doodles conceptualizing a wip idea i have tadc x the nutcracker
Gooseworx is stronger than me because if my introspective transgender theme narrative about identity and accepting your circumstances was infiltrated by media iliterate 12 year olds who treated my work like it was fnaf and said my self insert of me at my worst was literally the worst person who deserved nothing but the worst and could not recover ever i would actually fucking explode. I would kill people. How does she do it.
people who are responding to this post with "welllll jax is a bad person so!" im so sorry to tell you this but you have missed the entire narrative. Im not arguing that jax is a good person at all, she is a bad person shes a piece of shit as goose herself says. But when you people boil her down to being just "an abuser" or "a bad person" you are missing the entire narrative conclusion and essence into what makes jax (NOT LEE!) so tragic. Jax is a snapshot of a homeless mentally ill trans womans life at her lowest. The point in her life which she has been hurt and stretched to her limits and her one attempt at being honest and reaching out was met with complexity and pain.
It is taking that point and putting her into a reality in which she cannot possibly grow from her own actions, trapped without consequence or growth from her real life and contained within a fantasy. The narrative itself is displaying how with great repression, the fantasy of a digital world without the consequence of action leads to continuous and aggressive rot of the heart and soul. Jax is the part of lee that she left behind when she finally hit a wall and had to face the rest of her life and the reality her fears obscured.
Jax is a being full of fear without relief, never able to reconcile with what she did or grow further because her actions will never have a conclusion to her. Perpetually running away. She cant even decide to find out what happened to her mother, she literally is trapped in the fear and anxiety about potentially murdering her mom after a moment of honesty lead to pain. The idea that she would just be. Fine? After that is ridiculous to me. The tragedy of jax is that she couldnt possibly have continued on, the facet of herself that became jax is one that lee had to grow from when she lived her life and found no escape. Jax has constant escape and no potential to continue her life.
Its hard to accept that we can become bad people due to things happening to us and not being born with villainous intent, or even that our intentions can become bad through our struggles. I know its hard to see that because it feels safer and nicer to assume that the danger is the other and they are to be avoided and we will never replicate their actions because we are good people. But one day you or someone else you love and care about will make a mistake or fall into bad habits and we should be cognizant about how we arent infallible people. Our defense tactics can be harmful. The word abuser i feel has become a replacement for just calling someone a "narcissist" or a "psycho" or a "sch*zo". We find words that have easy meanings to define what a dangerous person is and to avoid them to preserve our safety. Someone can abuse someone else in many ways, and often the abused will *become* the abuser. The idea that this makes them some fuzzy idealised monster is how we project inhumanity into opposition and placate our feelings of distaste or fear. Anger is a reaction to an emotion you do not want to feel. Many fear the idea of becoming the danger or being hurt or feeling powerless, and sometimes we will choose to hurt others to feel like we have some control. Your anger and fear at jax is the same feelings that make her lash out at others. Im honestly sure she would rather be labeled an "abuser", it disconnects her from the humanity that she tries to avoid by hurting others. The thing that you want to ignore about her is exactly what she does too, she wants to be the villain or the comedic punchline because its an archetype that doesnt have direct consequence as long as she doesnt care. But she is a person. That is what scares her the most.
I think reading jax as purely an abuser genuinely does let her off more easily on her actions than the actual truth. You simplify her pain to make your feelings more tangible without analysing the person who chose to abuse others. And itd be one thing if she was a real person, but this is a fictional digital avatar based on a fictional character. The circumstances of this world are telling just as much of a story as the objective actions and plot themselves.
"The word abuser i feel has become a replacement for just calling someone a "narcissist" or a "psycho" or a "sch*zo"." YES. PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY PEOPLE ONLINE, CANNOT HANDLE THE FACT THAT HUMANS WHO DO BAD THINGS ARE STILL HUMANS AND WILL MISUSE ACTUAL TERMS WITH COMPLEX MEANINGS TO BROADLY CATEGORIZE SOMEONE THEY DON'T LIKE AS UNCHANGEABLY BAD.
One of the things that scares me the most about the reaction to the finale is that if these people, especially young people, think this way about fictional characters... what will happen when they interact with real people? What will they do if they know a real trans woman who acted cruely out of self-loathing but has finally started making progress and feels safe enough to come out? What if they discover somebody who has hurt them is planning suicide? And maybe even worse, what if they themselves do actions similar to Jax's and aren't able to understand themselves complexly and just think they're an irredeemably bad person and begin to self-harm, just like Jax did? This fandom reaction really proves that a lot of fans forget fiction is based on reality, and sometimes reality is really messed up. Refusing to understand fiction can and will lead to refusing to understand the real world, and lashing out at any piece of fiction that tries to prepare you for reality only makes it worse.
this is exactly what worries me about this. Im not just saying this because "fandom bad >:(", im not generally an argumentative person and take no real pleasure in fandom drama-bullshit. What worries me is that im scared people will take a bad lesson from their own interpretations to be generally less sympathetic to those who are harmed by others. It feels like you must be a perfect victim to be worth understanding, that is how we ostracize victims from recovering and put the blame on them for not dealing with it in the "correct" way when theyre suffering. Especially minorities. It is akin to a model minority mindset where when you dont fit the mould for someone that you personally view as worthwhile, you become ineligible to human recognition. it is dangerous not to understand abusers the same as victims. Because often abusers ARE victims. That does not absolve them of their actions, but to rip away their victimization just to demonize them for their reaction is honestly terrifying and hurtful to mentally ill people.
We pretend to advocate for the mentally ill, yet when they are unpalatable or bad people we lose all empathy and regard them the same as our "enemies." The same fear that made america portray "transvestites" and "queers" as evil demons that need to have a hole in their head to fix consumes us when we are confronted with something else we find morally objectionable in the people who face the brunt of the oppression we fight to stop. Theres a reason a big chunk of transfems come from 4chan, the people who suffer and are abused will attempt to take control back through any means they can find just to survive.
You do not have to forgive a bad person. Especially if they hurt you or someone you care about. While it is very hard to seperate yourself from those feelings, and you should never ignore them, to demonize victims of abuse is to ensure they will never recover. Regardless of if you think they deserve it, a human life is terrifyingly complex and we are all capable of being abusers the same as we are of being abused. The very least we can do is understand the actual circumstances that have happened and judge based on that, without painting the entire thing as objectively evil due to our actions at our worst.
Yes jax is transfem. She is a transgender homeless woman with mental illnesses that has a horrible life. She reacted how she did because of those factors, not independent of them. That does not magically make her not a bad person, but to act as though she does not deserve to be understood or given the labels she has is to attribute the status as anything more than a "psycho" or abuser or whatever cool new word we use to define the people who are mentally struggling poorly is to establish a model minority mindset onto queerness and mental struggles where if you are struggling more than others you do not deserve respect for those identities. It is condemning the victims of abuse and pain and suffering to nothing more all because they were not born or treated well enough to have the capabilities to deal with it. That is why this story exists. So we can learn from it. Do not interpret this story as a tale of a villain in the same way disney villains portrayed queerness as inherently evil. This is a complex, human story. Think about it.
i should go evil autism mode and make a nutcracker showtime tadc au thatd be so fucked up also caine is a great nutcracker parallel because hes a big mouth and dresses similarly and the fucking rat/mouse king could be the gloink queen wait fuck FUUCK

Late night run to Spudsy’s
I’ve already posted this to twitter and thought I’d post here aswell. I thought this would be a cute way for all of them to interact. It would make sense for them to revisit old adventure locations. In this instance the girls went out to grab a midnight snack.
