AVA is like. hey what if you were created by a cruel and unloving god. but also the god doesn't know you're alive and is just blowing off steam by killing you in every way imaginable for years. and what if you escape the god and find freedom and home and family. and what if that was all violently torn from you and there was nothing you could do. and what if you spent years trying to destroy the god and those that destroyed your family. and what if in the process you discovered that the cruel god made others and loved them and was good to them and had relationship with them but not you and you will always carry the hurt you were born to carry because he didn't even realise you were alive.
and also you're a stickman.
! ! !
Okay, so I had some crazy thoughts while I was admiring this beautiful picture!
When Cho and Orange were first brought in to Rocket org, Orange had his hands tied behind his back, while Chosen was paused, they did this because they knew He had powers and that he was dangerous, but in the news letter sneak peak we saw that Chosen's hands were tied infront of him, so since he's lost his powers they don't see him as a threat anymore, but also they see him less dangerous even compared to an average stickfigure! (which they thought Orange was before they saw Chosen's memories)
Or they decided to tie his hands like that bc why not, and i'm overthinking it lol
But if it's true, i think they are underestimating him, he's lost his powers, but he's still a skilled fighter ù u
I believe in him, he survived so much, he'll figure out this too! And he managed not to drown at the end, he can do anything!
When i tell people i'm watching a show about stick figures, probably this is what they imagine

Years ago i was making up fake scenarios with avm, and in one of them
they were caught by a huge snow storm
they hid in a cave
and Green had it worst
I AM A PROPHET!
I find the AvA series so hard to explain to people, like...
"Yeah, it's about stickmen, but they all have distinct personalities, have emotional bonds built on trust and love with each other and they're really good at fighting and sparring and they all have their own talents, quirks, and abilities
Speaking of fighting the fighting scenes are amazing, they're all choreographed so well and it's all smoother than butter
The storytelling. The STORYTELLING
And the music. THE MUSIC
...
And there's also a pig"
Next time I dare you, to tell the plot of AvA to a friend, but in a way that they can't figure out they're stickfigures living in a computer, then tell them the truth at the very end and enjoy the confusion on their face :3
Ive seen a lot of discourse surrounding the latest AvA short with Victim and Mitsi, and despite the problems it's brought up, it also highlights one of the main reasons I love this fandom above all others.
I first found this series when the AvA IV came out. I was young, and I just liked watching the cool animation. I never looked into the story or characters or overarching plot, not at first. Then, about a year ago, I got back into it, and while the animation was still great, there was a new factor that drew me in.
For the first time, I really started interacting with others in a fandom space. The absolute creativity, drive, and passion in this community really amazed me. Everyone had their own takes and interpretation, and it was an open space to share them all with each other.
To me, that is what makes this series so great. The characters, while they have defining traits in the canon material, are largely up to interpretation. It promotes this element of digging deeper than what you see, using context to understand actions, and even using your own creative minds to make the world your own. There are flaws in the series and writing, yes, but honestly, I hardly pay attention to the canon writing. It's much more fun to interpret things how you want them to be, or how others see them.
With the example of the latest short, people are criticizing Mitsi's writing and portrayal, frankly, as they should be. But within that, people are sharing how they view it: Mitsi is impulsive, she wants to treat those she cares about, she is a gift-giver, etc. And these ideas grow and change with each person that contributes, until the interpretation we have is, in my eyes, much greater than the singular intention of it.
The greatest part of this series, more so than the writing, animation, or story, is the community that surrounds it. People who shape this world with their own hands and share it with others. I think the build of the series allows for a lot of this creative interpretation, in ways that you can't with other fandoms (since the characters and their identities are ambiguous). And who knows, maybe I'm way off point and I need to stop "fanonizing" or whatever the word may be, but if this fandom has taught me anything, it's that it's ok to have your own views and share them. That's what community is for, after all.
GUYS GUYS PURPLE AND KING ORANGE WILL BE THERE TOO OMG!!!

AvA12: What TDL Knows
All throughout this episode, we see a camera within Rocket Corp and following Victim.
This is Dark's camera.
I wanted to make a record of all the things that Dark saw with this camera and what he likely knows.
First off:
Dark knows that Red, Green, Blue and Yellow were revived.
This is the first camera shot we see, and it's set up to appear like Victim is watching. But this is not Victim or one his camera, this is the Virabot disguised as a camera.
This means that Dark witnessed these memories just as much as Agent did. Dark is aware that RGBY* were revived.
