Ages ago, I read a fic where Danny was the Ghost King and had been holding meetings with the Justice League for several months—not as a hero, but as the ruler of a race that had previously been unknown to them. The problem was that they treated ghosts as creatures that needed to be dealt with or eliminated.
Danny kept trying to reason with them, explaining that ghosts are emotional beings and that most of those who crossed into the human realm were just as confused and scared as the humans they encountered. However, the Justice League refused to listen.
At the same time, Danny already had far too much on his plate: dealing with ghost hunters (whom the Justice League wouldn’t stop), school, his parents, and his new duties as king. When Green Lantern started asking him for weapons that could permanently eliminate ghosts, Danny finally snapped and ended up threatening them.
The fic ended there, but I couldn’t help thinking that Danny should have ordered his subjects to treat humans with the same hostility and lack of understanding that humans showed toward ghosts.

SYNOPSIS: Danny Fention gets a job as Bruce Wayne's secretary. It leads to his bosses son being horrendously smitten.
‹ PREV LEVEL ⊹ QUEST LOG
Tim Drake is not easily wrangled into a nap. Never. Not when he's busy, at least. If not? Oh, sure, go ahead. Give him a pillow and he'll drool all over it. But at work? Tim wasn't going to let his narcolepsy win and he'd be damned if it did get the best of him.
But Bruce's new secretary is...
Danny Fenton was a man just as sleep deprived as Tim. Sometimes, Tim sees shit he knows aren't really because of the 32 hours he has stayed awake. One time, he saw Danny walk through the door. And he doesn't mean that Danny opened it and walked into the room. No, Danny walked through the door and into the office.
He was definitely hallucinating at that point. But apparently, Danny had siblings who'd force him to sleep or who were in need of their own time of sleep. So he knew just what to do to force Tim into a nap whenever they were in office.
(He's so sure that Alfred was in contact with Danny and the secretary was taking orders from the butler to put him to sleep.)
He knows that he has an older sister interning at Arkham. He knows that he has two siblings that had different surnames to him and his sister yet they were still siblings. Like them, he thinks. But... Most likely biologically related and we're adopted by different people. Yes. Definitely.
Tim really should stop stalking Bruce's secretary...
Jason was doing it too, but it's not like he can blame the guy.
Danny Fenton was the office's resident grumpy cat. Harmless even with his angry expression.
But ever since he beat the shit out the Joker and cut out his eye for threatening Bruce, everyone knew that he was more of a disgruntled panther rather than a grumpy black cat. Tim thinks it's cool. Jason thinks it's hot. Damian wants to learn how to use a cutter like that. Dick and Bruce were very much concerned.
But he's been observing the guy carefully.
Nevermind. He'll just watch the way his brother blundered every single time he was in Danny's presence.
Like that one time Jason bought a box of chocolates (obviously for Danny) and tripped the moment Danny turned to him. The chocolate went flying and Jason looked like he might just cry from the humiliation. Danny didn't even give a shit about the chocolate and just patted Jason's back, saying something along the lines of "It's okay, buddy. Your girlfriend won't be mad."
Sucks for Jason.
Then there was this one time they found Danny walking in the middle of the night. Red Hood, not Jason, had followed him the entire time and made sure he wasn't going to get mugged. Tim was just following his brother and snorting at how pathetic he was. No one was going to attack Danny after he fucking traumatized the Joker with an office cutter. A cutter!
Then there was another time that Jason apparently stumbled on Danny cursing a storm when Lex Luthor (once again) demanded for them to attend one of his galas. Tim was almost tempted to attend when he heard Conner was going. But then Danny fact checked that shit and confirmed that no. Conner will not be attending Luthor's gala.
Jason, like the idiot he was, seemed to be vaguely turned on by that. Like. Ew, Jason.
"This is humiliating." Damian practically spat, shaking his head as they witnessed Jason—Red Hood—try to speak to an obviously tired and irked Danny. Something about safety and stuff since he was walking towards Arkham.
"We must stop this at once. I will not let Todd humiliate this family and drive Daniel away!" Damian snarls, "His sister is a good sparring partner. She does well with a rapier."
Oh, and apparently the Demon Brat was friends with Danny's younger sister. Danielle Masters was terrifyingly smart at almost everything. She was athletic too, joined the fencing club almost immediately and now she was Damian's favorite person in Gotham.
"True. Also, cause Harley likes his sister and Ivy adores his friend... Sam?" Tim shrugs, "Oh look."
Damian zeroes in on the threat immediately. It was in the form of someone running straight at Danny with a knife. A clown mask on his face.
Aside from the well known fact that Danny is very anti-get-adopted-by-billionaire, people also knew he HATED clowns. Most likely why Tim witnessed Bruce try to talk Danny down the moment they found out that Danny had direct access to Arkham because of Jasmine Fenton and Dante Masters.
Oh, and would you look at that. Danny just grabbed Jason's gun from his thigh holsters and shot the poor guy's foot.
Of course, Jason is reduced to a bumbling fool as Danny shoved the gun back into the holster while keeping Jason still with a hand on his thigh.
Damian clicked his tongue, "A disgrace." With that, Damian plots his way to merge the Fenton/Masters into their family. He might actually succeed.
Tim just wants to get some sleep.
The next day, Danny once again walks through the door and Tim just stares at him.
"Mr. Drake, I have been sent by Alfred to dispose of any coffee you are in possession of." Danny bluntly tells him before stripping the office of any hint of coffee.
"Do try to get some sleep, Mr. Drake. You're lucky enough that you have many people helping with vigilantism." Danny mutters, sighing before patting Tim's head. "Twas a difficult time when I was one. Sleep tight."
Tim definitely needed sleep. First of all, Danny was implying he used to be a vigilante. Which kinda explained some stuff but Danny? The guy who cried when his coffee was spilled? And since when were Danny's eyes green?
When you're a villain but not evil, it just makes you a troublemaker.
Everything is all fine in Amity Park and it's all no thanks to the Justice League. Danny still felt a bit resentful about being one of the many to call for help to the JL, but was dismissed as a prankcaller. Even going as far as to blacklist him and some others who kept on trying to call for help.
In between talking to some of the ghosts in the realm and pondering about the JL, he just got a brilliant idea.
Why not be a villain? He didn't mean anything like killing or anything, but as long as you're on the other side of the law, anything goes, right? It could be as much as jaywalking or something, but no. This was something that was tame. HE WAS GOING TO BE PUBLIC MENACE NUMBER 1!
His plan was to disturb Batman, just as a petty move. For how long? Until he was bored.
Other than that, there was another goal. According to some of the ghosts he talked to, Joker was an attention seeker for Batman's affection, so what better way than to disturb Joker by disrupting Batman to pay attention to Dario the Plumber rather than the Joker?
Tucker was going to help with the technological aspects while Sam was looking for a target. None of them wants to do anything evil, but being public menaces? That's a dream come true for teenagers!
He flew over with his Sam and Tucker to support Gotham and was equipped with a small phone and an earphone to talk with them. On his chest, it was just a D—not DP anymore.
He held still as Sam drew a moustache with her eyeliner on his face.
