this task requested of him is not the most stimulating way to go about his day, still, he obliges without complaint: retrieve some ingredients this bookstore is stocked with. simple enough.
he enters, aware of the magic this place obscures with a typical book place shroud. he glances at the room further back, then over at the woman.
' has anyone gotten curious of that room? like, normal humans? '

one paw lifts, sensitive to the drastic coldness of the snow blanketing the fields. an unseen trail of another scent unknown to him lead him here, the familiar pursuing it to seek the source. it holds a semblance to werewolves, yet there exists a tinge that prompts him to think differently of what, or who, it was. his ears perk at the sound of something shifting, moving quickly.
then he sees it: another four-legged creature like him on the run. for what reason? is a question he has yet to answer as he begins to pursue. curiosity baits the familiar.

familiris came to experiment

Something did not quite feel right here; for this instance served with an unspoken trepidation. Even so, curiosity bested the experiment—and whilst assistance truly was a necessity, satiating that curiosity was also a need in turn; and thus she approached. ”Sorry—excuse me; can I ask where I am ? I think I took a wrong turn.”
' i do that sometimes, too. ' indeed, his journeys could be the end-result of unplanned wandering. not a good thing, per se, but sometimes it was enjoyable seeing the new & unfamiliar. a smile grazes his lips, perplexed by the stranger. curiosity, if it can be any more visible, flares.
' you're in.. millennium park, ' he has to briefly muse on that answer before vociferating it. at the moment, his occupation can be labeled 'wanderer' with how much he ventures everywhere. ' did you need to go somewhere, specifically? '
It’s got to be close to midnight; the moon shines brightly above, and Kit’s tucked away under the covers, flipping through channels, searching for something decent to watch. There’s never anything on at this time of night, besides infomercials, and The Real Housewives of … something, or other— she’s settled on a B-List comedy ( with a less than reputable cast ). It’s entertaining enough.
The empty house is silent, save for the thumping of clothes in the dryer, and the humming of the television, which is at one of it’s lowest volume settings. That’s why she hears the knock so clearly; it startles her, and she shoots up like she’s just seen ghost. Peering towards the door, through the passageway. She wonders for a moment if she should just ignore it— after all, the only people who knock at the WITCHING hour are psycho killers hellbent on finishing you off. She thinks to call for Red, but decides against waking the sleeping beast— some guard dog.
She rises, and makes her way towards the foyer, hesitantly reaching for the door, expecting to see some kind of storybook character on the other side. She’s happily disappointed.
“If you’re from the cable company, I don’t think this falls under between three p.m. and six p.m."
the door swings open, scents of aged walls from within mixed with a nicer scent ( presumably from the woman living there ). in unity they rush out the entryway & blow past him, perking him up as a result as he takes in the smells. brows arch, observing the woman with a visible interest gleaming in his eyes. she must be who he felt strongly for!
a blink, then two, at her greeting. he shakes his head, ends of his lips curling up, ' no, that's -- it's not why i'm here! ' he dons a smile, almost like a child's when they are armed with pride in unraveling a secret no one else on the playground knows. ' actually, i felt something that prompted me to go here. a witch, aren't you? it looks like you could use some .. assistance. '
he pauses after drizzling in the hint of the reason for his visit.
an audible ahem leaves his lips, still smiling, mind you, then explains: ' i'm a familiar -- servant for a witch. haven't had the chance to help, yet, but i was sure that'd change once i found you. ' he will be happy to abide by the show, don't tell option if skepticism arose from her.
"I believe you," he said, placing a reassuring hand on Warren’s shoulder, "Better to be safe than sorry, let’s just go check things out." He opened his bedroom door and crossed the short distance between his room and his front door in a few seconds, "Maybe the thing left," he offered up with a shrug.
Despite the fear of innocent people possibly getting eating in his neighborhood, Wyatt couldn’t deny the rush he felt, he was probably a bit too excited.
he smiles, gratitude setting in at the notion wyatt believed him. then again, many of things gracing the magician's life couldn't be categorized as normal, or believable. nevertheless, he follows shortly after the male, nodding. ' okay, sounds good. just be careful -- '
only now weariness would set in because it was warren's duty & privilege to act as protection for wyatt. if he gets hurt some way, failure and guilt may torment him until the end of his existence. ' i should go first, juuuust in case. ' he opens the door, stepping outside and glancing around at empty surroundings. mostly empty in terms of people. everyone is on edge about missing people constantly mentioned in the news, but it finally seems like they found a lead to the source.

