They lose more money the longer they wait.
I find it interesting that Infold/Papergames haven't still said anything. I'm hopeful for tomorrow, but it's interesting to see what happens next.
But I'm a big, firm believer in that infold/Papergames wants to solve this as soon as possible. It's just not in their benefit to keep this up in the air like this.
Something I want to point out, that even if they get some money (because there are people who don't care about the boycott or are just completely unaware), they are still getting less money than they expect.
Here's the entire history from earnings and downloads without July's income:
Even at their lowest, their revenue has been 30 million dollars based on SensorTower's data (which doesn't cover revenue from LADS official website or other means). Their true earnings are likely higher, but SensorTower's data shows a good overall situation for them.
It's clear that LADS has been always the breadwinner for their games - none of the Nikki games or MLQC are earning nearly as much as LADS does. So even if one of these games have had boycotts, LADS has been the one that has covered those earning losses for the last +2 years. But the other games can't cover for LADS's losses.
This boycott is EXTREMELY damaging for LADS:
Multimillion companies have multimillion company level expenses. Expenses don't care if there's a boycott going on - your staff needs to be paid, your premises still cost rent, your bills keep coming in.
Those expenses are often calculated so that you can cover them with expectations how much you make in the future.
New releases often cause a surge in downloads, and a new wave of stable income. This is something they expected with 6.0 release, but it didn't happen.
It's clear the Wander in Wonder rerun was "oh shit" move from Infold/Papergames. They likely wanted to please the CN audience, and tried to use one of the most iconic and successful banners to please them. It's hard to tell how badly it flopped yet, but I imagine it didn't bring the money they were expecting for.
I think they know they can't really push much reruns to make up the silence in new banners. I hope they are afraid of Rafayel's myth flopping, because that means they would be pressured to do something about Valko and the whole situation.
If they stay silent and don't push for events, even the antis and casual non-aware players will get naturally bored because of that silence.
I'm just curious why they haven't just broken the silence, because I imagine they would want to speak out already and release Valko. I mentioned it earlier and I still believe that it's in their best interests to release him, better sooner than later. All that work with Valko wouldn't go to waste, the main boycott would be solved, and this press surely would attract a lot of new players too.
Like they have the perfect opportunity right in front of their noses. Of course it's risky, of course there will be push back, but most of the players are on Valko's side.
Also something more to note - if you're boycotting right now, also be prepared to support LADS once Valko is out. Spend money, be vocal about him in social media, show overall support to the game, change your rating in the app stores. Give extremely clear signal the thing what we want is happening.
I'm just... hoping for the best rn 😭