"Done!" She said, capping her eyeliner before stepping back to look at her handiwork at his appearance. Dressed in a cap that had a D, a white shirt, with a black overall.
Danny uses Mario's typical skillset. Tucker has made it so that the soundtrack for the jump effect will be heard whenever he jumps. He also has the cap from the Super Mario Odessey, but it's actually a modified Booo-merang, so it will always come back to him no matter what.
Sam is the one who plans who to attack. She hates the businesses that destroy the environment, and thanks to her background, she knows what business they are planning to start up next and knows how damaging it will be to the environment with their sketchy phrasing, so she tells Danny who to disrupt and where.
Tucker and Sam dress as Toads to indicate that they are his personal minions. Sam is a purple Toad, while Tucker is just putting on the normal red one
So imagine seeing a dude kick a dog on the street, and then a fake Mario and some Toads come up to beat them like this.
Dario increases his destruction that now the Daddy Bat came out rather than his kids, and now is entirely concentrated on him. When news broke out that Joker had escaped prison, between Joker and Dario, who would Batman chose?
Sam, Tucker, and Danny were all waiting in anticipation, and when Batman ended up delegating Joker to the Robins, the three of them cheered because they got the goal that they wanted: for Joker not to have his wishes of having Daddy Bat's attention on him.
Tucker monitored Joker's reactions online, screenshotting the ones he thought had the best faces. Of course, that was going to be shown later once Sam and Danny came back because he had no muscle, so he's the chair dude now.
As Mario could go through pipes, Danny would shapeshift to fit into pipes and travel that way.
The audio of Mario losing a life would sound out if Danny took a hit, and Danny knew that he had to pretend to lose his life. So he flickered in and out with invisibility and disappeared through the floor, only reappearing through a nearby pipe once more, complete with sound effect. This made the Bats weary of where he could appear.
Then, the most annoying of them all was the hilarious thing that the three of them could think of. Dario spoke in a bad Italian accent. Then Sam followed up with the screeching sound of the Toad's voice.
It irritated many people so much that it almost made Dario break character, especially with Tucker laughing behind the mic. Sam accompanied him on the scene, so she also had to hold in the laughter.
Joker was pissed off and confronted Dario at one point, going to the point of threatening him. But Danny just told him that 'Dario seems to be more important and better at being a villain than the Joker was', which made the Joker lash out, but of course, Dario has many lives.
He just tied up the Joker and brought him to Arkham Asylum himself, encountering the Bats just as he was about to leave.
He looked at them, then at the wrench in his hand.
"I can fix it!"
One of the bats (or maybe some) immediately started shouting at him that's a different franchise.
It left Danny feeling satisfied at annoying them so hard.

In Gotham University where Jason is studying literature, while Danny is studying engineering. Nobody knew how they even met, but they both showed up one day going out with each other.
Nobody knew why exactly Jason, who is an absolutely beefcake, built like a fridge, was with a guy that totally looks like a loser. He was tinier than Jason - a complete twink-, he often gets up to run to the bathroom citing stomach problems, once you set him off about something, he'll never stop yapping about it.
So, one brave student went up to Jason and asked the question. Why him?
Jason just smirked and tilted his head at Danny.
"Open your mouth."
Danny does so obligingly in confusion. What he didn't know nor did he realise was that once he did, his features started to distort, looking more...not human.
His teeth were sharp and jagged, his mouth was like a gaping abyss, so dark that the only thing that you see was more and more teeth. His eyes took more of a green hue, skin turned paler, and his freckles shone like the stars.
Danny then rolled out his tongue, which came out long and serpentine, flicking it a bit before rolling it back into his mouth, becoming normal once more.
Jason gave a lovesick lustful look at him.
The student immediately understood and simply said 'Have a nice day', because they get why. Teratophilia is a thing, people.

So much so that slowly it's been ingrained into everyone's minds that he's never taken them off. Like, they can't even remember a time where he hasn't worn sunglasses.
It's just like, his thing.
Why does he wear them? Well, because Danny's previous blue eyes changed to a startling, glowing green that he knows the GIW would eat up and use as a reason to force him into their custody.
Solution?
Sunglasses.
His parents? Oh yea they went all in when he they found out why he was wearing them (Reveal gone right au babyy). They made them extremely durable; they can film audio, take pictures, take videos, see through walls and even track down ecto-signatures for whenever he's tracking down a ghost in human form, see through walls and self-cleaning.
(The ectoplasm tracking system is for when they aren't close enough to set off his ghost sense.)
He honestly believes his parents watched a spy movie before they built him these, but it's not like he's going to complain about it. The only time he isn't wearing them is when he goes ghost, you know as a way to not link him to Fenton or whatever.
So, Danny meets John Constantine while the both of them were on the hunt for a ghost who was causing problems in the area. Danny manages to find them first, the ghost in question being an animal who was terrorizing a place because it didn't understand the fact it was dead yet and wanted to protect it's children.
John Constantine comes while Danny is pacifying it. He watches as Danny calms it down enough to get to the babies and sends it to the Ghost Zone after promising it to get them somewhere safe.
John Constantine also saw his eyes, because he pulled his sunglasses off to show them to the ghost as a silent sign to trust him. John Constantine of course asked what he was going to do with the babies, and Danny just sent them over to Sam.
After that he decided to keep an eye on Danny because of his eyes. Which were the eyes of a ghost, and he was genuinely thinking Danny was possessed before that went out the window. So he thinks Danny is a ghost pretending to be human and wasn't able to hide his eyes so he wore sunglasses.
Danny neither confirm nor deny that.
So Danny just kinda followed him around until Constatine eventually made him into a contact whenever he was dealing with ghosts that he could peacefully deal with instead of just forcefully banishing them to the Infinite Realms.
This, eventually, comes to light when Constantine goes "I know a guy." In front of the whole Justice League, bonus points if they somehow come to the conclusion that Danny is Constantine's secret child, sidekick or both.
(hhhh I hope you don't mind me piggy backing off this a lil >.<)

“Sooooo, what’s with the sunglasses?” Hal asked. It was a fair question in his mind. The sun was already far below the horizon after all.
“Can you be any more insensitive, you blimey yob?” John snapped, tired of the other heroes being so nosy about the kid accompanying him. Oooo, Constantine has a sidekick. The John Constantine has someone helping him without having to be bribed or tricked. Is the little lad actually an illegitimate child? It was only a matter of time. Nosy parkers. They should mind their own business.
Danny could only snort at the exchange, unbothered much like John was indifferent to anything everyone else thought was ‘odd’ about the kid. “Extreme photophobia,” he answered easily, pulling a medical card from his pocket to show the others in a manner that betrayed he’d done this many times before.
“I wasn’t aware contacts needed to divulge their entire medical history to the League for temporary contracts. Any other prying questions unrelated to the matter at hand? ” John snapped, taking a drag on his cigarette and staring pointedly at Hal.
“N’nope. Sorry,” Hal stammered, raising his hands and backing off.
When the rest of the heroes Danny had been asked to assist had scuttled off out of range, Danny took a moment to look up at John. “You know I’m perfectly capable of avoiding questions on my own, yeah?” he prodded, amused at John’s uncharacteristic display of defending him unprompted.
