Sirius: *shares information about a subject that he’s really knowledgeable about*

Stupid Person: Black probably cheated.

James: You should ask Sirius about that, he could probably help you

Stupid Person: *laughs* You’ve got to be kidding right? Black is as dumb as they come.

Just saying, it’s not fun for people to continuously undermine you/ belittle you while you’re trying to do your job or help. It hurts and is frustrating.

Also for your consideration, the Black family are all broadly described as having similar physical features—I’m fairly certain it’s canon that (like the Weasleys) the members of the family are all very easily identifiable as being related. That’s something JKR does a lot in the books—uses looks very prominently to code family, more so than is often true in reality (think white-blonde and pointy Draco and Lucius; the Weasleys are all red-haired, including both Molly and Arthur even though they aren’t related by blood; Harry looks like the spit of his father except for his mother’s Green Green eyes. IRL how likely would that be? It’s a very deliberately used technique to reenforce familial connections). So Sirius looks like his family—a family he ran away from, that abused him, that stood for everything he hated and fought against, a family that killed him. 

I think it’s very questionable to suggest that Sirius would rather be remembered for features that very obviously tie him to people he hated—that were handed down to him in an inheritance he never asked for and ultimately chose to reject entirely—than the things he chose, than the ways he put his mind to work alongside or more often directly in aid of those he loved, the family he found rather than the one he left that wanted those people dead.

Pansy washed her hands in cold water. She felt guilty, on bad days, for hot sips of tea. She was supposed to be cold. That was the point of her, a sharp edge, a chill down your spine. She was unkind. She couldn’t run away from that, the cruel barbs she’d spat out all her life. She was turning them other places now, useful ones, instead of easy targets, but this was still her life.
