She cocked her head, questioning Joâs wording. Changed? Please. Noodle knew the forced-cough move anywhere. If Maya was trans, she was certainly passing. Hell, she was gorgeous. Noodle has always been a sucker for blue hair. And some height. And⊠damn, Maya really did remind her of 2D. So was it weird to find her attractive?
The sound of her voice snapped her back to reality, and she realized she was staring. Fuck.
âThatâs, uh, great! Demon Days is hard to come by. But you already said that, didnât you? Sorry. Okay. UhâŠâ
She turned back to Jo, who was much easier to talk to.
âSo, how about that gig? What kind of music do you play?â
âOh, well, we kinda just play various rock, mainly punk stuff. Like the White Stripes. Itâs just Cass and i, Cass is on drums. Weâre playing at a bar tonight, thatâs usually all we can do.â Jo shrugged. âItâs getting there, though. I guess.â
âTheyâre a really great band, too⊠The Temporary Chokeholders.â Maya smiled. âI like to say i started it, because they were both complaining about how they wanted to do a band and i told them to start one together.â
âMaya, told isnât a proper word for what you did.â She looked at Noodle. âIt took her five minutes to muster the courage to mutter âyou two should play togetherâŠââ. Both Jo and Maya giggled.Â
âEveryone loves the punk stuff. And thatâs quite the name,â she chuckled. If they were just starting out, what they needed was a bit of publicity. And what better way to get it than to know the Gorillaz? Theyâre going to put out an album next year. Suddenly, she was relevant again. And so she had an idea.
âImagine, the Gorillaz themselves, showing up to play with The Temporary Chokeholders.â