“Don’t get cheeky with me, lad,” John returned. “I’m not opposed to sending you off.”
Danny just chuckled again, reaching up to pull his glasses down a moment while none of the others were looking their way. “Look me in the eyes one more time and tell me you’re the better pick for this, John,” he returned with a smirk.
John could only huff in annoyance, once again unimpressed. “Then get on your way, little devil,” he prodded, gesturing towards the others. Danny could only laugh while pushing the sunglasses back to their proper place.

This time is wasn't my sister that shared something that my brain gremlin latched onto long enough to do something for X'D Thanks @phantomrosereader They sent me this snippet and my brain goblin went "oo 8o excuse to draw fun eyes, yey~ 8DDD"
Ooh, this is giving me such good, interesting thoughts. 👀 There is always the chance that Danny is just totally exhausted and blurted that out without thinking, but if we took his words at face value then we get a whole plethora of possibilities.
Danny is property of the government, yet he's allowed to go about and go to school (whether it be high school or university, it's still school). Does that mean the government pays for his education?
Is this a scenario where the government registers Danny as an endangered species on the brink of extinction and has to take serious measures to prevent the loss of life? Does that mean anyone who Danny dates has to be thoroughly screened to ensure he's preserved and in no risk of danger?
Imagine Danny having to go up to his handler and say he's got a date, and just know when he goes on said date there's going to be a bunch of people eavesdropping on them from neighboring buildings.
This is the price for his identity being revealed. Not medical experimentation, but being effectively caged without bars and have his every step monitored because he's a medical marvel and too important to die tragically.
Thing is, this scenario still reeks of dehumanization. It's not vivisection levels of non-sentience, but the government still clearly does not regard Danny as a whole ass person. Critically endangered species or not, you can't just have this level of control over someone's life.
Danny has been utterly stripped of all autonomy and privacy. They let him go to school. They let him make friends. They let him pretend he's human with a human life where everything he does isn't being monitored and everyone and thing he interacts isn't being carefully controlled. They let him.
And this screams of Danny having accepted it. Resigned himself to it. Possibly, somewhere deep in the subconscious parts of his psyche, starting to believe it. It could be worse after all. He might even have first hand experience of how much worse it could be.
These scientists don't have him strapped to an autopsy table. These scientists don't have him locked in a cage. These scientists don't put muzzles and collars on him. They don't even restrict his access to his powers. They jump through hoops to try and make him safe and comfortable. They gave him an ecto-rich habitat with plenty of territory to haunt where he can even indulge his nature as a protector spirit. And all they want in return is to preserve and observe him. That's fine. This is fine. This is so much better than it could be. So it's fine.
Ohhhh now THIS is some quality angst, a whole nother level of accepting that you're property, not a real human, you cant make decisions for yourself you silly little experiment. He's terrified if he stops going along with their allowances that it'll just get taken away, or theyll find another way to get their data. He's scared they're going to try to make more halfas (kill more ppl and expose them to ectoplasm) so he's gotta be a good test subject. His parents were scientists, he can understand the need to keep an eye on an abnormality, an outlier like himself. At least they're paying for him to go to college, his parents and all their wackiness have excluded them from most collaborators so they don't make much, so hey he gets to move out, go to college, study something cool (astronomy of course), not many ppl get a full ride with stipends, he should be grateful. He can put up with the medical monitors in his room, the cameras, the tracking devices on him, the staff that come in and take measurements periodically. It's all willing right, theyre not forcing him, so really it's not that bad.
Tim though. Tim is pissed. Hes finally met a guy who actually likes him for him, they enjoy spending time together, and geez he's practically a genius. Tim is swooning. And then that curveball comes around. Said so casually, as a passing remark, and Danny looked like he had immediately regretted saying it, looking around the room nervously before focusing back on Tim. Tim, who's eyes were not laser focused on the boy in front of him, was mentally dong summersaults trying to piece together what he knew of Danny. Not much, typical kid who moved to college to get away from home, on scholarship, small town to big city change.... Yeah he would be doing some research tonight. As soon as he left home in fact. He told Danny to text him later because he's a bit concerned without nonchalantly this cute guy completely disregarded his own autonomy.... And he wants to know which part of the American government had decided that was ok to do to someone.
Yeah. Research night. He wasn't getting any sleep.
Extra bonus points if Tim up until that point didn't know Danny was a meta. Now is wondering, maybe alien? He knows some aliens (Starfire, Superman) he can probably find something right?
Except his searches for alien reports of pull up nothing.
He goes to the meta theory. Nothing.
Finally he goes deeper into Danny's backstory and finds info on Amity Park.
The town is seriously haunted by ghosts? What type of Midwestern bit of superstitious shit is this?
And then he reads the news. Finds pictures. Finds reports.
He starts to connect the dots
...
Maybe further, Tim eventually figures out Danny must be either a ghost or something related, he's not sure. He found out Danny was forcibly separated from his two friends in high school to be studied. When he finally.get all his info together he decides to go confront Danny about it, only to find him not answering texts and the apartment is empty. Completely cleared out. (Maybe the GIW thought Danny's remark at the cafe/study date/platonic friend? Got too close to a real relationship, too close to share too much) and pulled him out.
Oh well. that's what Danny gets for getting too comfortable.
It's not so much that the handlers minded the Halfa sharing the information. They don't even blame it. The Halfa is just a silly little creature doing silly little creature things. Pretending to be human and parroting back the things it's heard without any true understanding to be able to explain them. It's not its fault. Clearly it simply didn't have the capacity to know better.
No, what concerned the handlers was the way Mr. Drake-Wayne reacted. The young man clearly didn't understand that the Halfa is not a true person. He was concerned, distressed, even angered. And by the time the handlers got approval to fully brief him - they have to be careful with these things, see; everyone permitted knowledge of the Halfa's status must be thoroughly vetted- Mr. Drake-Wayne had already cemented himself in his misunderstanding of the situation and misplaced upset over it. Worried Mr. Drake-Wayne might encourage misbehavior such as resistance or escape attempts, or even try to steal it in a misguided attempt to "free" it, the handlers simply had to cut his contact and bar his access to the Halfa.
The Halfa was clearly saddened by the sudden move and loss of its preferred playmate. But ultimately it was very pliant and well behaved. So the handlers made sure to arrange a very special treat for the Halfa. While most of the team were busy setting up the Halfa's new living arrangements, two handlers set up a temporary satellite enclosure several miles outside of the city and took it out there for a whole weekend of camping and stargazing.
The change of pace was clearly very enriching for the creature. And the assigned handlers were able to observe so many new behaviors from it, the team might even be able to convince their superiors to expand their budget so they can set up a more permanent satellite enclosure. That way they can take the Halfa out there more times and perhaps even discover the root cause of its fascination with astral bodies.
God I still love the concept for this. Interesting to have the GIW as a control, antagonist group that dehumanizes ghosts but NOT entirely in the "vivisection torture morbid sadism" kinda way I usually see it (and how I currently write them) so I might revisit this hmmm
The difference between this GIW and the Fandom Classic where they vice-sect it… is that they realize the rarity of the Halfa…
…I also do not believe that Danny remains in this situation without some kind of Hypnotic Compulsion or some medicine that makes him more manipulable or suggestible, and by not "limiting" his freedom so much, it makes it more effective or difficult to free himself from it. .
