First) That Sonic was raised almost entirely by chao. Eggman was the first non-chao person he can remember meeting and that almost immediately led into the events of the first sonic game. Until shortly before the events of Sonic Adventure, or Sonic OVA, Sonic was non-verbal.

I've just been winging it this whole time, drawing his quills is so hard tho urgehsguah

He has some Superglue residue from an attempt to glue his broken sword to his hand. Luckily the paint usually creates a protective layer so the plastic shouldn't be damaged underneath.

The sword took the most of the superglue damage. The hilt is completely frosted, with a lot of it also covering the guard spokes. I'll need to completely remove the paint from this.

There is also significant damage to the tip of the blade. It isn't cracked, but the plastic is in rough shape.

First we do a quick dip in water, heated 215f, to soften the plastic and break the adhesive.

Using a wedge we can separate the hilt from the guard.

I'll work on cleaning off the glue and repainting it later. For now, the peices go into the fodder drawers with the other swords I'm working on.

The damaged hand is easy to remove, I have 2 unpainted hands and 2 spare hands in the fodder drawer, so I can swap it out. I'll strip it and repaint it with the others.

He has the typical wear on his quills that you normally see in this figure. A single dot of enamel paint on the tip of each quill is all he needs.

Now, we have his head, shoes, and hands off. Its time to dip him in the spa.

He only needs a few seconds, too long and the paint can wrinkle.

Carefully remove and inspect every ball joint. Even the ones that look and feel okay on the figure should be removed and checked for flaws and damage. You don't want to find out a joint peg was failing when you turn a limb and have it break on you. This figure had 2 loose joints, a blue hip joint and a gold shoulder joint. Replaced them with fresh, firm joints that let him hold his pose and stand on his own.

Now he's all done! Oh, but he still needs his accessories!

I have 1 visor with intact pegs for him. (Still repairing the others) and I recently got a new spare sword, unbroken too! It was a good find.

Now he's ready for his next home!
