Hale Yeah!

“Oh, duh. Yeah, Cass is in my dorm. I see him ‘round a lot. I heard somewhere he’s the resident adviser too. Poor boy. He’s going to have a lot on his hands.” Aubrey laughed, tilting his head back. The music changed and he shifted his rhythm to match it. “Herbology. I have a green thumb. I love working with the plants. I’ve been trying,” They shouted over the music, “to combine muggle plants with magical ones to see if I can create better remedies for potions and even for the hospitals. So far…it’s not working but I know I’ll get there.” They were proud of their work despite the hardships of actually succeeding. “Curse breaking? Sounds challenging. How’s that going for you?”

“Your’s sounds challenging too...“ he would have wanted to say that he doesn’t really get the logic of it but wasn’t the time and place for that. I mean why would non-magical herbs help boost the power of a potion. It wasn’t his place to say anyway. “I love it, this far, but we are only just starting out.“

Colee chuckled and nodded, “Yeah he really does. I’ve been meaning to try and find some old classmates around here, just haven’t the time with all the Aurology homework we get.” She huffed a bit and nodded, “Yeah it’s the same Erik. He’s really good in the class. Always knows the right band and song.”

“Yes he did seem Dark, but he is also incredibly intelligent. I respect him very much, I’m probably going to ask if he wouldn’t mind having study sessions.” She chuckled and shrugged her shoulders. “Oh, Kai I met! He is very nice!” She chuckled at his description of the man he’d seen. “I haven’t seen any greek gods around so I wouldn’t know who you’re talking about.”

“Yeah, that’s him!“ he chuckled. “So you and this Luca guy studying together... I might wanna be there, just for your protection.“ he put on a serious face but he knew that Colee will understand the joke and read that he’s actually interested in learning from these Durmstrang students. I mean, who wouldn’t be?

It was hard to sit still let alone concentrate on what to do. This was not his sort of magic. While both unpredictable, at least his wasn’t trying to creep up the both of their hands. Bryx sucked a deep breath in through his nose, closing his eyes a second. Perhaps if he didn’t see it then he could try to formulate something to keep them from being consumed by whatever the hell it was he’d put on their fingers. “What’s this made from? Do you know that?” His eyes finally opening. Not that it would really make a difference but perhaps there was something specific enough he could try digging in the depths for something to counter this damn thing.

“Wool, cotton, I don’t know...“ and then it hit him. Bryx was right! “Hot water. Mum always stretched woolen clothing by soaking it into warm water!“ He raised his wand over the foot long monster that already swallowed both of their arms and cast a warm water charm soaking the knitwear.

Finn stepped close slightly tilting his head up for the other boy was taller than him. Their noses almost touching he took a deep breath taking in the other boy’s scent. He smelt sweet and spiced at the same time, and definitely delicious. Funny how boys’ breaths he didn’t like always smelt horrible. Not this one.

“Don’t you dare threaten me…” his wand pressed against Apollo’s abs and crept up slowly across his chest stopping at the last button which suddenly vanished magically. “Only if you actually bite!” Smile slowly spreading on his face.

Apollo raised his hands and took on an innocent stance. “Not a threat at all,” He said softly, glancing down as soon as he felt the tip of a wand press against his chest. “I just think you should be careful who you proposition in the library at 4am. You never know what kind of situation you could get yourself into it. And you, honestly, seem like someone who bites off more than he can chew. Just a bit of helpful advice that’s all.”

“It was more an applause for your shamelessness, but an applause regardless.“ Finn did think that he went a bit too far with the sonorus charm, but at least nobody got hurt. “Just having a smoke after my lunch… And you? What makes you enjoy this dreadfully cold weather?”

“Isaac, isn’t it?“ he didn’t remember much from the party but the name stuck.

“Indeed it is.” He nodded, eyeing the other as if to pull some sort of memory. He’d remembered the party, their laughter and not all that much else. Which in his book meant it was a damn good party. “Just thought I’d get some air. It’s actually not that cold today. And clearly you don’t mind it either.” Isaac flashed a bigger smile at the other, trying to figure out what this one was up to. “It’s curious you’d dine alone, I hope it was at least decent for you.”

“What are you up to?” He feature with his head for the other boy to sit next to him if he wanted to.

Finn tilted his head to search the other boy’s face. “I’m sorry to hear.“ he genuinely was. “What are the symptoms?” He knew how it felt when one of his pets was ill in the past. He remembered that he used to cradle him on his bare chest to let it warm from his body heat. “I never had scorpions, so I’m not really versed in their health issues. But maybe you could look in the newly expanded library.“ He let Apollo out of his palm for he wanted to go to Kai, probably feeling a bit jealous of the attention Artemis got. “I could write to my Mum if you want. She specializes in bigger animals, but I’m sure in her years of practice she might have stumbled upon more than the both of us…“

It was hard to talk about his sick pet. Kai felt guilty that she wasn’t doing well but so far everything he had done to help her did nothing. She wasn’t getting worse but she also wasn’t getting any better. It was maddening. “She’s been lethargic for the past week. Not eating either which I know isn’t a big sign because they can go on without eating for awhile but it isn’t like her. I know her better than these two. She was my first baby. Nothing I’ve done has changed anything. I’m running out of ideas on how to help her..”

