ok so long story short the cis are at it again
the telegraph posted this incredibly transmisogynistic article todayĀ (the title literally says āboys who think theyāre girlsā and Hoo Boy)
its against the national union of journalists code of ethics, we can get it taken down by mass reporting it to the international press standards organization
if you have the energy please report it! if you can please signal boost this so we can get that TERFy shit out of there
https://donotlink.it/o0jgĀ Hereās a donotlink link for the article so you can see it without giving the site any benefit!
a walkthrough of the reporting process in case anyone needs it:Ā
why are you complaining?: material published in print and/or online
name of publication(s): selectĀ āonlineā, type inĀ ātelegraphā and selectĀ ātelegraph.co.ukā
have you previously contacted this publication?:Ā ānoā (unless you have)
title of article: Boys who think they are girls allowed to join Guides for first time
URL: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/01/22/boys-think-girls-allowed-join-guides-first-time/
date of publication: 22/1/2017
clauses breached: 12 - discrimination
reasons for breaching this clause:Ā this is what i wrote. feel free to copy paste it, edit it, cut it shorter, use it for inspiration, whatever
The article uses inaccurate, transphobic and discriminatory language to refer to transgender girls and young women, describing trans girls as ā[b]oys who think they are girlsā and trans women as ā[a]dult men who [ā¦] identify their gender as femaleā.Ā
This invalidates the right of trans women and girls to be referred to as the correct gender in accurate and respectful terms, and perpetuates inaccurate information about what it means to be transgender: transgender girls and women are female, not male, and referring to them as boys or men is therefore misgendering.Ā
The article also brings up āyoung girls sharing sleeping and washing facilitiesā in conjunction with a criticism of policies stating that ā[p]arents of children already in a girlguiding group are not required to know if a trans person will be attending a residential eventā. Bringing up shared facilities as an issue at this point is further unnecessary transmisogyny, since it suggests that it is inappropriate for trans girls and cis girls to share sleeping facilities, framing trans girls as predatory or as a risk to other girls. This is transphobic scaremongering which plays to discriminatory stereotypes of trans women and girls.Ā
in theĀ personal details section, it requires a first name, last name, and email, but it does not require an address
This is super helpful!
complaint submitted, also under the clause forĀ āchildrenā.

This is why representation matters
Well this may be a first ā a YA book that actually uses the word bisexual not just in the book but in the FIRST SENTENCE OF THE BLURB:
When fifteen-year-old Keira starts high school, she almost wishes she could write āHi, my name is Keira, and Iām bisexual!ā on her nametag. Needless to say, sheās actually terrified to announce let alone fully explore her sexuality. Quirky but shy, loyal yet a bit zany, Keira navigates her growing interest in kissing both girls and boys while not alienating her BFF, boy-crazy Sita. As the two acclimate to their new high school, they manage to find lunch tablemates and make lists of the schoolās cutest boys. But Keira is caught āin betweenā unable to fully participate, yet too scared to come clean.
Sheās also feeling the pressure of family: parents who married too young and have differing parenting styles; a younger sister in a wheelchair from whom adults expect either too little or too much; and her popular older brother who takes pleasure in taunting Keira. She finds solace in preparing for the regional finals of figure skating, a hobby she knows is geeky and āhet girlā yet instills her with confidence. But when she meets a girl named Jayne who seems perfect for her, she isnāt so confident she can pull off her charade any longer.
Rough Patch is an honest, heart-wrenching novel about finding your place in the world, and about how to pick yourself up after taking a spill.
Between this and Ramona Blue, looks like May will be a good month for bi YA books :D

I made this print as a bit of an extra to take to Thought Bubble last week, and it proved to be pretty popular! <3
So Iāve just popped to the printers to grab a few more copies for those that wanted to get their hands on it. Iāve also updated my shop with a couple of other prints; one of BB the Pekingese, and the last ever Sophie print. <3 My comic, Lightfeets, is also available on my Etsy now! :DĀ
Go take a look: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/athevsĀ
ā„ Ā COMING THIS DECEMBER!Ā ā„
So earlier this year, you may remember me posting an animated trailer for a fake web-series.Ā I said that I wasnāt going to make an episode, but in reality, I was already working on it.Ā
Later, I posted a call for voice auditionsĀ and chose the wonderful Marissa Mastrocola to play Connie and Madison Martin to play Carla. Iāve been working with them to create the first episode of Rock and Riot, which will be entirely be a remake of the first chapter of my comic.Ā
I look forward to sharing it with all of you! Ā Be sure to subscribe to my channel to catch it when itās up! ā„
