Happy Mother's Day Momma Kimberley and Great-Grandma Violet.
Before pride parades, Stonewall, the It Gets Better Project, and “Born This Way,” a circle of friends, lovers and artists unabashedly embodied and represented their own homosexuality. This group coalesced around Paul Thek, expressing their identity during a deeply conservative era, as seen in the important and enlightening exhibition Paul Thek and His Circle in the 1950s at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art.
We are beyond honored to announce that we will not only be a part of this year's Boston LGBT Film Festival but we will be screening with films that deal with our older LGBTQ community. What an absolute honor! Wish we could be there Boston! Sending all our ♥ your way!

Just a taste of our Opening Night screening for NFFTY 2013 at Seattle's Cinerama Theater.
**We ended up taking home the Jury Award for "Best Short."
Today while browsing through my favorite of book stores, Unabridged Bookstore, I was stopped in my tracks by one particular find. "...When Upton died suddenly one evening in their Vermont cottage, Sally began uncovering secrets. As she went through his papers, she discovered that her husband of forty-six years had desired the love of other men. Her riveting, charismatic husband was not quite the man he appeared to be, and a year of mourning became for Sally a time to unravel the dark and unexpected web he had left behind. Hers is a moving and powerful story of coming to terms with what cannot be changed. It is also a story of great love." Another real-life Franklin. Can't think of any better travel companion than this for our Seattle Premiere this week.

"Finding Franklin" is a beautifully shot, short-film made by Columbia College’s Alex Bohs. The film, which features a granddaughter’s love for her recently passed Grandpa leading her to discover a life-long relationship with a man, does a beautiful job of expressing human emotion and acceptance. Switching back and forth between flashbacks and current time, Bohs is able to effortlessly tell a life-long love story with expert detail to the cultural look and feel of whatever time he was in. Through a Kickstarter funding campaign, Bohs was able to bring his vision to life in a really professional way. Also featured as a Staff Pick on Vimeo, Finding Franklin shows that even Juniors from Columbia College can make an impactful film that can receive impactful exposure and reach online. Kudos to Mr. Bohs for being able to bring forth his own vision and doing such a great job doing so.
The Native Fix
An amazing and poignant film. "Finding Franklin" evokes people I love who have many layers, things hidden away or never really dealt with. I’ve encountered a few Eugenes and Franklins over the years, and this nostalgic, well-crafted short film utterly captivated me. It made me happy, sad, uplifted, and yes, cry a few tears. Confronting history and love isn’t always easy, but this film is a must-see. The soundtrack includes gems by Peggy Lee, The Shirelles, Guy Lombardo, and more modern sounds by Foreign Fields and Gabriel Dib. In short, a touching multi-generational film about life and love, that I have watched over and over again.
Vetti
This is totally weird, and I went back and forth for quite a while on whether I should even reach out.... but I having had a little while to reflect on your short Finding Franklin, I decided to go for it. The film is emotionally and visually stunning... but it also could not have come at a more fated time.... I just lost my grandfather earlier today and having come out less than a year ago, I found the film to be incredibly poignant to say the least. It is a bit surreal even. I guess I just wanted to congratulate you on the powerful work, and let you know that at least one person was beyond moved by your voice as a filmmaker (although I imagine has and will effect far more than you just one....) I look forward to see what comes next. Best, David
