ur the only other xtc fan I know so I feel like youd get a laugh from this fact abt me: I listened to xtc for two years before I realized there were two different singers and when I found out i could feel my world shattering like glass. I haven't been the same since. (actually that's a lie I'm just a bigger xtc fan now)
HELLO LMAO. don't worry i also couldn't really differentiate andy and colin too. especially on the older albums (cuz colin has said that in the beginning his writing/singing style was more of an imitation of andys style than his own personal taste. he does mellow out around drums and wires though imo)
sorry u had to find out this way </3 yea there's two of them
my input on this: like you said colin did very heavily imitate andy before he had his style figured out but! when making plans for nigel blew up andy also started mellowing his stuff out a tiny bit and trying to make it a bit less cacophonous like colin does with his songs! and sometimes theyd record the same line and splice their vocal tracks together so the end result is basically the average of both of their voices. they called it "the homogeneous xtc voice". its charming theyre cute
