I think I figured out precisely why the Good Omens finale didn't sit right with me.

"Let's just erase everything and start over" feels like such a cop-out.

The interesting thing is, it does feel very Neil G'mn coded. Look at Sandman. But I refuse to believe it's what Pratchett would have wanted.

Now of course, we can't know what he would have written, and I'm not attempting to speak for him. But Pratchett wrote Discworld for fuck's sake, a world that was messy and magical and human. Like the world of Good Omens. Erasing the universe of angels and demons to replace it with a facsimile would be like nuking Discworld and then having a footnote to say "don't worry guys, there's a human AU".

So I don't consider it canon. In my mind, Crowley and Aziraphale are still out there somewhere. In the South Downs. Or Alpha Centauri. Or the Ritz. But always as themselves.