* The memory only shows Green Yellow and Blue, but likely includes Red as well, as if you recall, Red was the last to be revived and he had a little bit of a delay before he popped out of the ground.
Also, this could be what Dark is basing his "Revive Mitsi" goop display off of, as both of them happen in the same way: coming up from the ground, forming from the head down. This gives way to the possibility that Dark himself doesn't intend to bring Mitsi back, but somehow use Orange to do it (although it is more likely Dark would try to do it himself.)
Another caveat is that it's not 100% obvious that Dark knows this is Orange's doing. It could be presumed that he could infer it was Orange, due to the glowing green sparkles, which Dark absolutely saw around Orange when he was getting his ass handed to him, but it's still not certain if he has or not.
The only thing we know he knows for certain is that RGBY got revived.
Also in this scene, Dark saw at least a little bit of how Yellow summoned the cursor during the Showdown. It is unknown how much, given Agent started downloading that memory directly to his glasses.
Moving on...
Dark saw Chosen be removed from The Box
This is less an important observation, but I'm going to take the time to pose this question:
How long was Dark's camera there in The Box room?
It's possible, although not confirmed, that it could have been there the entire time. And if it was, it could have seen the entire fight in The Box.
The Box's walls, while opaque to the occupants within it, are actually transparent to those outside of it; It's how Agent was seeing Victim and Chosen, and seeing Victim's body signals, like how he asked for the lasso. The Mercs were also watching the fight.
This would likely also be the case for a camera.
There are no shots in "The Box" that show the area of the room that the camera appeared to be squatting in (very high up on the wall behind Agent and the Mercs) so it's impossible to tell if Dark was watching or not.
[I personally think that it's very likely that the camera was there the entire time and Dark was watching. It wasn't that long of a time span between when Victim leaves The Box and Yellow is brought in. It was likely already in position, especially if it had taken notice to Chosen and Orange being brought in.]
Dark saw pretty much ALL of Victim's ploy to trick Alan into Renaming him
This is when it becomes clear that the camera-bot isn't following/focusing on Chosen so much as it is on Victim. It's watching Victim, not Agent or Chosen, which gives us a clue that Dark himself is interested in Victim.
Depending on how long this camera was off spying inside of Rocket Corp, Dark possibly knows a shit-ton about Victim. This is pretty explicitly implied with how Dark not only knows about Mitsi's existence at all, but very specially her 'death pose', or the last frame of Agent's memory that she was visible before she blew up.
Victim has a picture of this exact frame on his crazy wall, making it a potential place Dark saw it from. If this is true, Dark likely also saw the rest of the crazy wall as well.
This, in turn, could mean he knew a significant amount about Victim's plans for a LONG time.
There's no concrete evidence of this, however, so for now it's just speculation.
What is certain is that the camera was sitting there watching Victim during the entire time he tricked Alan into renaming him, and him gaining his powers.
Which also means...
Dark saw Chosen get Renamed
This is a detail that's easy to miss bc the camera isn't actually shown watching it like some of the other things, but it's there at the cliff side. It's still watching.
So Dark knows what Victim did to Chosen.
Also, it's not the main subject of this post, but ALAN also saw Victim do this. I chose the above screenshot very intentionally, because it shows his desktop, which is meant to imply Alan could see this and was watching.
So Alan knows Chosen has been renamed as well.
Which brings me to the final camera scene:
Dark saw Victim "Go Home" through the Skygrid
Nothing much to say about this one, except that it explains why Dark was on the computer to meet Victim.
Because Dark was watching, when he saw Victim leave, Dark likely followed. He didn't even really need to do it all that quickly, because he had the entire duration of Victim's fight with Alan to make it there.
Dark likely followed Victim into the computer, but remained hidden there while Victim fought Alan, keeping an eye on the fight but not getting involved.
And this, this is honestly the most intriguing part.
Dark doesn't get involved. Not in ANY OF THIS. Until after Victim's fight is over.
Only then does he reveal himself.
Which leads me to believe Dark was following Victim and watching him because he was intrigued by him, but was waiting to see what he was capable of. Judging him. Trying to assess if he was 'worthy' or useful enough, for whatever reason.
I've mentioned that we've underestimated Dark's patience before, but it goes mentioning again: Dark is far more patient than we ever knew.
It feels very spider-like, as well. A spider, lingering on the outskirts of their web, paying attention to the minute vibrations, until little gnats and flies flutter by and get stick on the sticky threads. The bigger the prey, the more it causes a disturbance, and the greater the interest the spider has in it; until it creeps down and pounces. Ensnaring it's prey, wrapping it up until it cannot escape, and feeding.