Whooaa I mean the whole psychological manipulation thing goes hard, that's terrifying. It's also differently terrifying to imagine him, essentially in a kind of low-key sedated state? Cuz...yeah it makes sense why he would never have tried to get back to his friends, get back to his family if he's on good terms with them, but yeah his "check-ins" consisting of them reading over his bio signs, growth developments (it's so w e i r d ghosts are dead, they shouldn't grow), they def keep him as a live subject as a halfa, they make him go thru exercises where he uses his powers, transforms, they measure it mid-transition like how Vlad wanted to do that one time. And at the end of each check in, they give him a small dose, maybe oral or just needle, give him some praise (they've learned it responds well to positive reinforcement).
Danny feels a little more light headed than usual the day they give it to him, but it's okay, he knows it's important, it helps him sleep. The next day he's back to normal, his anxiety has almost completely disappeared since they started their study, and the rest of the time he's encouraged to engage in his usual activities. So he goes to school, studies, still goes out as a ghost at night, and the only thing he has to do is keep a little device around his neck (it's not a collar of course, it's loose enough he could comfortably remove it) and a wrist bracelet (again, not tight, it's okay), it tracks what he does, what elevates his energy levels (signatures go up same as hear rate, theyve found, how fascinating). Danny feels a bit weird about it, since he had the idea for so long to always keep his vigilantism a secret. It's also weird because he knows he's never really alone, never has time for himself. Every once in a while, he thinks about just wandering, looking up at the stars and just wanting to go visit. He tried it once, just to get a nasty shock that he wasn't expecting. He had cried, moreso because he didn't understand why it had happened, and he went home. They were waiting for him. Calmly explained that his flying was restricted to the area needed for his patrols, but he couldn't go too far away. They had given him another dose and he didn't cry about it again, just kept relatively close by.
Just an interesting set of mental dynamics there that are super sad:((( also makes me wonder if Tim and the bats got him out, however that is, or at least get to him, and they're trying to help, would he refuse. would he insist he's fine??
Now let's say they totally get him out, away from the cameras and they remove/negate the tracker and other devices on him. Let's say a few weeks passes as he's trying to adjust, but they can tell somethings off. He's sometimes unresponsive, he spooks easily, he seems uncertain how they're treating him. They're being kind of course, and gentle, but it's like he's waiting for them to snap at him. He feels like something is wrong. And then after a couple weeks, he starts getting unexplainably sick. Becomes lethargic, tired all day, and then gets cold symptoms and eventually a fever that lasts a few days. They realize the sedative the GIW had been giving him was also having withdrawal effects, having been on it so consistently for long. When it clears up after a nasty week where Danny really.onpy talked to Tim, and shied away from everyone else, he comes out one day, looking around like he's confused where he is. Tim and the others maybe are sitting at the breakfast table, Bruce is carefully watching his face, and he looks at all of them like "how long have I been here?" And Bruce slowly answers, knowing the number of days off the top of his head, and Danny is looking slightly panicked now. Tim stands up and goes to him like, you alright there?? And Danny, a hand on his chest where his anxiety is raging, looks scared. He looks so scared, it puts a pit in Bruce's gut, and danny responds "I think something's wrong with me, i-i don't know.... I don't know why I'm here-- it's like, it's like I can't remember--" and Bruce interjects like "you dont have any memory how you got here?'" and Danny shakes his head like "I remember, I just don't understand"
"So does this mean I'm like... adopted?" Danny asked as he looked over the documents on the table before him.
"Oh honey, as far as we're concerned you're our flesh and blood!" His mom was quick to reassure him, "Though legally speaking... yes."
Danny frowned as he read through and reread the papers, trying to reconcile the information found there with the story he'd been told. A story about a younger version of his parents, who'd had his sister and decided they were ready for another child but were struggling.
After multiple failed attempts, they sought out a fertility specialist and learned that their years of exposure to hazardous materials had compromised their ability to have children. The fact that Jazz was born first try and without complications was a miracle. A long series of medical records and doctors notes showed all the tests they went through trying to find another way to conceive, culminating in a positive test result for Maddie's ability to carry to term. With renewed hope, they began to research IVF treatments and donors. Unfortunately, they couldn't afford both an egg and sperm donor as they hadn't yet found someone willing to invest in their patents. Not willing to give up, Maddie took to browsing online forums for advice from people who had been in her position. It was there she learned that, similar to organ donors, people who have their embryos frozen can sign a consent form allowing their stored embryos to be donated in the event of their death. This was the lead they were waiting for.
Another couple who had also been struggling to conceive had six embryos prepared and were successful on the fourth attempt, leaving two behind when they passed away. Having signed the consent form, those two embryos had been kept in stasis waiting to be donated. With a confirmation that they were compatible, the Fentons wasted no time in setting up an appointment. The first didn't take but the second did. They took every precaution during the pregnancy, this leading their decision to start wearing hazmat suits even while outside the lab, and nine months later the Fentons were welcoming their second child to the family. At this point in telling the story, Danny had been handed two matching documents; the donor profiles the clinic had given his parents all those years ago. There were no pictures, and information like surname and address had been redacted out of privacy, but they held the health screenings and physical descriptions of a couple named Thomas and Martha.
"Nothing has to change Danny," His mother stated, "We love you so much and are so proud of you, biological child or not."
"That's right Dann-o!" His father jumped in, "The only difference is that now you know."
Danny looked at his parents, then to the documents, then back to his parents before asking, "So why are you telling me this now?"
"It was never something we meant to keep from you. And now that you're sixteen, we felt it was the right time," His dad said.
"And," His mom added, "We felt that, if you wanted to have a relationship with your biological family, you should have the chance to find them." She then placed a box on the table, an AncestryDNA kit. "We never had any means of contact to let them know you were born and services like this didn't exist back then. It's okay if you don't want to, but we felt you should have the option."
Danny studied the kit before nodding to himself with determination. "No matter what some DNA kit has to say, you're my parents. You've been there for me my entire life, I'm not going to replace you with some strangers who share blood with me. But.. I would like to know them."
Secure in his decision, he proceeded to complete the DNA collection and send out the test with help from his parents. In a little over a month he would receive his results. He was nervous to find out if he had grandparents or siblings but, a little selfishly, relieved that he wouldn't have to worry about meeting his biological parents. He knows he's old enough that a court would let him choose where he ended up but he doesn't want to think about what would have happened if his bio parents were alive and decided they wanted to fight for custody. That just made him feel guilty though. He should feel sorrow for the parents he never got to meet, and he does, but if they had lived, would they ever have gone back for him? Would they eventually have decided they wanted another child or would he never have been born, forever in stasis as the world went on without him?
He shoved those thoughts away, not wanting to dwell on them. He doesn't need to worry about 'what if's, they didn't happen after all. This is how his life played out and he wouldn't trade it, his family, and his friends for anything. Now he just has the opportunity to add some new people to that group. Until then, it's back to his normal routine while anxiously awaiting his results.
Later, in a cave in New Jersey far below the surface, an alert would flash on a high tech computer.
