Anyway, I’m really curious: purely theoretically, would I be able to bite off a piece of raw meat? I certainly don't plan on actually testing this, but I wonder if my human teeth would be of any help at all?

this is the definition of a bigot:

"obstinately" means to stand your ground despite reasoning or persuasion. this obviously isnt synonymous with biogtry but is key to it. for example, i obstinately hate brussel sprouts. they are evil and out to get me, but that doesnt make me a bigot /lh

now, what are some ideals/opinions that could be bigoted? hating gay people, people of colour, women, men, so on and so forth, even if someone has experienced trauma from someone or a group identifying under one of those umbrellas. pretty much any discourse space can become bigoted, pro vs anti ideals very quickly abandon the real discussion and devolve into bigoted arguments and harassment that is "justified" by pro/anti stance. someone who hates therians could also be bigoted, especially when theyve decided therianthropy is a symptom of mental illness (usually delusion) and therefore thinks its wrong and deserving of hate.

in the same vein, a hatred of all humans is bigotry. there are many folks in the alterhuman community who identify as misanthropes, which is a blanket hatred or distrust of all humans. many identify this way because of the impact of modern human society on the natural world. i argue that this balances next to eco fascism, as you cannot blame the actions of the rich and powerful, oppressors, dictators, and colonisers on all humans. in the same way that a spider is not evil just for "looking scary," a human is not evil for the actions of its species.

some folks argue that they are misanthropes due to past trauma with humans. i think it is unfair to genuinely project your traumatic experiences onto an entire species. it is completely valid to have a fear, mistrust, phobia and so on of a certain species; i know someone who got sepsis from a spider bite and is now terrified of spiders. thats completely reasonable. but when you live in a society with other creatures, your opinions and feelings do genuinely impact the way you interact with others. you may think your misanthropy is justified, but it is a bigoted stance to take that does indeed affect those around you.

im not saying you need to get over your trauma or trust issues or whatever feelings you have, im saying you need to think critically about your thoughts and feelings and address the way you act on your trauma. its not fair to project your trauma onto others, its bigoted to use your trauma as a sheild for hatred. consider the justification you make to yourself, and compare it to the bigoted arguments of others. compare it to racists, terfs, homophobes.

i dont think misanthropes are evil, part of growing is being able to think critically about your biases. and i think part of a healthy community is holding eachother accountable when we feel injustice is taking place.
