Seeing different people's ideas about mobian culture is fun!
I admittedly had to pull out good old google when you started talking about DNA and wtf paraphilia meant lol.
In the least weird way possible a part of me wondered how a human and mobian pair would work. Like how would Topaz x Rogue work and stuff?
(Elise x Sonic too but that's a ship people fight over a lot.)
It sounds like it wouldn't be fun for either party culture wise from the sounds of it, but if it's a healthy relationship, then good for them imo!
Lol, happy to introduce new info.
Hmm, I haven't watched Sonic X. I've actually only recently gotten over by childhood aversion to it. But I imagine Rouge to be pretty integrated into human culture. She didn't grow up in it, but she did move there as soon as she was able. So I'd imagine dating her would probably be pretty simple for Topaz. Like dating a smaller, fluffier, human who sheds more.
I can't imagine Sonic in a serious romantic relationship.
But for the average United Federation citizen and the average islander mobian, I don't think the relationship is likely to work out unless both of them get cool with a few things very quickly. Teen and young adult mobians are more likely to be seen in the UF as they're prone to wanderlust. Most of them move back within a few years if they don't get immediately overwhelmed. Islanders especially like to visit human areas as they're the closest. Mainlanders are pretty rare in human lands and unwelcoming of humans in their lands.
Mobians are polyamorous and very few areas have any concept of marriage. Wanting an exclusive relationship would likely be seen as controlling or obsessive. Marriage, if you somehow convinced them to engage in that, would be nigh impossible due to a lack of documents from the mobian side. If you move in together, it's going to be you and their other partners who are expected to be your partners too. If there are children either from your partner or their(now your) partners you will be expected to engage equally in their care.
Most of the problems would probably come from the outside though. A lot of islander communities have very little hierarchy and are intensely communal with no means of currency. The UF is based on the United States which is incredibly hierarchical, capitalistic, and individualistic. Those things don't really mix well so your biggest problem would be the mobian moving back to the islands.
That's assuming the mobian moves to human lands. But everything being too big for you is easier to deal with than everything being to small for you, so mobians are more likely to stay in human lands than vice versa.
If you want a more solid relationship with a mobian, you'd probably have to find one born and raised in the UF. Which is currently very rare.