Black Canary: Yeah, I mean hes an adult, but he's closer in age to them, I figured he would be better at understanding them.
Flash: I mean he is childish, but maybe they'll finally listen to someone.
*opens the training room door*
Phantom, snarling: Is that seriously all you've got? Pathetic! Get back up and try again! Saving the day waits for no "hero"!
*Young Justice scattered across the room, all panting heavily, or cradling bruises as they're each paired up with a Phantom duplicate*
Superman, gobsmacked: Phantom what are you doing?!
Flash: Yeah man this looks a little harsh don't you think?
Phantom: They want to be treated like adults, Flash, so I'm treating them like adults. If they want to be treated like adults, then they can train like adults, work like adult, eat like adults, balance their hero work and their civilian work like adults. I said no slacking! Get back up!
Superman, wincing: Still...
Flash: Dude, what did they say to you to piss you off this much? *tries to joke* I need to know so I don't do the same. Seriously, you're scary.
Phantom: *scowls*
Kid Flash, panting: Pl-Please! Can we take a brake? I need some water.
Phantom: 10 minutes. *all his duplicates vanish and Phantom turns and floats out*
*water bottles appear out of nowhere, and all the sidekicks collapse, desperately chugging the water bottles*
Flash: No, seriously, what did you say to him? I've never seen him that upset before.
Artemis, clutching her ribs: K-Kid Flash s-said he didn't get why-why we couldn't be treated as adults and-and do our own work. R-Rob in Said-Said that Phantom was-ss lucky, cause he didn't have a mentor and took-took care of his territory on his own without help. Said-Said it couldn't be that hard since Phantom did it.
Adult Heros -Batman: *winces*
Superman: No wonder Phantom was so upset.
Green Arrow: Yeah, I'd be pissed too if my years of hard work was chalked up to "not that hard".
Flash: *turns and follows after Phantom*
Batman: Hmn.
Robin: *flinches*
Batman: It looks like Phantom still went easy on you. You should thank him for that.
Kid Flash: That was easy?!
Batman: You're still alive aren't you?
Superman: And by the looks of it, he was only brawling, I don't smell the scent of his Ecto-Blasts.
Black Canary: And he gave you water.
Flash: *makes his way to the observation deck*
Phantom: *staring up at the stars with a pained expression*
Flash: *stands next to him as a comfortable silence stretches between tham*
Phantom: The screwed up thing is, I could have had a mentor.
Flash: Yeah?
Phantom: Yeah. But, instead of guiding me, and helping me, and being a support system, he decided he'd rather be a fruitloop. So, he became one of my villains.
Flash: Wow, that sucks. Wait-
Phantom, snorts: Yeah, it does. We're the only two halfas in the world right now, and he decides to be a massive jerk. It sucks, it sucks alot, because back then, I'd have loved to have what these kids have, heck, I'd have loved to just have someone to give me advice without having some greater scheme or alternative motive.
Flash: But?
Phantom, taking a deep breath: But thats not how it worked out for me. It was me, my teenage friends, and my teenaged sister against an alternate dimension, and a corrupt falsified government agency. That's the bitter truth of it, and I won't change that if I maybe could, instead, I just have to make sure those dinguses don't get themselves killed before they're adults.
Flash, gently pats Phantom's shoulder: Awe, don't want them to join you in the realms.
AKA "Ghosts feed on emotions. The stronger, the better. Danny quickly realizes this also applies to pain. He becomes a nurse at Dr. Leslie Thompkins' clinic. Enter: the Wayne Family Dilemma." DPxDC prompt idea!
Okay, so, Danny hadn't really intended to work at Dr. Leslie Thompkins' free clinic as a nurse. He even applied for the job; he was helping somebody else who'd gotten mugged get to the free clinic and Dr. Thompkins stopped him, asked, "You're a nurse?" And he was hired. It turns out, nobody wanted to work for Dr. Thompkins because it was a crime-ridden hotspot: Crime Alley.
Danny doesn't even really realize what's happening until a patient with a GSW comes into clinic, yelling and bloody, and Danny's nitrile touch calms him enough that he doesn't even need morphine. A haphazard surgery later and Danny's fully satisfied - he doesn't even need to eat dinner because he feels like he's two minutes away from a food coma.
That's where the rumor starts. The free clinic has good drugs. Not fentanyl, oxycodone, dilaudid, or ketamine. Something better that has no side effects and totally erases every pain - as little as a sore throat to chronic pain that doctors have said there's no cure for. It becomes so well known that Dr. Thompkins' clinic is a huge target and a certain batfamily has to stake out the place to dissuade criminals.
Enter: Dick Grayson, former BPD officer with chronic leg pain after being shot in the leg. Jason "Totally Not A Crime Lord" Todd whose extensive burns affect the right side of his body. Barbara Gordon, Gotham librarian whose spinal injury causes phantom pain.
It becomes apparent that there's something amiss when Timothy Drake-Wayne comes to clinic. Wayne Enterprise CEO and multi-millionaire, who can absolutely afford at least five ambulance rides and a lengthy inpatient stay at a five-star private hospital. Dr. Thompkins catches Danny while he's trying to hide in the staff room, snatching him by the collar and dragging him out to meet him. ("Why do I have to talk to him?!?" "Danny, I can't afford to entertain some rich kid when there is actual work to be done. Just give him what he wants and take his money." "Dr. Thompkins?!")
Danny awkwardly gestures for Mr. Drake-Wayne to sit on one of the crinkly paper seats, pulling the worn-out curtain closed despite there being no other patients in clinic.
"So... What can I help you with, Mr. Drake-Wayne?" Danny asks.
"Just Tim, please," The older man says and smiles in that I'm-so-rich-I-can-afford-dental-insurance way. Sparkly straight, white teeth and all.
"Uh...huh.. Okay. What can I help you with, Tim?"
Tim leans forward, eyes sharp despite his suave persona. He says, "I lost my spleen a couple years ago - a ski retreat gone wrong. Anyways, I still have some residual pain. I heard this is the place to go. I'm sure you already know, but I have a lot of money. Having the backing of a Wayne, especially one who's also a Drake, would be a great... investment."
Danny gapes at him. Incredulously, he asks, "Sir, are you bribing me for drugs?"
Tim shrugs, a self-satisfied half-smile on his face. "I don't know. Is it working?"
((And... well... Danny could really use the money.))

DcxDp Idea/Dabble/Prompt(?) idk do what you want with this.
Warning: Mild Swearing, and Kon is probably OOC idk i wrote this at 2am and could not care less about keeping them in character
When Kon woke up in a stranger's bed, it wasn't for the fun reason. He didn't remember much from the day before, just that he'd been running on fumes. The past two weeks had been hell, between shutting down an illegal cloning facility that brought up far too many emotions, and Clark, because of said cloning facility, being extra cagey and avoidant. They weren't the closest before, but at least they could act like distant cousins as a family Potluck, but now Clark was avoiding him, and it was annoying! And then Lex decied he wasn't being enough of an asshole by just existing, and stirred up trouble at 1am, leading to Kon flying to the wrong appartment. Truthfully, Kon just hoped he didn't scare the person too much, he didn't have a secret identity to really worry about, not like the Bats or Arrows did, and he hoped his costume was enough not to give the stranger a heart attack, they didn't call the police at least so that was hopefully a good sign.
