with you with anyone else."
