I have a few more pieces to do in this detachment, looking forward to sharing those as well.

I wont go back over the paint for the guys as that was outlined in previous chapters. The basing was done with a number of technical paints from Citadel, just giving these guys a little final touch. My schedule has opened up a lot so I plan on doing a lot more in the near future. I have a particular project I’m excited to open up the next part with soon.

Lots of the same colours from my pathfinders. Ulthuan Grey for the white armor. Dark Vermillion from Vallejo for the red. A new one I got, dark reaper, for the grey bits. The gold is all retributor armour. All of that done in nuln oil. The legs/arms and feet, done with Zandri dust and ushabti bone, were both shaded in agrax. The soldiers sans helmets are as done before as well, Royal blue highlighted with blue-green and shaded in druchii violet. I have more of these guys to do so I’ll probably have another post like this coming.

So the base and cloaked parts are done with martian ironcrust given two generous layers with reikland fleshshade, then dry brushed with terminatus stone and given one last glazing of the same shade again. The white is simply the corax white can I used to prime the model. The red on the shoulder, gun and headpiece is done with Vallejo dark vermillion. The black and grey on the gun are varying mixes of Vallejo black and neutral grey. The light blue on the gun and on the stealth field is done with slightly whitened Vallejo green blue, and then a much more whitened version of that is used for the thin line over the field. All of the armoured bits are shaded with nuln oil.  I’m glad I finished this off. I think next I’ll be doing a model I’ve sat on for a very very long time. 

I don’t quite remember all that was done on the work before my hiatus. For the head, I can say that was done with Vallejo black-red, balthasar gold, ushabti bone and baneblade brown all shaded with agrax earthshade. On the base, I utilized an extra weapon from the wrathmonger box and a games workshop skull. All that on top of the same agrellan badland basing I used last time as well as some shading with agrax and dry brushing of terminatus stone. Still not sure if I’m going to keep with chaos mens or my Tau as we continue. I’ll catch a vibe and just follow that.

These handsome devils took me a while to paint but they were a blast. The white armour plates are based in Ulthuan grey. The red is dark vermillion and the grey on the guns is a combination of payne’s grey and neutral grey. The gold is retributor armor. All the above is shaded in nuln oil. The brown is Zandri dust shaded in agrax. The skin is a base of royal blue, shaded in druchii violet, layered with blue-green and then given another layer of the same shade. The ground for the bases were made with Agrellan badland and Astrogranite Debris technical paints dry brushed with Terminatus stone. The lenses on the helmeted railfinders are based in runefang steel and then covered in soulstone blue and spiritstone red technical paints. I’m not sure whether yet to close out this chapter and maybe work on something else yet or to keep working through some Tau. I’m still just going where my heart leads me.

It got a little messy at points but this guy was a lot of fun. I don’t fully get how to do the transfers yet so I’m not adding anything to that white hanging bit yet. I wasn’t sure how ambitious to be with the base but I wasn’t sure what to do so I just sort of threw moss on there. I feel like I did a good job defining the muscles and I’m very happy about that. Next up is some railfinders.

I couldn’t help but go with the Evangelion paint scheme. I think it just works so well on this model. The body is all done in Vallejo while all the metallics were done using citadel paints. The base is simple project glue with craft store diorama snow. The ork arm on the base is compliments of a friend of mine, although I painted it and added it to the base. I’m looking forward to doing more Tau in the upcoming weeks and having a fully painted kill team not too far from now.

There were a lot more Vallejo paints used in this one. The cloak being done with Vallejo black red and trimmed with cork brown, both being layered over with agrax earthshade. The blade is a simple combo of leadbelcher with nuln oil over top then highlighted with runefang steel and final another layer of shade, this time druchii violet to give it the purple magically glow I thought was fitting of a hexblade. The campaign so far has been very fun and I can’t wait to see what more this guy gets up to.