As Kon rose from the bed, he did a quick sweep of the room. He wasn't a Bat, but he spent enough time around them to pick up a few practices. The room was simple, modest size, with a king bed pushed against the wall. The bed had a star patterned comforter, but on the desk, next to a bookshelf, was a pile of collage level books, and a number of space themed modles decorated the shelves, along with a few NASA posters. Whoever lived here definately had a thing for space. Next to the bed was a bedside lamp, on it a pill organizer with four slots empty, and on the floor on the same side was a large dog bed covered in a constellation pattern, and the word "Sol" embroidered on it, and it was then that Kon noticed a number of dog toys scattered across the floor, and a dog vest sitting on the desk chair. So the dog either didn't see him as a threat, was so friendly it didn't mind intruders, or the owner stopped the dog before it could think to attack him.
With his environment clocked, Kon finally paid attention to the rest of the appartment, listening further down the hall. He could hear quiet, almost silent, footfalls scurrying around, given the smell of butter and flour, the kitchen, along with the sizzle of something wet as it met a hot skillet, and the low clicking of animal nails on hardwood as the dog lazily followed after something hard, a ball perhaps.
Kon thought about just leaving, the window he presumably came in from was right there after all, but somehow that felt rude. He broke into this person's house and probably scared the crap out of them, at least a little bit, so the least he could do was not be a total ass and apologize. Hopefully they won't try to hold this over him somehow.
Carefully, Kon exited the bedroom, cautiously making his way down the stretch, passing the bathroom and a few pictures on the wall of three kids from the age of about 12 up to 18 where they were holding their highschool diplomas. Kon's lips quirked a bit at that, eyeing each picture fondly, slightly jealous of such a strong friendship. After looking at the pictures, and dodging dog toys as he walked, Kon exited the hallway and came into the kitchen, which opened into the living room and entryway, seeing as it was a small apartment. The living room was furnished with a simple dark blue couch atop a fuzzy off white rug, a small coffee table, a television sitting atop an entertainment center with a beat up gaming console beside it, another bookshelf next to the window, and three other dog beds, one next to the TV, and two by either side of the couch, with more dog toys sprinkled in. And then, Kon turned, coming face to face with the dog in question.
It, he?, was on the lager side of medium-sized with a slightly fluffy coat, and upright ears, he was a goldish looking coloring with a tiny bit of white on his chest. Kon didn't know enough about dogs to even guess at what breed he was, if he was even a purebred at all, but even if he couldn't be hurt by the dog, he didn't want to provoke him. Abandoned at the dogs paws sat some kind of open faced rubber ball, with what looked like food in it. The dog seemed to scrutinize Kon for a moment, before going back to the ball thing, shoving his nose inside to lick at more food, and Kon let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. And then a chuckle sounded behind him, and he whipped around.
"Sorry, Sol's a bit judgemental of strangers." Kon easily recognized the man, he was one of the kids in the photos, with black hair and eyes so bright blue they almost looked like they belonged in a cartoon. But he also looked slightly different in person, his hair was longer, not long-long, but enough for a short ponytail and his skin was pale and kind of sparkling, not like a Twilight Vampire, but almost like he was dusted in a light sheen of morning frost. He was taller than one would expect, but he was very skinny, almost like he didn't eat enough, but not to a sickly amount. "You're quiet, did he scare you? I'm sorry about that, he really is harmless. Well, harmless as any animal is at least."
Kon, realizing he was staring, quickly cleared his throat. "No- sorry. I'm still trying to wake up. Last night was, rough."
The man laughed easily and turned back into the kitchen where he went back to cooking, keeping his hand firmly on the counter as he moved to the stove. "I'd say, how'd you manage to mix up appartments so bad?" As he spoke he carefully poured the last bit of pancake batter on the griddle and moved to the sink, where he washed the bowl.
Kon shrugged. "I have no clue, it's been a stressful two weeks between- family drama and work."
The man, he really should ask for his name, snorted. "Been there, done that, moved out of state." He said breezily. "Are you going to stay an eat or do you want to get going? I made extra just incase but I can have the leftovers tomorrow if you just want to go home. Its just pancakes and some fruit I needed to cut up."
Kon hesitated. He didn't want to inconvenience this guy any more than he already did, but he was hungry, both from emotional exhaustion and physical exhaustion. Also, this guy was just, really nice, in a way that reminded him of Ma and Pa, just warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental. Kon felt like he could tell this guy anything, which was a terrifying feeling to get from a stranger. "Breakfast sounds really good actually." He admitted.
"Have a seat and I'll bring it over." Kon did as told, shuffeling over to the island that seperated the kitchen from the entryway and sat down. "So, what can I call you? Because I've kinda just been referring to you as window guy in my head and its starting to get annoying. I'm Danny, incase you were having a similar problem."
Kon couldn't help it, he laughed shortly before sobering up. "Ah you don't recognize me, ouch!" He joked lightly, but he was confused. He was obviously one of the Supers, he was wearing the costume as everything.
Danny didn't look up from flipping the last pancake. "Are you famous or something?" He asked genuinely. "Because if you are I'm one of the last people who can recognize you on looks alone, since I'm blind."
Kon blinked in surprise. Blind, that was something unexpected, but then again, was it really? Kon thought back to the vest on the desk chair, and how it didn't look like any normal dog vest, and from where he sat, he could even see a cane standing near the door. There was also the way Danny moved, his carefully placed hands on the counters or fridge, every movement mindful even though it was his own home. It was subtle, but then again Kon really didn't know much about the blind community either so he didn't know what was normal. Not wanting the silence to linger and give the wrong impression, Kon kept talking. "No, I'm not famous I just get mistaken for one of the Wayne's sometimes, in Gotham, at first glance I kind of look like one of them so its a common mistake." He lied smoothly.
"Oooh, yeah I would never have made that mistake. I'm not completely blind, I can see a little bit and my left eye has more sight than the right, but I can't make out details like that unless I'm really close and trying really hard." Danny explained setting down the food, followed soon by the plates and cutlery. "Also, while I've been to Gotham a few times, my friend Sam is currently helping a- well known- er botanist, so I visit from time to time, but I've never even met a Wayne, nor can I recognize them. So, Mr. Not a Wayne, what is your name?"
Kon huffed a laugh, his friend was definitely in cahoots with Poison Ivy, so Danny probably has run into the Wayne's, or at least the Bats at one point and just hadn't realised. Helping himself to some pancakes, Kon answered his question. "My name is Conner, but everyone calls me Kon. It's nice to meet you."
Danny grinned at him, showing off slightly sharpened teeth. "Likewise Kon. Though next time, let's not meet with you climbing in through my window, yeah?"
Despite the bite of pancake in his mouth, Kon started laughing, already vowing to drag Danny to meet Tim, Cassie, and Bart, and maybe even Ma and Pa, because something tells him, they'd get on like a house on fire.