he reaches the front doorsteps of the home. an inappropriate time to drop-by, he is aware, with the moon lingering overhead in the darkened skies & the rest of the neighborhood likely to be asleep with lack of light, yet there resides a person of a particular power that draws him there. while the presence he senses is a bit devoid of something many other humans possess, he isn't dissuaded: this is the first chance in a long while he gets to seek one of her kind.
and so, a hand raises, fingers curled into a loose fist, and he knocks several times, knuckles rapping against the wooden door.
jenny was walking along with no issues so far, except the snow sticking to the bottom of her jeans. no issues until -whap- something hits the back of her head, jerking it forward. she stops dead in her tracks and quickly checks her ribbon before she turns to yell at whomever threw the snowball at her. ”you’re obviously not sorry, you pathetic use of life! what if i had a brain condition or there were rocks or glass in that? were you dropped on your head as a child or were you just born this stupid?”
the upturned grin pulled down to a frown. his eyes widened. a piece of him preferred being met with a stern scolding, but this is irritation at its core. suppose anyone could be angry if they were the innocent person pelted. & startled.
' no! the snowball didn't have rocks or glass, or else i would've felt something on my hands-- or noticed it was a bit heavy, ' he almost misses the point of her response. ' i don't know -- look, i was only trying to have some fun. there's snow, everywhere! don't tell me you're not kinda tempted to roll around in it. '

light bounces off the silverware that is so clumsily handled; it spins around his digits, one by one, encircling a finger & transfers to the next, creating quick, singular rotations for each. his attempt is meager and quick, but he breaks as he mistimes moving the spoon across and it escapes his grasp. instead of a clatter of its collision with the ground or table, it ended up striking a neatly suited man's shoulder.
' sorry -- ' he apologies casually, voice devoid of much sincerity -- he is much too light-hearted of his accident. a laugh escapes from his lips, a smile that hopes to ask if everything is okay arises from the corners of his mouth. ' there's no dirt on it right -- no food, or anything? ' he picks up the spoon, glancing at it and returning his gaze to the man.

" —— no, i’m the one who is sorry. "
she turned and started walking away from the stranger before making it seem like she mistakenly dropped something. bending down, she grabbed a handful of snow before jumping up and throwing it like she would a softball at the stranger, hitting him in the chest.
“— no, scratch that. i am NOT sorry. i made you drop your guard, novice !! “
the familiar, thrown off by that surprisingly nonchalant response, almost felt tempted to further on with his apologies, to get the okay that everything is fine & there remains no pent-up frustration bound to explode with what he did. it was a joke, after all. he wasn't extremely worried, but a bit surprised, as she bent down. his face met the cold, icy projectile; he winced from the cold and the unexpected impact.
' oh! jeez! ' he used his jacket sleeve to swipe any remnants from his face, then bursted out in more laughter. ' that's -- wow. you got me. i have a lot more to learn, it looks like. it's not over, though. '
Alice only had been outside to get some coffee for herself, one hand stuffed into her coat pocket to keep it warm while the other was holding the plastic cup. It had been snowing again last night, and now everything was covered with a white blanket. Almost peaceful.
That was also why she’d not expected something bad to happen when suddenly something hit the hunter, making her gasp and the precious cofffee was spilled all over the snow. Something cold ran down her neck and she blinked and then slowly turned around.
"I…. I really hope it was…. damn my coffee…."
responding to another's presence by greeting them with one cold, wintry, makeshift bullet is not the reasonable route most would take. then again, the familiar rarely has mature standards in terms of how to act with other people. he just sought fun, & when it was discovered, there is no way he would keep it in the dark just for himself.
the cup spilled its contents onto the white coating, meshing the white frozen droplets. he saw it, even saw a little steam condense from the contact of heat with the cold, and his mouth made an o.
' oh -- how much is it? i'm sure there're better coffee places right? ... at least the snow woke you up a little more. '
