let me say it again: you are going to be okay.

one thing that modern media loves to do nowadays is stress you out and overstimulate you. seeing what everyone is saying about the election and how saddened they are by the results and all these takes and opinions, it’s a lot for anyone to handle right now. take a step back and breathe. i guarantee you will not feel this way forever.

you will have good days, and you will have bad days. how you are feeling right now will not determine how you are going to feel every day for the next four years.

someday soon you’ll laugh with friends again, or you’ll have a little treat because you deserve it. you’ll smile at your favorite shows and games and new favorite things that will be released and amazing in the next four years. you’ll finish all your chores and be able to relax in your bed again. good moments are coming, i’m sure of it.

it might be easy to fall into a pessimistic mindset, but the truth of the matter is you have no idea what is going to happen in this next cycle to the people around you. there’s no use in predicting the worst when you can’t possibly know what will go on in the future. (and i’m against saying “just be positive!!!” since i understand how difficult that is right now) acknowledging that the bad things have yet to come is all you can do right now. for our own sake, we have to stay in the present.

what happened is devastating and scary, and that’s true. your feelings are so incredibly valid. you’re allowed to feel hurt, angry, disappointed, digusted, sad, anything you feel! but it hurts and it sucks to feel, i know. but it’s okay, because what your feeling is not forever. i promise.