A cold and clinical, yet efficient, hunter.
Quite fitting, given Dark's already existing arachnid affiliation.
The other potentially important part is Dark saw Victim go to Alan through the Skygrid. It's a toss up on weather this is significant. Dark already knew where Alan's Skygrid Tile was, so the only new information to him would be that it was broken (thanks Cho) and he could physically enter it. This information doesn't seem like it would be important or useful to Dark, beyond it being what allowed him to follow after Victim.
[Chosen really left Alan's computer wide open to infiltration didn't he? Someone should really fix that hole.]
Anyway, in recap, Dark knows:
About RGBY being revived (potentially by Orange)
About Yellow summoning the Cursor using his own computer and Internet Gates
Likely that Chosen was captured and that Victim beat the crap out of him
Likely that Orange is also captured and is now imprisoned
About Victim duping Alan into Renaming him
About Victim renaming Chosen
Likely how Renaming works now
Potentially witnessed Victim's fight with Alan.
He also:
Knows who Mitsi is
How Mitsi died
How important Mitsi is to Victim
Likely who Agent is
Likely who the other Mercenaries are (potentially watched the Tryouts)
Likely the inner workings of Rocket Corp
Likely how a lot of their tech works
He also also:
Knows that Orange cannot be killed like a normal stick
Knows about Orange's powers (and what they feel like lmao)
Likely knows that he killed Mitsi. Bc let's face it: He did. We all know that's where this is heading.
He likely does NOT:
Know that killing RGBY could have triggered Orange's powers. I don't think, from his perspective during Showdown, that would've been a conclusion he'd likely come to. We also don't know if this is true either.
Know that Orange doesn't know how to use his powers/can't access them right now. Dark was a little bit busy being blown to pieces to see Orange collapse after reviving RGBY, and I don't think he would ever even think this was a thing. He likely thinks that Orange is like him and Chosen: freely able to use his powers whenever he wants.
Know that Green, Red, and Blue are in Rocket Corp. His camera was following Victim, so it likely left with him and Agent and never noticed that they snuck it. Unless he has more than one, and one's still there...
Know that Alan changed. I don't think he spared a thought towards Alan during his recovery and his years spying on Rocket Corp. I also don't think he ever really cared to spy on Alan before sending him the Virabot either. Thus, I think he's just as clueless as Victim is to Alan's change of how he treats stick figures. Alan's behavior during Showdown certainly didn't suggest he'd changed much; though it might be possible Dark was confused/angry that Alan was assisting Chosen.
Know how to actually revive sticks. I think he might attempt a bastardized version of Orange's, using his vira goop/corrupted code, and I don't think it'll end well.
In conclusion: Dark knows a LOT of stuff. And a lot of it is potentially dangerous information for him to be in possession of.
The amount Dark knows actually makes it difficult to speculate what might happen next/what he might do next, because there's so many options and ways these pieces could fit together, with no way to know what's actually important and what isn't.
But, hopefully this will help some of you with your speculations, since now you know what Dark has seen and what he is aware of, and what he might be aware of.
Thank you for making this!! It's a really good summary!!
It also made me realize, that if Dark was able to follow Victim to the computer, he likely still has his old powers too, despite being blown into pieces and gaining new a new power.
also, you said Victim doesn't know that Alan has changed, but i remember seeing a post that said, that since Victim used Yellow the make Alan click on him, he had to know that Alan cares for stickfigures now, and this hasn't left my mind ever since, so i think he just didn't care if he has changed or not, he wanted to get his revenge eitherway
Also, also, Dark seeing basically everything but still remaining hidden until it's the perfect time for him to show up really shows his patience, and throughout the waiting (since he knew what Victim planned) he had more than enough time to work on every detail of his own plan, which we could see the first step in the end of the episode

INSANE THEORY BASED ON AVA 12
Hear me out guys—
What if
Orange wasn't able to access his powers all that much so far because he is the
Second coming; CHOSEN ONE'S RETURN
BUT THERE WAS 'A' CHOSEN ONE ALREADY
AND NOW THERE ISN'T
So he can be the, you know
RETURN
His powers will only unlock to him now
And he will become the new "second" Chosen One
Or alternatively help TCO return
I thought the same!
And the reason he was able to use his powers in the Showdown is because Chosen was weak and he almost died!
Hello?! Whys no-one talking about this?! We get to see AvA12 in like 3 weeks?! I can not process this yet
