Honestly, I thought that it was a really nice paper, but I keep seeing people call it abysmal so idk if I just went wrong somewhere๐ I ran out of time and missed around 30 marks (ยฑsince I started some of these questions, that includes Q15 and I hope to get like two marks from it since I didn't finish it)
I forgot what Q7 was but if it's that trig proof then dw I barely did anything there๐ I'm actually decent at working with CAST diagrams but it was locked behind part a and I'm so mad about that๐ญ
I am also hoping for a B at least, my firm wants an A but screw that atp๐ญ

With like 2 minutes left I realised how to do it, did it really fast then went to part b, but part b wasn't working so either I made a right mess of part a or my brain shut off at part b ๐

alright this is gonna be probably very disorganized but fuck it we ball
logarithms are the inverse functions of exponentials, so all the inverse function rules apply (graphs mirrored over y=x, they negate each other, all that. worth noting that for them to negate each other, the bases do have to be the same (so ln(5^x) can't really be simplified the way ln(e^x) can)).
logarithms in general are a bit of an expedited way of simplifying exponentials. their definition, though not at all formal, is if log(b)a = u, then b^u = a. they were originally introduced by some guy in the 1600s to make large, high-accuaracy computations more easily and then euler found their connection to exponentials.
there are a few identities that are fun to mess around with, kinda in the same way trignometric identities are. they're mostly used to expand/simplify logarithms in the context of something else. here's the wikipedia list cause i didn't feel like typing out all that (formulas are a pain on tumblr)
deriving and integrating logs are. so fun. like so fun i love it so much. probably because it's painfully fucking simple lmao- anyways! the reason e and ln are so common is because their derivatives and integrals are so simple, the derivative and integral of e^x is e^x + c, and the derivative of ln(x) is 1/x. more generally, though, the derivative of a^x is (a^x)ln(a), and the integral of a^x is (a^x)/ln(a). and the derivative of log(a)x is 1/xln(a) and the integral is xlog(a)x - x/ln(a) + c.

I understand the y=e^x one fairly well and the basic y=logx one, but the moment they use logs on actual contextual formulas (something like V=1500+13000e^(-0.098t) where V is like price and t is time in years, I just made up the numbers) and they either log the whole thing or just one side (somehow?) and that's where I'm completely useless๐

i know they all pass through x = 1 (assuming you haven't added a constant) and the lower the base you have, the more stretched out it will be.
adding a positive constant will shift the entire graph upwards and a negative one will shift it downwards. to shift left and right, you add the constant directly to x (positive for a left shift and negative for a right shift). and multiplying the entire function by a constant will also stretch or contract the function
i think that applies to both? i'm really not sure, like i said graphs are not my strong suit