Kai took a deep breathe and glanced down at the ground. The sting of hot tears was there and he wouldn’t cry in front of a stranger. “If you could owl her I would appreciate it.”

Finn held the other boy’s dazzling eye contact as he said almost whispering: “Reparo!” The textbook jumped back into its cover and glued itself fix.

“I found a specialised book in reptile healthcare, it’s for someone I met the other day and for an I’ll little scorpion.” He stepped a little closer and took on a slightly more intimate tone. “I show you mine if you show me yours.” And smiles charmingly with a hint of innocence.

Apollo watched as the cover reattached to the book and he shot a thankful smile at the other man. He listened to the other’s words. It was nice that he was trying to help out a friend. Though the idea of a scorpion sent a shiver down his spine. Not his type of pet but to each their own. 

He stepped up to Apollo spoke in a low voice. Oh? He quirked an eyebrow and held his textbooks closer to his chest. “And what is it you would like to see?” Apollo leaned forward as well. So close he could feel the other’s breathe on his face. Was this blatant flirting? Or was it just a little boy playing at a man’s game. “And be careful how you answer that. Don’t start something you can’t finish.”

It was always a delight to see someone’s reaction to the library the first time they’d seen it. He was fairly certain he’d made the same one when he’d walked through it’s doors. “You’re more than welcome to come study with me.” Cass told him, taking a seat on the arm of the chair opposite Finn. This was very much a reminder of what could’ve been between them. Cass mindlessly played with the hem of his shirt sleeve, giving a shake of his head and he laughed. “I’m not even going to justify that question with an answer. You know damn well I’ll have gotten through at least a full bookcase by the time we’re ready to leave. Not counting what I’ll use for school and whatever else.” His eyes finding the other’s and he shook his head. “I mean there’s the kitchen and you’ve been through the courtyard which isn’t all too impressive at the moment.” Cass turned his head to the side, letting his hair hang down for a moment before pushing it back into place. “What are you thinking?”

He could see them, sitting there, studying... Cassio spread across the window bench, Finn resting his head in his lap, both of them caught up in a book which probably extracurricular. Bliss.

Finn feasted his eyes on the other boy’s hair-play, he loved it so much how beautiful, soft and light Cass’ hair was. It was one of his weak points when it came to this veela boy. “We can go to your room, or the sitting room, wherever you feel more comfortable. Or we can stay even here if you think we won’t be disturbed?”

Noah hummed song lyrics under his breath as he tossed his phone on his bed and then pulled on a slightly rumpled Pixies t-shirt before he headed downstairs. He’d been hanging out up in his room and going over his reading for the next day but was always happy to have an excuse to step away for a moment to hang out with a friend. Besides, he’d barely had a chance to talk to Finn since school had started and he was curious what the other man had been up to. He’d always been a blast in regular Hogwarts, and he was sure both of them had plenty of stories to relay. It could be like old times and Noah could use more days like old times.

It was chilly out, so Noah grabbed a hoodie from the coat hook and put on his trainers before he stepped out of the dorms. He lit a cigarette and took in a deep inhale, praising the nicotine in his head as he did so. He’d only been hanging around for a few minutes when he saw the man of the hour approaching. “Finn!” he spouted, a grin on his face, “C’mon in, bro,” he said, taking a last drag off of his smoke before flicking it away, “It’s cold as fuck out here.” He motioned him inside and started off into the dorms, “Harlowe’s out, we can chill in my room. Unless you want to take in the sweet digs while sober, first,” he teased, assuming Finn, like everyone else, had been trashed the night of the party.

He had a super busy day coming up so a little chilling with his mate was just what Finn needed this evening. While putting on his coat and scarf he stopped for a moment to appreciate the fact that somehow he was at school, but there was no curfew and no problem in him going to visit someone in another House’s dorm... It really does get better, he thought and closed the door behind himself shooting a quick look at Sparky fast asleep in his little flames.

He strolled across the Gryffindor front yard and in a couple of minutes he was walking up the side road to the Snake pit, next to which he saw his buddy out and smoking. “Alright, mate?” he came up to the other boy and went for a hug. “Sure, let’s get in!” he hurried the Noah along for he wasn’t keen on the cold either. 

“How you doing? What’s new? Didn’t have the chance to like properly catch up since the party...“ slightly remembering the road to his dorm room, Finn took the lead.

“Did I hurt you so hard? Sorry, mate!” He started to feel bad about it. With his recovered books in his left and his wand in his right he lit the lumps spell non verbally shining light onto the situation. “Wow…” it slipped out. Even after the collision and probably tired as hell, the boy in front of him was exeptionally beautiful. The perfect tall dark and handsome you hear in the novels and see in the movies. “I mean, wow, I fucked up your book. Here, let me mend it.” He held out his wand ready to repair the book. “Yeah, yeah, it looks like I’ve found something interesting…” he smiled ambiguously.

The dull ache in his forehead disappeared and Apollo shot the other a thankful smile. “Oh, this?” He shrugged and held the book out for the other. “It’s just an old textbook it was bound to happen sooner or later but go ahead.” He let out a shaky breathe, thankful that the student didn’t see the other book in his arms. He couldn’t even imagine how he’d explain that one. He couldn’t even use his major as an excuse for the contents of that book. “And what have you found that’s so interesting? I’m intrigued.”