Notes:
-Due to Danny's accident, he lost a lot of his ability to see. His right eye is worse than his left, and he can still see a little bit, but hes very much legally blind. As Phantom/a Ghost he can see perfectly well, and he also has, what Tucker named "Ghost Sight" where Danny can focus on turning just his eyes into a ghost so he can see but Ghost Sight is extremely draining, dries out his eyes, and gives him major headaches so he uses it sparingly/not at all. When living with his parents Danny didn't dare ever think about getting a Guide Dog, it just wouldn't be safe. But when Danny went off and moved out on his own, he immediately looked into getting one and thus got Sol. Danny is perfectly capable of moving and functioning in his own home without Sol, or even his canes, but on the city streets its definitely harder.
-Sol is a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever mix[50% GSD, 25% GR, & 25% LR], he's kind of a no nonsense dog that you can just tell has a very dry sense of humor even though he can't speak.
The Quick Transmigrator's Happy (?) Ending | Part 3
Platonic yandere Batfam x quick transmigrator reader
Jason had always been abandoned.
At first it was by his dad, who went to work one day and just never came home. Then it was by his mom, in an arguably worse way–little by little as the drugs she took whittled away at her self, until in the end there was just the cold husk left in their tiny apartment's bathroom that Jason could barely feel mournful for.
He had taken to the street after that, stayed with a group of other street rats. They, too, left him one by one. From the freezing cold in winter, starvation, illness, beating from thugs, shooting from pigs calling themselves cops–
Jason had always survived, and consequently was forced to continue living without the ones who died and left him alone.
The group Jason stayed with wasn't fixed; the members came and went like the wind. But his twelfth year was the worst one it had ever been in the city, and people–including especially the ones in Jason's group–kept dropping dead. In the end there was only Jason, who was so so so sick of being abandoned.
But Jason was as stupid as he was lonely, so when a woman unexpectedly appeared before her, claiming to be his birth mother who had been obliged to give him up in the past due to her work, and who now that she could take him back immediately went to do so?
He went with her. He figured if he died, at least he wouldn't be doing it all alone.
And surprise surprise, Jason did die.
Not, mind you, before three years passed. Yeah, Jason was the most surprised about that too–he had always been the one to survive when others had died, but he genuinely didn't expect to live that long either.
Jason's mother Sheila Haywood was a scientist. She used to work for the government–decidedly for something shady–but was now operating by herself. Just her, plus Jason who deduced that she had taken him in to be an assistant that she could overwork for no pay.
Jason stayed on with her, despite everything, until he turned fifteen and there was a zombie apocalypse that Sheila casually revealed she had known from the start considering her research had been to find its cure.
Cut Jason some slack; he did help her with the research, but all he did was grunt work. Not even in his wildest dreams did he anticipate anything like a freaking zombie apocalypse moreover its cure!
Yeah, anyway. The zombie apocalypse happened and Jason got infected and killed for it, then had his zombie-virus-infected body experimented on by Sheila until she finally buried him.
Honestly, at that time, if Jason's whole life had ended like that, he wouldn't have minded much. At least he didn't die alone or get abandoned by someone again. He even got a grave out of it!
But of course, Jason then revived. Worse, it was as a zombie in basically every way–except at the tiny corner of his mind that remained cognizant.
Worst, he met you.
You baffled Jason so much at the beginning. Who saw a zombie in a zombie apocalyptic world and took it as a pet instead of killing it? At least running away from it?
Well, you specifically probably couldn't run away. That was another thing that baffled Jason: how weak you were. Someone as weak as you should have abandoned Jason died a long time ago, yet you managed to survive. Only by the skin of your teeth, granted, but you did manage to survive all by yourself.
(He never told you this, but it actually pleased Jason to know you were alone like him.)
(It pleased him even more that you chose to stay with him, then still a zombie, rather than join the other human survivors.)
A third thing that baffled Jason was what he later learnt was the System, in some unknown way attached to you, providing you with both highly valuable materials and information. In his unintended road trip with you, Jason slowly put things together: that you were not from this world, that you were here on a mission to save this world, and that you needed Jason to do it.
Other people might get angry upon learning they were approached only for help. Jason, however, remained as stupid as he was lonely, and his first instinct was to feel afraid.
Would you abandon Jason too once your mission was completed?
...
Of course you would.
Of course you did.
Jason still struggled anyway. Still screamed and fought and tried his best to get to you, to reach and pull you into his arms and never let go of you ever again, the two of you getting killed together by the zombies be damned. Jason could've been happy to have his torn corpse indistinguishable from yours to the point the two of you had to be buried together.
But you were such a selfish little bitch, you just had to abandon Jason, didn't you?
Well, no matter. Jason hadn't spent all his time just researching the cure to this damn virus–
(Sometimes he wondered if it had been his fault that you left him. He knew your mission required him to find the cure, couldn't he have pretended that he couldn't do it? But he was too scared you would be the one to face the consequences, that you would suffer because of Jason, so he didn't.)
–he had also been looking into the System.
With his eyes shining toxic green, as he was dragged into the helicopter away from your now torn apart body, Jason made his plan.
He would contact the System. He would get the System to bring him to wherever you were. He would find you there. And then?
He would lock you up and make sure you would never get to abandon Jason ever again.
In retrospect, you had no reasons to run.
After all, if it had indeed been Jason (yes it was, not even nine years in four other worlds could've made you forget him) it wasn't as if there was any grudge between the two of you, right? You could've just–stayed. Talked to him. Hell, maybe you could've even experienced strolling down a street full of living human beings with him and no zombies around for the first time!
However, your instinct said no–that you had to run away. You hadn't survived a full decade as a transmigrator without listening to your instinct.
So you ran and ran without stopping, absently noting with smug glee Jason's astonishment at you now being so quick and agile, until you lost him and locked yourself up in your house with a genuine sigh of relief.
For an entire week you stayed in your house the whole time, not even venturing into your garden. By the seventh day, though, you heard a kitten's high-pitched panicked meow in the garden, and was lured into finding it.
Sue you, you were a softie for cats.
The poor thing was thin, almost disconcertingly so, though it was still full of life–evidenced by its loud and constant meowing. You fed it milk and bits of tuna from your fridge, which reminded you that you badly needed to buy groceries for yourself if not the kitten.
You could get the groceries delivered, of course, even order stuff for the kitten online. But you figured you should get the kitten checked up...
...and, to be honest, you'd been stir-crazy being home for the whole week.
Thus, throwing caution to the wind, you brought the kitten with you to the pet clinic.
The pet clinic was part of a pet shop, along with a pet salon, a pet hotel, a pet cafe, and an animal shelter. A very big and busy place, but of decent quality and affordable rates.
(Just because you had your inheritance back now didn't mean you no longer had any sense of money.)
As it turned out, the kitten was disconcertingly thin enough–despite its thankfully hearty appetite–that the vet advised letting it stay at the clinic overnight. You agreed, of course, then turned to the shop area, figuring you might buy the necessities today so that tomorrow you'd only have to pick the kitten up.
You got kitten kibbles, two pet bowls, a litter box with its filler and scooper, firmly resisting the urge to get toys that you knew from the internet that the kitten most likely would ignore in favour of literal trash. You decided you'd get it a collar tomorrow, along with its pet carrier.
So far, all was fine and dandy. You paid for and gathered your purchase then turned to one side, where a doorway led to what appeared to be the shelter area. You were only turning that way to face the exit, but right then, a young teenage boy walked through the doorway and stopped dead at the sight of you.
