“It’s beautiful when you don’t look”

This is a random sketch I did in school. It started off as a crazy out of the blue idea. I began to close my eyes and held the pen on my left hand. I had let my hand glide to the smooth paper and let my intuition take over. It turned out imperfect albeit beautiful, nevertheless: the image that transpired.

If only we did that more often. Acting with our soul not with our eyes. Not making what is only visible the priority but the actual substance of something or someone. If we should’ve appreciated and looked at things like an equally spread out paper, we are probably living in a beautiful place right now. No rights are to be neglected, no human is to be treated differently.

AGot is by far my favorite Filipino musical since I have only watched barely enough to say a few. I love how art can trigger all types of feelings out of me. How this art did that and how much I can relate to it is indescribable. It gave the perfect amount of humor while keeping the societal issues dignified.

I am one who likes to see all sides of the story and give a little bit of reasoning on why things had happened. I also do that to properly give my personal judgement on to something. I also like putting myself on other people’s shoes just to try to understand why they do what they do. I tried to make an attempt to put myself in Ferdinand Marcos’ shoes and those who abuse their powers. My mind blew. It hurt like hell. I dug into the deepest depths of my thinking capacity in order to justify what they did. Nothing came out as if I had been kept in a dark cave without a torch in hand. But I knew my difficulty to think of possible justifications for their actions is what kept me human. What happened during the martial law gave me more proofs and reasons on why I sometimes hate my own kind, and how disgusting and evil a person can get.
