Happy MCYTAUfest 2026! Aufest is an event where writers and artists pair up to create an AU over the course of two months.
I had the privilege of being an artist for leviathan_tells, and got to work in tandem with the other artist, Caro. Together, we are Team Chess! Leviathan has come up with a great world for this one, a whole Chess AU! Iâm so excited for everyone to see what we have created.
Personally, I made a Web Weave encompassing the general events of chapters 1-4. Oh boy, no one is happy. I guess a failing political marriage can do that to you.

I just read this incredible amazing DEVASTATING fic that explores the origins of cwilbur and how cphil became his parent (The answer is sexual assault just so everyone knows). It was terrible in a good way and I read it through my fingers with my stomach clenched the whole time just waiting for the other shoe to drop. But it was also so so good.

Like it was always my interpretation for the dsmp that Wilbur was accidental child acquisition in some way. Because like personally Phil doesnt read as like. Wanting to be a parent or someone who was like oh boy Ive always wanted kids. But he does care too much and too deeply especially if he thinks something is his responsibility or his fault. So he tries. And it's fumbling and blustering and a bit awkward at times and he doesn't really know what he's doing but he's trying to make sure Wilbur is happy.
My personal headcanon is that Phil saved a witch / some powerful entity. Who then went here's a child as a reward. And Phil is like uhh what do I do with this. But the kid is his now so he canât just abandon them. So he tries his best.
But THIS! Oh god, this. Sure, yeah. Sexual assault is definitely one way to explain unplanned child acquisition and also why Phil keeps him. Because no, he never really wanted kids. And god does he hate that king guy. But youâre mine. Thats all that matters. Which is SUCH a Phil thing to do. He always tries a little too hard, holds on a little too long. Because Phil always looks for there to be a reason. It has to matter. He stayed in new lamanburg for so long because there had to be something worth it. Something in that country had to be worth his sonâs death. There had to be something worth fighting for. Worth dying for.
So Phil lies to himself. That it doesnât matter how it happened. That it doesnât keep him up at night. That he canât still see the Kings face. He keeps Wilbur because that's a gift isnt it? Maybe he doesn't have to think about the...what happened, because he has Wilbur. Wilbur is his son. Isnât that enough? I didnât want you, but I kept you.
And Wilbur. Poor Wilbur. He developed depression at age like 14 and it went downhill from there. He has been depressed since he hit puberty and he hit that early. And he thinks he's broken, that thereâs something wrong with him. And again Phil is trying! He is trying his best. But Philâs best...isnt enough to pull Wilbur out of that darkness. Wilbur needed more of a support system that he just didn't have. Which isnât his fault, and it isnât Philâs fault. Really it's no one's fault.
And that almost makes it hurt worse. It would have been easier if there was someone to blame! If Phil had hated him, that would be easier because Wilbur could tell himself all his bad thoughts came from having a bad dad. But he didnât have a bad dad. He had Phil, who was fine. Sometimes even good. He had a happy childhood. Phil loves him. So why does he feel wrong.
So this has to be the reason. Heâs a product of rape. Thatâs why he feels so tainted, why he hurts everyone he touches (his thoughts, not mine). He canât see the joy he brought Phil, the joy he brought others, because all he can think about is that his existence started from pain and hurt and betrayal. Even if it was pointed out to him that how youâre born doesnât define you, that you can become your own person, Wilbur wouldnât be able to hear it.
This solidifies my personal belief that Wilbur's death was assisted suicide. Phil didn't murder him, and Iâm using that word intentionally. He more helped Wilbur stab himself. Wilbur was hurting and Phil didnât know why. So he tried to help, tried to do what Wilbur asked. Thatâs why he cries out âyou're my son!â I don't care where he came from. I don't care what you've done. You're my son. Thats all that matters.
But Wilbur can only think about how he's hurt everyone he's ever touched, including Phil. He just needs Phil to stand there and hold the sword steady so he can impale himself on it. Death would be a mercy.

for the record, i think the syndicate was 100% in the right for going to snowchester and asking c!tubbo about the nukes and his intentions. the server had a bad track record with governments and i don't think there was anything wrong with like. y'know. making sure tubbo wasn't going to do an imperialism on the rest of the server and subtly letting him know that they were watching, just in case.
do y'all remember how one of the reasons people pointed to as the syndicate being evil was because of the wither skulls they used as decoration despite both c!techno and c!phil lampshading it and making a joke about how people were going to take that reading? and then people did exactly that with no trace of irony.

Though weâre tethered to the story we must tell// When I saw you, well I knew weâd tell it well // Iâd give anything to hear you say it one more time // That the universe was made just to be seen by our eyes
"respect ccâs boundaries always. donât try to find loopholes. donât try to post boundary breaking material where you think they wonât see. just stop breaking boundaries. a fictional ship is never more important than real peopleâs feelings â¤ď¸" - okay but shelby explain to me how, if they don´t see it, it hurts their feelings. I don´t get it. is it "I don´t like the thought of people having different thoughts about my characters than I do"? well first of all good news, if you don´t see it you don´t have to know! and second, people will always have different thoughts about your characters than you, that´s what creating a story and putting it out into the world means. people will interpret a story in different ways! it´s inevitable!
The core problem with basically every single instance of boundaries discourse I see is that nobody seems to know what the word "boundary" actually means.
Boundaries are personal and social. They are based on mutual respect. Boundaries are not orders, they are requests, intended to establish a cause and effect: if you do this thing, I will do this other thing. "If you show me ship fic, I will block you" is a boundary. "You are not allowed to make ship fic at all" is not a boundary, that is a rule.
Rules are not boundaries. Rules are based on power and control - they are imposed upon you. This is not necessarily bad, but it must come with understanding of where they can be applied. Rules only apply where the rulemaker has control of what is allowed. And these are how many creators seem to approach what they call "boundaries". Again, this is not necessarily bad - their own twitch chats, discords, and maintags on social media ARE spaces in which they have control (some spaces more than others - maintags are shakier since creators don't have moderation power there, but that can be alleviated by creating a dni tag and asking people to place content there instead), and are therefore places where they can make rules about what they do or do not want to be shown. This is fine. Creators have the right to moderate their own spaces how they wish.
Where the problems emerge is that many creators seem to assume that they have the power to apply their rules (in the guise of "boundaries") in places that are not their own. Non-main tags on social media, archive of our own, private discords - these are locations in which the application (or lack thereof) of boundaries is no longer the choice of a creator. They do not have power; thus, any choices made by individuals in those spaces must necessarily be based only on the social agreement between fan and creator, an inherently parasocial construction. And in this case, the parasocial agreement that actually exists is not "this thing must never be created", it is "this thing should not be created or shared in my spaces".
I would argue that the primary issue in how "boundaries" are approached is a misunderstanding of how all of this works. Boundaries cannot be enforced in private spaces because there is no power relationship there. They can only be requested. As a result, when creators attempt to enforce boundaries in spaces that are not their own, what will actually happen is a series of barely-controlled harassment campaigns aimed towards people who are, by and large, following the social contract of boundaries but not the power-enforced contract of rules. And that harassment is far more of a problem than any person in a private discord writing something against boundaries. One might make someone uncomfortable.
The other gets people hurt. And that's where the line is crossed.
