I’m so excited to share my first transcription with you all! If you haven’t heard, I’m collaborating with @pianissimomezzoforte​ (aka @itsanidiom​) and @the-aksiz-inator​ to post Hamilton sheet music as a temporary substitute until LMM publishes the official score. As a reminder, this is the piano accompaniment only; I debated adding vocal parts as well, but considering the extra effort required to add lyrics and harmonies, I probably won’t do so unless there’s sufficient demand (and, let’s face it, we’ve all memorized the entire cast recording anyway). 

Anyways, I started notating two days ago and I’ve been tackling this project in hour-long spurts, and here we are! I knew “Satisfied” would be a challenge, seeing that it’s 5 ½ minutes long, but I still managed to underestimate how long it would take haha. There’s a lot of repetition involved, and I apologize for the sound being hollow at times without the proper percussion needed to round it out. Nevertheless, it was still a lot of fun to do and I hope you all enjoy! I look forward to working on the remaining songs.

Honestly, I don't think I can make a very good guide for others to follow because I've built up several shorthands for these characters. If I did a step-by-step guide, it'd turn out exactly like those "How to Draw [insert whatever]" books where it looks like they skipped a bunch of steps to get to the final product LOL but I can definitely show a snippet of behind-the-scenes work and the things I'm thinking about when I draw!

My sketches can get quite messy, but they're readable to me LMAO I prefer to do base sketches in red (and occasionally blue) because a non-black colour feels less "final" and tricks my brain into being looser/messier with the lines which helps with the gesture/flow of the poses. (Also, a different colour helps with cleaning the drawing up as it makes it easier to visually separate your clean lines from your rough ones.)

I focus a lot more on the gesture of the characters rather than super accurate construction, since the energy of the pose is more important to me. I do make sure to establish the position of the shoulders and hips (and head) though because that's where you can find the opportunity for contrapposto (my beloved....)
