it’s so bizarre and such a cruel aspect of the autistic experience that when you speak to (allistic esp neurotypical) people in the most clear, straightforward, literal way, instead of taking it literally they project a bunch of negative meanings onto it instead, and then respond to you as though what they’ve conjured up in their imagination is what you actually said

also my parents almost never apologise for anything. which is crazy! i frequently apologise for even minor things but it’s like they refuse to. i think they are both so deeply insecure it’s like they can’t bear to acknowledge they ever made a mistake or did anything wrong

not my mum saying ‘we have feelings too’ implying that my feelings are ever taken into consideration??

also like. ughhhh! the constant shaming as a disabled person for wanting to have any autonomy is infuriating. like both carers and people looking on from the outside really think you should just accept whatever care you’re given without any input, without any clarification, just never knowing what’s going to happen from one moment to the next and whether your needs will be met

asked my parents a perfectly normal clarifying question in response to a message they sent me about my care. my mum replied ‘what a strange question’