The boy had black hair and warm brown skin, which made his vivid green eyes stand out. He was frowning, but his hands were obviously careful and gentle as they cradled an adult cat purring out a storm.
The boy, by the way, was someone you knew:
Damian, from your second world.
Alfred Hitchcock's violin suddenly started playing.

Danny, de-age to a seven-year-old: Hello. Would you care for a shoe shine?
Bruce: ....Yes, of course. How much?
Danny: Oh, whatever you can spare. *setting down a portable shining bench* Please put your feet here.
Bruce: Of course. Have you been doing this long?
Danny: a couple of weeks. I'm getting really good at it.
Bruce: You are. These look brand new. *hands him a $ 100 bill*
Danny: Wow! Thank you!
Bruce: Of course. Do you have a safe place to sleep?
Danny: Nope.
Bruce: .....would you like one?
Danny: Sure!
Bruce: Really?
Danny: Yeah, if you're offering!
Bruce: Its never been this easy before....somethings off. Aren't you the less bit wary of me?
Danny: Nah, I can sense people's intentions. You're not a creep trying to get a kid to a second location. You just want to give me a safe place off the streets.
Bruce: .....Are you a Meta?
Danny: I don't belive in organized religion.
Bruce: That's not....you know what, nevermind. Have you had something to eat?
Danny: I found a half finished donut in the trash earlier.
Bruce: Oh. No. Let's get you some dinner.
Danny: I'm buying! *waving money Bruce gave him* I had a good day of work!

Bruce Wayne wakes to a pair of blue eyes inches from his own. It takes him completely by surprise, especially when the eyes slowly bleed in green, and he's just about to give in to the reflex of punting whatever it is away when, at the last possible second, the eyes speak.
"Did you sleep with my parents?"
Bruce opens and closes his mouth, stunned by the accusation. A few seconds go by, during which his foggy mind attempts to fight off lack of sleep long enough to make sense of the growled question.
It obviously took too much time for whoever this is for they sigh impatiently.
The eyes move back, and now when they are no longer taking up his entire view, Bruce can see its a creature of some sort. It's humanoid enough that Bruce would even suspect it of being a teenage boy. It's also oddly familiar, as if he resembled someone Bruce knew a long time ago.
"Did you?" The boy repeats, his articulation sharp as steel.
The double raised eyebrows, the slight head tilt, and even the click of a tongue are all habits that scratch a part of Bruce's brain, and like a dam bursting apart, memories flood his head.
"Oh," he breathes, eyes roaming the creature's face, identifying each feature that he stole from his parents. "You're Jack and Maddie Fenton's. You have your mother's glare and your father's face shape."
The creature, for it can no longer be entirely human with that glow, neon eyes, and the fact that it is levitating as if gravity were an unsolicited opinion, narrowed its eyes. "That's right I am. My name is Danny Fenton"
"Danny," Bruce repeats, tasting the sound on his tongue. He can help, but soften his expression at the confirmation that his old lovers kept the name they used to casually talk about. "Its lovely. Where you named after-"
"The street dog that Dad chased until he crashed into window around the back patio of som rich guy. The same rich guy my Mom was trying to seduce by pretending she needed chemistry tutoring, in the very same patio" Danny huffs, repeating the story he likely heard a thousand times in his life.
Bruce chuckles "Jack always had grand entrances. What are you doing here, Danny?"
Danny frown, bitting his lip before pointing to his hair. Bruce watches it switch between dark black and pure snow white, as well as his flickering eyes that can't seem to decide if they should be blue or green "I need a transplant"
"Are you sick?" Bruce frets twisting the blanket in one hand. If this child was here, based on his age, then he likely came to ask Bruce for a kidney or liver. This is likely his son.
Wow
"Somewhat?" Danny runs a frustrated hand through his hair. Bruce admires how the action causes some strands to stay white. It winds up giving his son salt-and-pepper hair. "A couple of days ago I had an accident during a fight. My core took a nasty hit, and now both sides of being are mixing. I can't control my appearance anymore. My Yeti said I need a soul piece transplant, but it has to be someone comparable. Neither my mom, dad, nor sister is a match, so my mom suggested you might be. Since you are likely my biological father. I know its a lot to ask-"
"Should we go see your Yeti today and prep for the surgery? It is a surgery, isnt it?" Bruce sits up, discarding the fact he undstoood only a third of what the boy said, to focus on the important part. His son needed him. "How do we test to see if we're a match?"
Danny squints at him, before folding his arms over his chest "This doesn't mean I'll become your heir or break up my parents for you"
Bruce blinks "Of course. Why would it?"
"My parents are happily married!"
The man nods, reaching for the robe by his bed. He always slept shirtless, but depending on the season he wore pajamas pants or a pair of briefs. Thankfully, he choose the pants last night. "I am aware. They had fun with me, but they didn't love me. Not the way they loved eachother. Jack and Maddie are soulmates."
A loaded silence goes by before Danny's glow spikes up. Bruce fights the urge to look away, wondering if his son somehow got his DNA spliced with a star or even if his ex-lovers weren't as human as he had thought. Danny now looks like a human outline made of light as the boy looks down at his hand, and shakes it around.
He is obviously trying to shake off the brightness, but it doesn't seem to work, for the boy throws his arms into the air and folds his legs under him. Bruce's eyes start to water from the strain of keeping eye contact- or what he assumes is eye contact. He can't make out the boy's face.
"Gah! I hate this!" Danny whines, "I just want this to be over!"
"We'll get the test done as quickly as possible," Bruce promises, moving over to his closet. "Do I need to pack ann overnight bag for the hospital?"
Danny doesn't have a chance to answer because Alfred chooses to speak out. His butler stands in the doorway, holding a tray of Bruce's morning coffee and pastry.
"Master Bruce? Who are you talking to?" The aged man asks glancing around the room
"My possible son with the Fentons," Bruce replies, waving a hand at Danny, who is still just light. He gets the feeling his boy is studying Alfred closely.
"The Fentons?" Pity and worry clouds Alfred's voice as he slowly creeps closer. Carefully he lowers the tray on the coffee table on the right side of the room. Just as delicately, Alfred replies "Master Bruce. The Fentons broke up with you"
A laugh, half hysterical- half devastated, leaves Bruce throat before he can stop it. "Yeah they broke my heart! Taught me that I was unlovable no matter how hard I tried. HA HA HA HA!"
"Oh" Danny winces. "This is worst then the fruitloop."
Starfire: What seems to be probleming you friend Phantom?
Phantom, frowning: I think I keep shorting Cyborg out. I don't know why, the rest of the tower seems to be fine, and he was fine up until recently! But suddenly everytime I'm around he runs away saying his systems are on the fritz! What if its my fault? Or I'm hurting him on accident?
Starfire, genuinely concerned: That is the serious problem.
Robin: Oh no...
----
Beast Boy: Dude, you need to stop avoiding him, you're gonna make him think you hate him.
Cyborg, hanging out of his car engine: I know, but this is all new to me! I've never liked a guy before, at least not romantically, and we live together, I'm having a hard time coming to terms with it!
