The article uses inaccurate, transphobic and discriminatory language to refer to transgender girls and young women, describing trans girls as ’[b]oys who think they are girls’ and trans women as ’[a]dult men who […] identify their gender as female’. 

This invalidates the right of trans women and girls to be referred to as the correct gender in accurate and respectful terms, and perpetuates inaccurate information about what it means to be transgender: transgender girls and women are female, not male, and referring to them as boys or men is therefore misgendering. 

The article also brings up ‘young girls sharing sleeping and washing facilities’ in conjunction with a criticism of policies stating that ’[p]arents of children already in a girlguiding group are not required to know if a trans person will be attending a residential event’. Bringing up shared facilities as an issue at this point is further unnecessary transmisogyny, since it suggests that it is inappropriate for trans girls and cis girls to share sleeping facilities, framing trans girls as predatory or as a risk to other girls. This is transphobic scaremongering which plays to discriminatory stereotypes of trans women and girls.

Well this may be a first – a YA book that actually uses the word bisexual not just in the book but in the FIRST SENTENCE OF THE BLURB:

Rock and Riot 13.06

I made this print as a bit of an extra to take to Thought Bubble last week, and it proved to be pretty popular! <3

So I’ve just popped to the printers to grab a few more copies for those that wanted to get their hands on it. I’ve also updated my shop with a couple of other prints; one of BB the Pekingese, and the last ever Sophie print. <3 My comic, Lightfeets, is also available on my Etsy now! :D

So earlier this year, you may remember me posting an animated trailer for a fake web-series. I said that I wasn’t going to make an episode, but in reality, I was already working on it. 

Later, I posted a call for voice auditions and chose the wonderful Marissa Mastrocola to play Connie and Madison Martin to play Carla. I’ve been working with them to create the first episode of Rock and Riot, which will be entirely be a remake of the first chapter of my comic.
