When you ask your partner (who is plural) questions Abt their experience with alters/did in general, and some of that shit starts sounding really familiar, and you start to wonder if that imaginary friend who never went away and sometimes took over was actually*just* an imaginary friend, but you don't want to say "hey, I think I may have an alter!" Bc a small part of you is scared that you're just faking it and that you're gonna ruin your relationships bc people will think you're either faking or genuinely fucking insane.

And you've done lots of reading and research into the matter and are pretty sure it's actually another bitch in your brain but again, a small part of you is so scared that your faking bc people told you your whole life that you were a liar and a faker as a means of abusing you and you still carry that despite multiple people telling you that you actively downplay your issues all the time.
